FOURTY THREE- BREAK APART
"Tell me what!?" The voice from behind said making the three of us snap our head simultaneously at the approaching figure.
I was the first person to breath out a sigh of relief, then priye followed by Adam as we watched Annette prick her feet on the ground in quiet and confident strides
That was close
"Tell you nothing!" Adam replied and she eyed him warily
"What were you planning on telling me!"she whined with desperation laced underneath her tone
"Something too complicated without subtitles which obviously weren't for you" Priye replied with a shrug which caused her to roll her eyes at him
"I just came here to tell you guys that..." she was cut off by the distinct chatter of different voices walking towards the visual arts room and no sooner had we heard the voice, than Meera, sophie, sola and Ayo walked in leisurely as they chatted between themselves.while Ayo gave us slappy handshakes, the girls waved in acknowledgment.
meera made her way towards me and casually let herself comfortable in between my thighs
"Hey babe!"she called cheerfully
I raised my eyebrows at her playfully"babe?.." I asked smirking as she eyed me
"What?! you don't like it?"
"It's old-fashioned...call me something else" I said with a pout as she scoffed
"Fine..how do you like being called honeybeans.."she smirked widely when I shot my eyebrows in mock horror
"Seriously!you're not going to call me that! "
"Why not?! No one ever uses that nickname anyway so it's modern" she replied with a smirk which earned me a guffaw from Ayo who we didn't realize was listening in to our conversation
"God! I'm heartbroken.."I said placing my hands on my chest to which she snorted out a reply
"Have you guys heard?.."sola asked pausing briefly as she worked her gaze from Adam then priye and me. As though waiting for us to give a reply
Not getting any, she continued. "Our graduation is a week from now!" She said with a small smile
"I swear, that was what I was coming to tell them" Annette said
Wtf! A week from now;this seems so rushed
"Medd!! That means we're going to be graduating in a weeks time?.." priye said
"Is something wrong with your ears?"meera retorted to priye's dumb question which earned her a nudge and additional glare from sola
"Don't talk to my boyfriend like that!"she warned causing meera to bit a small smirk which was playing at the corners of her lips
"Looks like they can't wait to shove our ass out of this school" Ayo said which caused us to laugh
"And yea..that reminds me; i hope you guys haven't forgotten that tomorrow is our last social night party?"meera spoke up, resting her back on my chest and playing with my fingers which were encircled around her waist
"Damn!! I can't wait for this social night party.." Annette squealed
"What other special stuffs is going to be happening anyway?"Adam asked in a duh tone
"What do you think we should add up to the order of the day..and don't you dare tell me to bring strippers"meera said with a creased eyebrows while Adam fake-gagged
"Ewww!!..no..that's totally not sensible" Sola chirped in
"Is it? But guess what? That's one suggestion one stupid boy in sciences, made." she replied with a look of irritation
"Jeez!he's totally senseless...what did you tell him?" Annette asked curiously as meera shrugged as though it was nothing
"I told him he's permitted..if only his mum and sister would volunteer to be the strippers" she said causing us to roar into a fit of laughter
"Gosh! That was mean" Sophie said still laughing in between
"And he earned it" sola added.meera smiled broadly
"I know right,that's why.."she paused.standing up from where she laid
"I have to go and finish up all my preparations and that also includes the decors in the hall"
"I'm coming with you" I told her
"No honeybeans ...you don't have to" she said with a small smile while I feigned a frown to etch on my forehead
"Couldn't you just say honey?"
"We need a more modernised nickname isn't it, honeybeans? " she winked while giving me a mischevious smile as I let out a defeated graon in reply
"Anyway..why can't I come along?"i probed
"Cause I already have Osaro helping out..besides Victor too is helping" she explained and I snort
"Who the hell is Victor?" my voice sounded gruffly
"Victor is a human being in SS3A who has offered to help me with the decors" she said with a notch of sacarsm dripping in her voice
I slacked back on my chair "fine!"
"Now that's more like it..besides I'm off now " she said giving me a small kiss which made the rest of the guys coo while meera shashayed away..
I glanced at the guys, well except for Ayo who wasn't here earlier than now.as I mouthed; that was close..

The day seemed to have gone faster than usual and prior to this aced movement was the day of the social night.
The night when you're also going to tell meera everything - a small voice reminded me
I tugged my bowtie in a frustration..could I bring myself to let her know about this?? I don't think so..or maybe I'll try.
The neon lights flashed everywhere like the sirens of police but much more colourful and radiant.coupled with the exuberant decorations which graced the large hall of the party.from the side of the hall,I could see Priye which we used as the stand-in DJ,blare out musics as students in their colourful outfits danced liked they all of a sudden had forgotten how to stand still.
I searched the halls to get a glimpse of meera and unfortunately landed my gaze at Clara and her ever best friend, Angel. The both girls were dressed in a golden sequine mini gown and a fluffy stiletto heels, they were baring makeup on their faces and yea. if this was what they splashed everyday on their face then I'm so sure that the makeup product manufacturers will become richer than any other just by selling it to the both of them.
"Hey dozie!! You look amazing" clara called out, blowing me a kiss as she winked
I manage to let out a small smile when I heard a voice snort behind me "dare smile at them and see if your teeth wouldn't fall off immediately! "
I instinctively spurned around to behold the owner of the threatening tone when I stood frozen at my spot as my eyes raked her every being from the top to the bottom, she looked so stunning! So stunningly beautiful.so flawless in the gown which donned her perfect figures.
How did she manage to look so simple in the red dress and yet so beautiful.
"Like what you see?"she asked, cocking her head to her side as she struck a pose
"You're beautiful" I breathed out as she flashed me a grin
"You don't look bad either...and yea close your mouth! You look like you've seen an apparition"she replied whilst giggling
I didn't even realize that I had my mouth wide-agape untill she said it.
I pulled closely as I whispered into her ear "trust me when I say you're worth more than an apparition"
She shuddered lightly, biting her lower lips gently as she looked up at me "thanks!"
Then placing a light kiss on my lips she said "I'll have loved to hang around here but right now, osaro and I need to organize our performance for tonight so..."she trailed off
I nodded in understanding "it's alright chin chin...don't just take so long" I said when she flashed me a grin
"I'll try!" And with that she strutted out of sight.

Everything had been going on smoothly.everyone had something prepared for the night take for instance, clara and Angel who did a duet using Ariana grande ft nicki minaj's side to side..the whole hall was in an uproar as people clapped and waved excitedly.
There was the who did the food competition, played games, talent hunts, danced killer moves in group and all..Berley high students were seemed to be vibing well enough with the exuberant energy from the mood of the party.
"And now is the time for us to give our awards for the best couple of the year..." the MC who happened to be Esther from B class boomed through the microphone
Students had roared in excitement as she unfolded the the paper pad which she held with a wide smile
"The best couple of the year goes to Dozie Mattews and Meera Johnson...." she had barely finished her statement when the crowd broke into another round of chaotic cheers.
Gosh!!! Feeling overwhelmed,I made my way to the stage together with meera who couldn't help giggling. We made to collect our package..

"Not so fast..lover birds!"Esther whose hands were outstretched before to give us our gifts immediately snapped back as she beamed at us
"Anything to tell your bae. Dozie?"she asked still smiling.
I looked at meera who flashed me her widest angelic smile..beneath those smiles, I could see that she was actually smirking at me waiting for me to speak
"Yes I do.."I said and more chaotic cheers surged through the crowd in curious anticipation as I began
"Meera Johnson...my one and only chin chin forever..."I started off slowly. The hall had suddenly gone silent as people waited for me to continue, which i did.
" I don't know if what I'm about to tell you right now actually is going to make any sense..fuck! I don't even know how to start saying this but lord knows that I mean every single word of what I'm about to say.." i paused as the crowd coo'd
"Being with you meera was the only time I felt so alive, so genuinely happy and I don't know how much you're aware that you're the one who could lite up my world..I'm in love with everything that you are; your caring attitude,your smile, the way you laugh, your wits fuck!even your crazy personality.they are gold..I love every part of you, everything of you and I know that's one thing that can never change..." I said, boring my eyes into her deep brown eyes as I said every word
She stared at me with her eyes turning misty, the corners of her lips were slowly turning into a happy smile as she tried speaking out
"I don't even know what to say.."she started
"You don't have to say anything babe! I know you love me and that's all that matters" I told her, using my thumb to gently wipe the tears sliding down her cheeks as she nodded
"How long did you practice that.." she chuckled with a small sniff, this time I grinned
"I've been dying to tell you this.." I said and she smiled
"You know I love you too right?"
"I know- "the words had barely left my tongue when her lips came crashing down on mine. I held her hands wrapped around her waist, pulling her closer as I savored every taste of her lips..
the erupted loud cheers had reluctantly brought us to a halt...we didn't even realize we were still in front of everyone..meera entwined her hands in mine, as we looked at each other chuckling helplessly at our actions..
Gosh! I've never felt so ecstatic as this day

"Guy that was madddd!! " Ayo said excitedly as I laughed
I had practically been laughing all night at every single thing.meera had earlier excused herself to get a drink so basically she was nowhere in sight.
"I give you my blessings man" Adam added while priye had to give me a chop-knuckle
"Congrats bruv"he said
"But then..things just got pretty hard since you'll be leaving five days from now and still haven't even told your bae" priye said, slamming my reality back at my face
I ran my fingers through my hair, letting out a small groan "I plan to tell her tonight..."
"When are you leaving?!" A cold, icy voice said coolly from behind and this time the guys and I jerked in tension at the sound of the voice

Just as I had feared, the icy voice cutting through our conversation had all of us still..the air suddenly getting all tensed as she walked up closer to me with a plain neutral expression
"I asked, when are you leaving? "She repeated not for once melting her tone
"Meera...." I tried reaching out to her but she pulled back
"Tell me everything!" She demanded and that was how I got to tell her about me leaving in five days time..
After I was done talking she sighed as though what she heard didn't just come out of my mouth, still maintaining her neutral expression she said again "fine..safe journey! You can leave if you want to"
With that she spurned around and began to walk away when I quickly reached out to her "Meera please..!"
" please what? You're leaving and you didn't bother to tell me up until now huh?!" She asked, this time her yelled, piercing her glare at me as they seemed to be drilling holes right through me
"I was going to tell you..."
"Well you never did! " she snapped
"And I'm sorry Meera...I am" I pleaded
"Wow!..you know what dozie? Fine I understand, you can go study abroad and..." i quickly cut in
"I wasn't going to leave anyway...I was going to find another way to go about this..." I said desperately which made her chuckle humorlessly
"So..let me get you, you were given an opportunity to follow your dreams and because of me, you want to ditch it?"she asked
I raked my hands through my head "fuck.yes! Meera..I don't mind doing that.."
"Are you stupid!!! You've been given what you always wanted and because of me you want to quit?! " She yelled right at me with an icy glare
" meera..you don't understand how much it will hurt me to leave your side..you don't get it do you? I don't want to ever live you...."
"Dozie..listen to me!" She called more softly,cutting me off as she had her eyes shut tightly before letting them open slowly again.
"I know it hurts..because, honestly I'm hurt too..I can't also imagine my life without you when you leave.." she paused, a small streak of tears trodded down her cheeks
"You don't even know how much you mean to me and that's why I'm doing this for you..dozie! I'm doing this for us.." she said emphasizing the last line
"Meera you know i don't want to hurt you..I can't...I mean we can find a way to find this..we can...."
"And we have. haven't we?" She asked with a smug smile
"What are you talking about? "
There was a small tensed up silence enveloping the air around us as she breezed out flatly
"I'm saying let's break up"

She's not serious about this right?!

Well, the grim expression on her face read out that she wasn't joking even for a measly second.
" what?!.."
" you heard me..this is the only way dozie..you can't pause your life because of me..you've always wished to study visual arts..you've been given the opportunity so why throw it to the wind dozie.."
"Cause I don't care about that Meera..i don't care about the visual arts anymore..."
" well I do care!" She dead-panned.
"I do care..and that's why I'm breaking up with you and I hope you understand that" she said not waiting for me to say another word before sprinting off.
