THIRTY FOUR - GAMES

"Let's play a game!" Sophie announced happily munching over  a piece of meat and a bottle of miranda.

We were sitting in a round circle. All seven of us plus me which made us eight,plates of grilled beef and bottles of can drinks  were scattered around us, teni's song billionaire was blasting from the Bluetooth speaker.

It was already dusk but we choose to have a sleepover in Adam's penthouse.besides,I called mum and had to explain, convince and persuade her to let me do a sleepover. She kinda agreed

But!

On a condition that, I sleepover with the girls. And guess what? I told her yes.. apparently that's not the case cause the guys are here too though we will sleep in different rooms.

Anyway, back to the point.sophie suggested we play a game and I inwardly prayed it wasn't the truth and dare game again.

You know what happened!

"I choose truth or dare"sandwich suggested with a cunning smirk around her lips

"Are you that evil? It's like you want meera to-"Priye was starting to say and the rest of them burst out laughing as they relieved the memory

"Shut up dudes! Don't laugh at my chin chin like that!"dozie warned with an intimidating glare

I could feel a smile sneak its way to my cheeks until I saw him smirking. I instantly frowned, giving him a stink eye

"See you na..set awon good boyfriend..you'll be the one to find me"i spat and they all laughed, he turned to me with a puppy look on his face. He was damn cute looking like his boyish self.

"Aww..chin chin you know I didn't mean to laugh nau"he started to say. I folded my tongue to the right in between my teeth, making my lips twitch to one side as I held my arms around my bosom

"Oya  what can I do to earn forgiveness?"he asked and I didn't reply. drawing closer to me, he gently ran his hands through my hair as he cooed softly

"Baby"

I ignored him.he was trying to sweet talk me and I wasn't going to give in

"Honey bunny"

"Apple pie"

"Candy crush"

"Cocoa beauty"

"Cupcake"

"Honey beans!"

I snap my head swiftly at him with one of my eyebrows raised

"Seriously?! Honey beans??" Giving him a stink eye as I asked

"I was calling you sweet names nau, you refused to answer"he defended and I shrugged

" I will do you back..I swear"I replied with a snort while he smirked

"I'm going to wait patiently for that day"

I huffed and rolled my eyes in exasperation. Remind me to get back at him

"You two suprise me sha..when you guys weren't dating, you were bantering and now you guys are dating yet it isn't getting any better"sola said shaking her head while the rest of the guys agreed

" tell it to doofus "I retort

"Aww..you're favorite doofus huh?"

"Leave me jare..I'm not talking to you"I snap and he grins widely

"Let's see how that works"

"Pompous oaf "I snort

"You love me like that"

"I hate you"

"I love you too.."he replied with a wink and I sneer

Sola, Nini, priye, Ayo and sophie were all laughing uncontrollably like we were displaying a comedy show for them. Even Adam seemed to have a small smile on his face as he watched our little banter..

"You guys, if we continue today I'm not sure we'll play this game tonight-"

"You should tell dozie not to join..he's toxic "I spat and he laughed

"Both of us make we..so no problem we can handle toxicity "

"Nah..I love being healthy-"

"Okay!!!"sophie cut in, still trying to stifle her laughter

"I only said let's play a game ooh before you and dozie tear yourselves up...and sandwich! We aren't playing truth or dare "

"So what game are we playing?"

"W,P and C" sola suggested with a hopeful glint in her eyes

"What's that?" Ayo asked

"A game durrh "she replied with sass and I rolled my eyes

"I know nah..I'm asking how it's played" he replied

"First of all! What's W,P and C ?"nini asked

"Okay..w,p and c means worse pickup lines and comebacks..so we'll group ourselves into two as partners, spin a bottle and whosoever it points at will say a pick up line to his/her partner who is going to give a comeback for that awful pickup line.."

"If he doesn't know what to reply, you'll have to drink a whole glass of beer in two seconds.so who's in?"

" a glass of beer in two seconds?? Wow!! I can't lose this one "Ayo said and I chuckled

"I'm in "I replied sola. She brought a star bottle to our midst as we grouped ourselves. Sola as expected partnered with priye while Annette and Adam,Ayo and nini and sophie..right!

" sophie come and be my partner jare" I called out and she chuckled

" I'm seriously not third-wheeling"

"It's not third-wheeling.."I protest

"Just give it up babe..we're already partners "dozie says with a triumphant smirk and I groaned

" don't worry...I'm taking the scores...the person with the best comeback gets another plate of suya"sophie says winking

I felt my stomach churn at this! Suya!!damn..these guys knew how to trap someone sha

"Let's get this done.."ayo said, spinning the bottle first, it spurned around in a swift motion before landing on sola and her partner

Priye placed his arms on his cheeks, putting up his best smile as he turned to sola

"Hey babe! Didn't we take class together, I could've sworn we had chemistry? "

Sola smirked with a bitchy look as she fired "I'm thinking it's history, which is what you should be right now"

Ouch!!

We all laughed heartily at priye's feigned hurt expression while the game rolled on.soon it was Ayo and Nini's turn

"Did you know I googled 'beautiful' and a picture of you came up? "

"I don't know..you'll get the same result if you search for 'not interested'" nini retorts

" one point for sola and co! Another for nini..oya next person" sophie said through fits of laughter

The bottle spurned again and this time it landed on dozie and I. He smirked as he turned to face me

"I feel like I'm a library card since I've been totally checking you out.."he said with a wink and I snort

" did you notice I'm like a best seller? 'Currently unavailable' " I replied as I rolled my eyes trying not to laugh at my comeback

He burst out laughing so hard together with the rest of us..we were going on and on saying awful pickup lines and giving crazy comebacks..honestly it was more fun than I had thought earlier.

I stood up to go and get myself a glass of water  from the kitchen dispenser, the guys had all gone to bed now..well apart from Adam whom I saw leaning besides a kitchen cabinet, holding a glass of beer in his hands as he busied himself with his phone.

Adam was busy swiping something on his phone without sparing a glance at who was in the same space with him as usual ...honestly not like I care though infact, after I told him I had a crush on him. I seriously tried avoiding being left alone with him

I always thought he'd have to ask me for an explanation which I truthfully haven't given him yet.

I quietly placed my cup under the dispenser, pressing a small button and letting the water drain into my cup

Then I turned it off and gulped it down my throat.

Dropping the cup back, I spurned around to leave when I heard a hoarse voice call from behind

" hey meera!" I felt my legs freeze to a spot, subtly calming myself down as I turned to him with a small smile

"Hey Adam..."I say, my voice was abit high pitched, too awkward to my hearing

He stood up straight,dropping the glass of beer into the sink and fixing his phone into his pocket while tucking his other hand into his other pocket.

" umm..I'm sorry I was kind of busy when you came in "

I shrugged "it's okay..why aren't you asleep yet?"

He titled his head  with his lips puckered up like he was thinking of what to say

" let's just say I was quite busy..and you?"he asked

I pointed to the dispenser "came for water "

"Yea..right!"he replied with a nervous chuckle

"I'm going to bed now..goodnight"I said making my way past him when he called again

"Is it okay to stay for a minute...I can't fall asleep right now"he said

I smiled mischeviously, if this was me way back before, I would have been tripping joyfully in my heart. But right now, it's way different

"Why? Are you thinking of proposing to someone? "I asked with a smirk as I wriggled my eyebrows at him making him laugh

"Kind of..yea!! "

Is it Annette? It got to to be her

I laughed "best advice from me..just get drunk and the work is done "

He laughed again "like it did with you nau?"

I feigned a hurt look as I pouted "hey..I'm helping here"

" thanks but i'll pass " he replied and we both laughed again. Staying quiet a minute before he spoke up again

"You had a crush on me!"he blurted and I snapped my face to meet his.

He seriously can't bring up that stuff right now!! I choked on my spit and coughed nervously making him chuckle

" you don't need to get nervous...you were drunk when you said it afterall"

" I know right..that was meant to be my secret "I replied with a low hiss making him laugh again at me

" how long did you like me tho?"

" are you trying to feel yourself ?" I retort and he laughs

"C'mon...nau..how does one deal with you sef ?"he asked and I chuckled

" should I tell you a secret of mine too?"he asked

"Go ahead "

" I liked you too "he spilled out

For a moment, I stared  speechlessly at him..was he trying to make me feel better for telling him my once upon a time secret?

Nah..he got to be joking...Adam liked me! And i didn't at least know about it. Interesting!!

" umm..you did?" I asked

" yea..crazy right!?.."

I pouted, shaking my head with a sigh "damn crazy.."

" funny! I always liked you but then..I was tad a bit scared to approach you" he confessed

I scoffed "you were scared of me?! Why?!"

"Cause you were always so fiesty and yunno..I just didn't have the balls to do that  that's why I decided to seat beside you this term..and..umm"he stuttered  I laughed

" should I call you a coward?!" I asked smirking and he glared playfully at me

" I'm confessing here..don't make it hard "

" I know right and I didn't tell you to confess so what changed your mind?"

" maybe because I had to let go when you told dozie that you had feelings for him and he liked you too..besides you two are pretty cute " he said and I cooed

"Aww....I'm totally speechless right now " I said truthfully

Damn what was I supposed to even say? I sighed. Honestly I was glad we were talking about this and it didn't seem all awkward like how I thought it would be

"I know right..it's pretty alot"

"Yea sure it is..umm..anyway thanks for telling me your own secret sha.."I said and he laughed

" you're not okay...I know you're more interested in that one " he said and i laughed again

" can you blame me..so who's the bae you're thinking of proposing to?"I asked and he jerks his head backwards

" why are you making it sound like wedding na?"

" cause you started it when I asked you earlier " I accused

" sha it's not your business" he retort and I snort

" deal with it but i'll be glad to tell you if you like don't shoot your shot before she show another guy green light" I said with a smirk and he pours

" you're mean sha "

" it's fact.." I retort and we both laughed at our silly behavior..I felt so relieved having this conversation with him, it flowed so naturally even tho it had to start with me being nervous..

Someone's footsteps strolled through the kitchen, I looked up to see dozie. He was wearing his nighties and a night wear robe draped over him.

He glanced at Adam and then back at me

" what's going on? "

" nothing really...just came to get water " I said and he sighs

" hmmm.."

" goodnight meera.." Adam said and patted dozie at his shoulder

" goodnight "dozie and I chorused. As soon as Adam was gone he swiftly turn to me, looking over my face for an explanation.

I rolled my eyes at him "I've told you everything's fine...we just had a small talk "

" I didn't say anything "

" but you're looking at me like I did something"

" did you? "

"No!" I whisper yelled in frustration

" meera I'm- "

"You're what? Thinking I'm lying to you? I just couldn't sleep and I came to get water when I saw Adam...we talked about for sometime but that's all "I explained in exasperation

" meera I'm not saying something happened..I was actually concerned about the fact that you didn't sleep yet..." he replied calmly and I huffed

" yea whatever...I'm going to sleep btw...goodnight " I said walking out of the kitchen.

Maybe I just needed to have some rest, I didn't mean to fight with dozie..it just made no sense at all..I just hoped the next day got better.
