Chapter 37: Chapter 37
Chapter 37
Pershey was still hesitant to take the water Neil had handed her. Neil didn't look at her as the water was handed to her.
"Thanks," she said softly before drinking the water Neil had provided.
Leighden smiled as she glanced at them. Samuel also often looked at Pershey and coincidentally Pershey also looked at him. They smile every time their eyes meet.
"Umm, I'll come out first," she let Leighden know before she stood up. She left the cinema and stopped outside.
"Where is she going?" Samuel asked Leighden.
"Just ventilate outside," she replied. Samuel immediately stood up and was about to leave when Draek grabbed his arm which caused him to stop.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"I just want to buy something," he replied then continued walking until he got out of the cinema.
His eyes immediately searched for Pershey but he did not immediately see Pershey.
Pershey is currently sitting inside a restaurant. She eats quietly there.
There were very few people inside the restaurant so he immediately found Pershey. He went inside, pausing as he watched Pershey. Pershey didn’t notice him because he was dumbfounded while eating.
He approached and sat across from Pershey. Pershey looked at him slowly. There was no mixed shock.
"Why did you leave the cinema? Are you hungry?" he asked.
She forced a smile and nodded in response, then, she said, "Movie is boring."
He laughed slightly. "The movie is good, it's a thriller," he said.
"Really? Maybe, I found that movie as a boring one. It seems like, bored. Boring," she replied.
Samuel just nodded as he watched her eat the cake.
He smiled later and said, "You love chocolate cake?"
She stopped eating and thought for a moment, then, she looked at Samuel who was smiling at her. "Not really."
"What about avocado fruit shake? You like that, right?"
Her forehead furrowed slightly. Avocado fruit shake is her favorite and avocado is her favorite fruit. She wonders why he said that to the multitude of foods.
She later replied, "Yeah," and resumed eating and never looked at him again.
"Platinum necklace?" he asked. She could not answer right away because she did not understand much of Samuel's question. Moments later, she touched the necklace she was wearing and noticed that was what Samuel was referring to.
She nodded and said, "Yes, maybe."
"Ahh. That is familiar. As I remember, Iries bought a necklace same as yours."
"This necklace is from her. How did you know Iries bought the necklace?"
"She bought it from our jewelry shop. I even gave her the necklace."
"Do you have a jewelry shop?"
He nodded with a wide smile.
"That necklace you are wearing right now is 95% authentic."
Pershey just smiled and didn't say a word.
"Umm, may I ask something?"
"Go on," she replied.
"Are you avoiding Neil?"
"Uhh-uh-ummm-"
"Oh, I apologize for asking."
"N-no. I'm not avoiding him. Why should I avoid him?"
"You know why."
"Um ..." She blinked a few times as she looked past him, then she tilted her head then started eating.
"Oh, s-sorry, I-i d-did'nt mean to say that."
Pershey was about to speak when Draek, Iries, Neil and Leighden arrived.
"Are you guys dating?" Draek asked. Leighden tapped him so he fell silent immediately.
"No," Pershey replied quickly.
Leighden sat down next to her and took the spoon Pershey was holding then ate the cake she was eating.
"Delicious," she complimented as she savored the taste of the chocolate cake.
"You like chocolate cake, Leighden?" Draek asked. She shook her head and smiled.
"Chocolate is not good for my health but I like this one, this chocolate cake," she replied while chewing the cake that was still in her mouth.
Samuel stood up. Only four banks are vacant in Pershey's seat. If they sit, they have to sit on the other side.
"Take a sit, Iries," she said. Iries sat down as Samuel had said.
"Nice, gentleman," Iries complimented before sitting down. "Oh, where will you go, Neil?" she asked sharply as Neil walked away.
"Outside," he replied.
"Oh, are you avoiding someone? Are you avoiding Pershey?" she asked which was reason for Pershey to look at them. She did not expect what Iries said. She felt embarrassed but she remained calm as she looked at Neil.
"What did you say?" he asked.
"It seams like you're avoiding Pershey, right?"
His mouth dropped open as she looked at them one by one. Pershey still looked at them.
"No, I'm not avoiding her," he clarified to Iries' question.
"Oh, really?"
"Hey, Iries," Leighden called her.
"Why, my dear Leighden?" she softly asked. "What will you say?" she asked again.
" Can you please stop asking him? Just shut up, Iries, can you?" Leighden said irritably. Iries smiled teasingly at her and didn't say a word.
They sat quietly on either side. Pershey was still eating, she was just quiet too.
"Eating seems to be dull to you," she commented as she watched Pershey do the cake. She cuts it with her spoon and crushes it.
"Eating today is dull, damn dull," she replied without taking her eyes off the cake on her plate. "This is unsweetened," she added.
"Cake is sweet and delicious. Not boring to eat. Maybe, you're just not comfortable of eating that cake 'coz someone is here, am I right?"
"What are you saying, Iries?" Pershey asked.
"You heard my questions, Pershey, and you know what I mean."
"If you don't stop, I'll slap this cake on your face," Leighden threatened further making Iries to laugh weakly.
"You don't understand me," she said and shook her head. "Poor little mind, Pershey, Leighden, poor little mind."
"Get out of my face, Iries," she commanded in a calm voice. She tries not to raise her voice so as not to be noticed by those with them. Meanwhile, Pershey was just watching them. Confused of what's going on them.
"You know, Leighden," she paused. "... you're a talkative," she added and stopped again. "... but place your talkativeness, Leighden. I don't like talkative specifically when that talkative person doesn't know her place," she continued, which troubled Pershey's mind. She was unable to speak, she was figuring out something between Iries and Leighden.
"Just get out, Iries," she said softly. Iries just shook her head while still smiling. "Get out," she commands emphatically and prevents them from being noticed by their colleagues.
"Why should I?" she asked.
Pershey scratched her neck at the scene she was watching. She wanted to speak but she could not find time to speak so she chose to be silent for a while.
"You are annoying, do you know that?"
She smiled, nodding at Leighden's question.
"Don't full me, Iries," she said disgustedly.
"I'm not doing anything, Leighden. Why you're annoyed in me?"
"You are annoying bee bitch, you know that."
Pershey turned a blind eye to what Iries and Leighden were saying so she couldn't hold back anymore and she said, "I'll shake your heads if you don't stop."
There was a look of annoyance on her face but she immediately adjusted her facial expression. She keeps not getting angry but she feels a little annoyed at the conversation between Iries and Leighden. She couldn’t understand what was the reason why they were always like that when they're together and talking.
"... I'm annoyed with you two," she added but no one couldn't even notice the annoyance on her face. He was still calm.
"She's really annoying," Leighden insisted.
"But I am annoyed in you now," she said then stared at her. Leighden was speechless at what Pershey said. "... and annoyed in you too," she added while looking at Iries. Iries just raised an eyebrow at her so she looked back at Leighden again. She averted her eyes from Pershey, she noticed that. "... what's the matter with you two?" she asked.
Iries shook her head while Leighden remained silent and still avoided looking at her.
"No silence? No one will speak?" she asked.
"Hey, guys, is there any problem?" Draek asked.
"NOTHING," Iries replied while staring intently at Leighden. Leighden was not looking at her but at something else. "Do you wanna know?" she asked weakly then glanced at Pershey.
"If you let me know, why not, and if you speak, never tell a lie," she replied then looked at Leighden again. Leighden looked at her but immediately looked back at something else.
"Well, we just can't get along. I don't know, but her blood is hot on me, she's often rude to me, I don't know why," she replied. Leighden didn't say a word and just looked at her sharply.
"Liar," Pershey said softly.
"I am not lying, Pershey," she insisted but Pershey just nodded. Leighden just stared at her as well.
"Liar," she said softly. "I know when people are telling a truth or a lie, and you lied, you're a liar," she added.
"I'm not just the one who lied here," she stopped to look at Leighden who was also looking at her. "People around you can lie, that is unavoidable," she added then looked at her again. "What about you, Pershey? How many times have you lied?" She asked.
She sighed before saying, "My lies are none of your business, mind your own," she replied then smiled.
"Then find out the truth if you don't believe in me. Make sure, you really know people around you."
"Haven't you finished speaking yet?" Leighden asked. Iries just nodded and smiled so Leighden just rolled her eyes. Pershey did not speak again and Iries's words kept coming back to her mind.
"It's your turn to speak, Leighden. The microphone is yours, speak as long as you want. Speak now," she said.
