Chapter 13: Chapter 13
My dad gave me a curious look. "Why do you always get rich guys to court you?" He wondered out loud.
Rich guys? I wondered. And then it took me a while to remember that Al told them a lie that he was loaded with cash.
I jerked my thumb at Al. "Actually, he's broke-" Before I could finish, Prick covered my mouth with his hand.
"Filthy rich!" Al yelled loud enough that it drowned out what I was saying.
“I accept Tyrelle as my daughter's admirer.” My mom suddenly declared, making me aware that the other guy was still here. “Aelfric and Tyrelle, I insist you both join us for dinner. I will cook a feast.”
Tyrelle offered them a thankful small bow while Al beamed happily. At this point, you can tell who has more class between the two. In this case, it's Tyrelle.
“Thank you for having me.”
“Come inside, you two,” Mom says. “Gabriella, make yourself useful and entertain these two while your father and I prepare for dinner.”
“But-” I attempted to protest.
“Do as you are told, Gabriella,” Dad ordered, following my mom inside the house. They were at it again and ignoring me when I tried to explain things to them.
Why do I even bother offering them an explanation?
“Fine,” I responded with teeth clenched. I grudgingly led the two morons inside. “Go over to the sofa and have a seat!” I pointed to the empty seats in the living room.
"I thought your mother asked you to entertain us," Tyrelle asks.
This guy has the arrogance to order me around after we've only just met. To be fair, his ego was big enough to ask me to marry him in the first place, so why should I be surprised by his behavior at this point?
I sighed and walked into the living room after them. We sat on the sofa, the three of us, with me in the middle.
Tyrelle was the first to break the silence after a long awkward pause. "So, you’re Gabriella Bryce." He said it with an irritated expression on his face. "Why did you lie to me?"
“Oh, I'm not sure. Perhaps it's because I have no idea who you are, and you just popped out of nowhere!? Furthermore, this individual is on the lookout for me, and I have no idea if he intends to kill me if he finds me.” I leveled his gaze with my own.
Tyrelle didn’t look happy at the sarcasm that I was giving him. “I wasn't planning to, but since you are a lying bitch I am considering it.”
“Don't call my bitch a bitch, you son of a bitch!” Al leaned forward and bared his fangs at Tyrelle.
"Don't call me a bitch, you son of a potential bitch!" I told Al and Tyrelle.
"I want Gabie poo to cuddle with me!" Al says as he grabs me by the shoulders and pulls me to him. "Gabie poo is so cute when she’s angry!” Then against my will, he starts rubbing his cheek against mine.
"Gross! Get your-!" Before I could finish what I was saying, Tyrelle pushed him back and pulled me away from Al. I didn't notice it before, but when Tyrelle pushed Al's face away from me, Al now had a massive gash on his face.
When I glanced down, I saw that Tyrelle's hands had morphs between a mixture of human and animal hands and were dripping with blood. I was so stunned that I stared at it for a few seconds before reacting to the situation.
"Oh my GOD! Don't get it on the sofa!" I said immediately. I probably should have asked him if he's okay, but let’s face it. I don't care. Instead, I turned to glare at Tyrelle. "What the hell was that for?! That was freaking dangerous. What will we say to my parents if they see his face?"
"Gabby poo, I am so happy that you are worried for me. Don't worry, I won't do anything that could damage our sofa."
I returned my gaze to Al. "What exactly do you mean by our-" I took a breath and examined his wounds. It was self-closing as if it were being sewn together. Tissues and skin merge to close the wound completely. I didn't know what to say because I was so taken aback.
Al studied me curiously and started laughing at me amusedly. "Is my Gabbie poo falling for me?"
"Fuck you," I said. "More importantly, what happened to your face? How....how....."
"Werewolves and vampires can heal faster than humans. Ten times or so depending on their strength." Said Tyrelle. "Since he is a hybrid, you can just imagine his regenerating speed. It’s proof that he is an abomination to both kinds."
Al made tsking noises. "Don't be insecure of me. I mean, I don't blame you. Having a hot body, a beautiful face, and being a hybrid is the package. But don't worry, being a sugar daddy suits you."
"Sugar daddy?" Tyrelle raised a brow at him.
"Dude, if you don't know what that means, then let me show you," Al says. "Get all your cash from your wallet and scatter them like this in my direction." Prick says, placing this right palm in front of his left palm and making a swing motion.
Tyrelle, being an idiot, followed. He took all his cash from his wallet and rained his cash on us.
"Yay! Thank you, sugar daddy!" Al got down and started picking up the money.
I looked at Tyrelle. "Aren't you going to get your money back?"
Tyrelle only shook his head. "I don't want it back now that he is rubbing his cheeks on them." He says with a disgusted look on his face as he watches Al picking up his money.
"Dude, there are like buck loads of hundreds there." Al shamelessly continued to pick up the cash on the floor.
Tyrelle only crossed his arms over his chest and slumped on the sofa. "He can have them, since he needs them more than me."
"Nah. I think he might throw it back at you once he gathers them. He hates you more than he loves money." I observed.
"Aw man! Thank you so much, sugar daddy. Now I can buy myself some Starbucks without flirting with pretty girls to treat me." Al was practically kissing the money at this point.
Tyrelle gave me a side glance and smirked. He was teasing me. "R-Right. I just remember that he has no pride at all."
"Hey, Gabby poo. I have so much cash now that I can treat us both to a theme park, a movie, and dinner for a whole week. What do you say we have a date?"
"No," I answered without hesitation.
"Hey, hybrid. Consider that as payment for you to leave Gabriella the killer smile to me." Tyrelle says.
"I am not for sale, and I told you to stop adding killer smile after my name!" I glared at Tyrelle for trying to objectify me.
"No way. We never had any deal before. That is null and void." Aelfric leered at Tyrelle as he pocketed the money. "I appreciate your gift of money, mutt. But there is no way that I would give up Gabby poo."
"Oh, please! Give up already." I sighed. I was getting tired of this endless roller coaster.
"I need Gabriella more than you do, hybrid."
"So you only need Gabriella? You don't pursue her because you like her?" Hope sparked in Al's face at the fact that he might not have a competition for me after all.
"I will like her when I like her." Says Tyrelle.
Even though I was staring at the ceiling at this point, I felt like my energy was being drained at a rapid pace. I wish they would stop talking about me as if I were not here...
"Kids! Dinner is ready." My dad announces.
We were soon all seated in the dining area, ready to dine. While mom and dad sat in front of us, I was squished between Prick and Tyrelle. Mom and dad peppered Tyrelle with questions as we ate.
And now, the dreadful interrogation begins.
“I was a football team captain back in my old school in New York for four years. I like math the most. Second is science, then history.” Tyrelle spoke as he answered the question that my parents asked.
"You must like studying.” My mother observed. “So, how are you adjusting here? I mean, coming from New York, it must be hard."
"Well, it is a bit difficult considering that I have to leave my friends and team back in New York. But my father requested that I come and transfer temporarily depending on my performance."
"Performance for what?"
"For personal matters."
Al looked irritated throughout the conversation, considering Tyrellewass getting all the attention. "Am I the only one here who thinks this guy-" Prick pointed at Tyrelle "-is a wee bit suspicious for his 'Personal matters' reason?"
Speak for yourself, is what I want to tell him right now.
My mom and dad considered Prick's words and were looking at Tyrelle indifferently.
"Well, whatever motive he has, as long as he means well for our daughter, I guess it's fine," Dad adds as we finish our meal.
Thankfully, the two were on their best behavior that nothing dramatic happened the whole time we were eating. And soon, it was time for the two fools to leave, and I was overjoyed.
“Gabriella, please see the two young gentlemen to the door,” Mom asked.
“No,” I said stubbornly.
“Gabriella.” Came her warning tone.
I groaned. "Alright! You two come here to the door." I called. Thankfully the two followed and were now standing behind the door.
“Thank you for you and your parent’s hospitality, Gabriella, the killer smile,” Tyrelle said while bowing.
"For the last time, stop calling me that," I said through gritted teeth.
"No! I don't want to leave Gabbie-poo!!" Al cried and tried to jump at me. He almost tackled me to the ground when Tyrelle hit him somewhere behind the neck, causing Al to fall asleep, but not before cursing Tyrelle.
Al then collapsed on the ground, knocked out. Tyrelle glanced at me as he bent down to pick him up like a bag."Tomorrow we shall eat lunch together. I'll come and find you. It will be my treat."
"No way. You can keep your lunch money because I will not be eating with you." I immediately declined his offer. Because of his potential popularity at school, other girls may be drawn to me if they notice us hanging out.
Tyrelle raised an eyebrow at me. "Would you rather I leave him here for you to deal with?" He said, gesturing to the sleeping hybrid on his shoulder.
"Are you blackmailing me?"
"If it means getting to spend some time with you so you can fall for me, then yes." He said calmly, making me blink and wonder how great his ego must be.
"GABBY-POO IS ONLY ALLOWED TO LOVE ME. NOT YOU!" Al awoke briefly but was soon sound asleep again when Tyrelle smacked him in the back.
"Why would you want me anyway? Can you please just leave me alone?"
Tyrelle shook his head. "I'm afraid that is not possible." Just then, I heard my mom calling me from the kitchen. "Your choice, Gabriella. It's either you deal with me tomorrow or him tonight?" He gestured at Al. “I just wanted to talk. Think nothing of it.” He added when I still looked hesitant.
It was getting late and I was exhausted. It took all of my strength to deal with Al. Imagine having to deal with both of these jerks in one night. I let out a defeated sigh. "Alright, fine. Just promise me he won't bother me anymore."
"I promise." He says with a slight victorious grin on his lips. "See you at school then, killer smile." And with that, he left carrying an unconscious hybrid with him.
