Chapter 38: Chapter 38
Chapter 38
It was only two days before Pershey's birthday. She was almost busy taking care of the materials for her debut. In fact, she had just come home from the mall. She was with Leighden who bought other decorations. Leighden wanted her to just hire a decorator so that she wouldn't be in trouble but Pershey didn't want to. She wants her to take care of her debut.
She was now looking out the window. It was five o'clock in the afternoon, it was raining and it was dark all around.
She thinks much deeper than the ocean.
Three minutes later, there was a knock and her spirit awoke. She did not turn around or come forward to open the door. She was still standing and looking outside. The rain was getting heavier and the breeze was getting colder as if she couldn’t feel the cold breeze.
Her face was calm as she looked outside. She did not pay attention to the person who knocked on the door of her room.
She only turned slightly when she heard the knocking again but her gaze was still outside. She also closed her eyes tightly as she sighed.
She approached to open the door. She stopped opposite the door while waiting to hear the knock again.
"Señorita, someone is calling on the phone," she said so she opened the door. Mae's face was exposed in front of her. Mae was one of her maids.
She didn't speak but she looked at Mae.
She closed the door then began to step on the stairs.
She picked up the phone that was still ringing and then placed it over her ear.
"Hello," she said.
"Hi, Pershey," a man from the other line greeted her. Her forehead furrowed slightly at what the man had said. The man's voice was so familiar to her that she wondered who was speaking.
Because she wondered who the man she was talking to was, she could no longer speak.
“Hey, Pershey,” he called.
"Unknown number," she said and appropriately hung up the phone.
"It's me, Pershey, Samuel," he said afterward so she didn't hang up.
"Samuel?" she asked. She can’t remember when she gave her telephone number to Samuel so she wonders how he found out her telephone number.
“Sorry for calling. Ummm, I just want to ask if you will do anything later," he said on the other line.
"Why?"
"I would have invited you to eat at home," he replied. She was silent for a moment to think of an answer to what Samuel had said. “Can you come later? Let's just have some dinner together,” he added.
"Uumm ... all right," she replied.
“Really? All right, I'll just pick you up there later. ”
"What time, Samuel?"
"8 o'clock."
"Okay," she replied before hanging up the phone. She was about to go up when she noticed Bria just entering. She was carrying paper bags.
Instead of stepping on the stairs, she walked closer to Bria. She was still staggering and smiling.
"Oh, Señorita," she said cheerfully and was about to kiss Pershey's cheek when Pershey took her face away and touched Bria's chin. "Oh, sorry," she added.
She looked at Bria and came over to smell her.
She was pinching her nose when she smelled the wine.
"You drunk?" she asked. Bria smiled. "You drunk ?!"
"O-o-oh, y-y-yeah," she answered intermittently. Pershey came closer to Bria and then examined her clothes.
She was wearing a short white skirt and a white tube top. She also noticed Bria's tattoo on the lower part of her shoulder, it was still blushing. A horizontal rose is engraved on the lower part of her left shoulder.
She examined it and nodded when she remembered something.
"It's okay to bloom alone," she said while looking at Bria's tattoo.
Bria laughed slightly then nodded at what Pershey said.
"Yes, this tattoo," she stopped and pointed to her tattoo. "... symbolizes blooming alone is okay, exactly what you said," she continued while still smiling. She was still blinking as she spoke.
Pershey smiled then lightly tapped her tattoo which surprised Bria. She closes her eyes as she frowns. Her eyebrows met.
She looked directly at Pershey and moaned, "Damn! It hurts, Pershey!"
The smile disappeared from Pershey's lips and was replaced by a serious facial expression.
"And who gave you permission to get a tattoo, huh?" she asked.
"I don't need anyone's permission, Señorita," she replied and was about to leave when Pershey grabbed her arm. She takes a step back to Pershey. "Get your hands off me," she commanded weakly. Pershey just stared at her. "I need to take a rest, Señorita. May I sleep?"
She tightened her grip on Bria's arm and then said, "You need my permission, Bria. Don't forget that you need my permission."
"Oh! Really?" she chuckles.
"Know where you are, Bria. You're not in the place you came from, Bria. You're in my mansion, you live in my mansion so learn to say goodbye and ask for permission."
"Look who's talking," she chuckled while saying with still faint applause. "Know yourself first, Pershey," she added. Pershey blushed at what she heard.
"And who the hell are you to say that ?!"
She laughed and laughed and clapped some more. Some maids stared at them as they heard Bria and Pershey talking.
She stopped laughing and looked at her seriously. She took one step closer to Pershey. "I am the only daugh-"
"Bria!" Nanny Yuna called out from behind them. She was a bit far away.
Nanny Yuna’s calling her that cut what she was going to say. They both looked at Nanny Yuna approaching them.
"You shouldn't talk to Señorita Pershey like that," she added. "Come on, go to sleep." She grabbed Bria by the arm but she gasped.
"Don't touch me! I can walk by my own, NANNY!"
Shd left even though her gait was somewhat staggering. Pershey was left standing and left in her mind what Bria had said to her earlier.
The maids left and only Nanny Yuna and Pershey were left. Pershey was still standing.
“Bria was just drunk,” she said. Pershey nodded but her frown was still visible on her face. "Don't even think about what Bria said."
She nodded and started to walk away but she stopped for a moment to say, “She said something that stuck in my mind,” then she left. She went straight to her room and closed the door. The rain was now a bit light so she went to the window and peeked outside.
She looked up.
"What's behind the clouds?" She asked while looking up.
‘Know yourself, Pershey,’ that’s the line that comes back to Pershey’s mind that Bria said earlier. What Bria had said before kept coming back to her mind.
"Who is she? Who am I?" she asked while still looking up.
She thought of leaving the room. She walked down the doorway and stopped opposite Bria's door. From the small space on the side, she peeked out. She saw Bria sleeping. She also looked at the paper bags she was carrying earlier.
An idea entered her mind so she went downstairs and went straight to the kitchen to prepare food for Bria.
She poured milk into the glass. From the top of the refrigerator, she picked up a small box. She took a sleeping pill and then mixed it with the milk in the glass. She stirred it and stirred until the medicine completely dissolved.
She immediately returned to the second floor and slightly pushed to open the door with her right foot. Bria's bedroom door was not closed so she was able to enter.
She slowly walked closer to the bed Bria was lying on. She first placed the food she was carrying on top of the drawer before she sat down on top of Bria's bed. She watched Bria as she slept.
"Bria," she called softly. Bria immediately woke up when Pershey called her.
"S-señorita," she said. She was still drowsy. "W-why you're here?" she asked.
"Eat first, Bria. Go to sleep after you eat."
"Y-you p-prepared m-my foods?"
"I cooked for you. Eat now and sleep after."
She left the room and entered her room. She timed Bria's meal.
It's been more than 20 minutes so she's sure the sleeping pills have already affected Bria.
She came out. She barely peeked out the door to see Bria. Bria was already asleep. The glass she had filled with milk earlier that had been mixed with sleeping pills was empty.
She entered then closed the door a little. She rolled her eyes around.
On top of her drawer, her cellphone was there. The paper bags were on the floor gathered to one side. She opened the drawer one by one. She did not mess up the contents of the drawer. She opens them and then closes them properly so that it is not obvious that she has opened Bria's belongings.
She looked in Bria's closet. Her clothes are neatly stacked.
She looked around. Nothing grabs her attention but only photos of Bria.
She didn't make a sound of being annoyed and then she was about to leave Bria's room. She was right in front of the door when she looked at Bria's bed. She approached and watched Bria as she slept soundly.
She slowly knelt down to peek under Bria's bed.
She saw a box made of thick wood. She picked it up and examined it. It has a lock on the front. She peered under the lock. It only wears a small key so she frowned at what was inside.
She looked at Bria and stood up.
"Bria," she whispered but she's not responding and sounds asleep.
