Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Carlos Zack waits outside Kelsey's shopping mall until she closed from work. He came out of the car to meet her. "Kelsey."
Kelsey turned around and see him standing there, with a charming smile plastered on his face.
He was wearing suit pants and a white t-shirt and a suit jacket, looking handsome in the setting sun. "What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Can we both have a drink?" His eyes looked up at her.
"Sorry, no. You're getting married soon and I don't want to be caught up in your affairs with the press. You know how I hat that. So no." She said and turned to leave.
Carlos held her hands and whirls her around. "Kelsey. I'm having a hard time now and I could use your help, just a drink, that's all I ask."
Kelsey looked at his eyes, this is the man she loves, the man she away lost herself in. He was getting married, he betrayed her, but looking at his sad eyes, she couldn't resist.
"Okay." She told him. Carlos opened the passenger door for her and she entered. He got into the driver's seat and drive to a classy wine bar.
There he ordered red wine, the waiter poured it into their glasses and retreat.
Kelsey looked at Carlos. "Tell me what is going on, I can see clearly that you don't look good right now."
"Work." Carlos sips his wine gently with his eyes on Kelsey. "Personal life, everything that has gone wrong between us." His eyes were lonely. "I'm not saying it's your fault Kelsey, it's mine. I was so reckless."
Kelsey shakes her head. "Carlos please, I'm trying to get over that." Kelsey gulped her wine and refilled her glass.
"I'm sorry, but right now, I wish I could be with you, I need you, Kelsey, right now." Carlos looked at her eyes and they stared at each other for a while.
Kelsey bits her lower lips and looked away. "I wish I can. Haven't you heard?" She asked him.
"Heard what?"
Kelsey looked at him. "Your grandfather has already announced the day of your wedding with that girl."
"What!" Carlos frowned.
Kelsey looked at him and scoff. "Don't act so naive Carlos, why do you think I'm trying to stay away from you huh! It hurts so much Carlos, but I can see you're suffering too. I know it's not your intention for all this to happen, but, you know just what I can't take, it's you not fulfilling your promise to be with me forever."
Carlos held her hands from across the table. "I can't promise you I won't do the marriage to save my company, but no matter what Kelsey, I promise you I will love you and only you for the rest of my life."
Kelsey looked at his eyes that were filled with love for her, she wanted to believe him, she wanted to believe what he was saying, this promise he was making to her.
She pulled her hands from his. "I've heard a lot of your promises Carlos. I just can't do this anymore." She stands up and picked up her bag. "I'm leaving. Thanks for the drink." Kelsey walked out of the bar.
"Kelsey." Carlos went after her after paying the bills. "Kelsey." He held her hands stopping her. "Kelsey waits, let me take you home please, let me give you a ride."
"No thanks." She pulled her hands from his and stopped a taxi, leaving Carlos there, he watched the taxi leave with a gloomy face.
...
"Triffany you've got to see this," Laura called out from downstairs to Triffany who was in her room, the next morning.
Triffany came downstairs, she just finished washing her mouth, after she woke up this morning. "See what?"
"This." Laura points at the news where Ethan Zack announced their wedding is next week Saturday.
Triffany shakes her head and smile, the smile did not reach her eyes. "They have got to be kidding me."
Her eyes turned cold and angry the next seconds. "How can he do that without consulting me first!" She growls.
Laura who was not happy on her end said softly. "That got to be their way...rich people."
"Oh my gosh!" Triffany shouts and scattered her hair with her hands furiously.
Tanner Tiffany's brother came close to her. "Triffany, I heard you're getting married into a wealthy family and to an heir of Glammaly estate. You have earned a bid trophy for yourself." Tanner smiled.
Triffany gave her brother a hard glare, did he think this was the ancient days where they marry a girl child off to a family against her will.
Her brother was always getting in her nerve, what trophy, if Carlos Zack was a trophy, then she never want to earn any in her life.
"What the heck are you saying?!" She yells at him.
Tanner hides behind his mother. "He's helping your life, you will be rich without working and looking at you right now, you're a mess, and being a wife of an heir is just a blessing." He told her looking at her dress.
She was wearing worn-out black pants and a big lemon top that her body was lost in, her hair was a mess, filled with few tangles.
Triffany hits his head gently. "You're crazy!"
"Ouch, that hurts." Tanner touch the spot she hits.
"I hope it hurts real bad." Triffany turned to her mother. "Mom I'm heading out." She walked to the door.
"Where to?" Laura asked surprised.
"Anywhere. But to kill one son of a bitch!" She shouts and opened the door to leave.
"Are you going to dress that way?" Laura asked, looking at her daughter's appearance.
"How is my dress?" She asked, looking at herself.
"All messy, I'm really ashamed to have you as my sister. No fashion sense at all. Gosh!" Tanner shakes his head and walked to his room.
"You better hope I don't catch you when I return!" Triffany call after him and walked out of the door slamming it shut on her way out.
"Oh my!" Laura held her forehead as she sits down. "I don't know any other way to help that my child." She exhaled sharply.
