Chapter 312: Chapter 312: Level 10 breakthrough- Is it really possible? (4)
It ran until it was close to the worm and hopped from the ground directly to the worm’s body.
Theo could see it having a good grip on the dried skin of the worm, but it was not going to be the same when the worm was all slobbery everywhere.
It bared its teeth at the worm and bit down hard.
Theo saw it trying to take off the skin off the worm only to miserably fail and get even more angry.
Soon, sounds of a frustrated ape just hitting the worm skin with all it had resounded everywhere.
"You can call it back, Elias," Theo spoke. "We all have our strengths, the ape will have to take the role of taking all its attention," he stated.
Elias bit his lips and looked at the angry ape with concern. He gave a mental command and Theo saw it looking at Elias with even more anger.
It hit the worm with a very heavy kick only for the worm’s body to just move in and out like elastic.
"You saw that? His attacks are very strong, it’s just not compatible with this fight." Theo spoke and patted the ape’s arm with a smile.
The ape just looked at Theo with unknown emotions before moving past them all and into the forest only to vanish once again.
"... My apologies for its behavior, I will train it better to act with respect." Elias stated, making Theo frown.
"There is nothing wrong with its behavior, Elias. You know that too. Beasts can also be just as frustrated as us humans."
Elias only nodded, but it didn’t seem like the words got inside him.
"Chip... can also try." Elias spoke, but there was hesitation in his eyes.
"It can try all it wants, but make sure it doesn’t hurt itself. It has the main job of being our eyes afar, you know." Theo spoke. He knew how Elias was thinking.
First him pivoting from being just a tamer to an archer and then the ape’s attacks not working on the one big beast they had seen till now.
Theo looked at the back to spot his father only to see no one. He was in the camp right now.
It made him feel antsy as his aura was one of the things keeping the crawlers away, except for the new addition of the ants.
Soon, the sounds of something chirping came from above and everyone spotted the small bird coming down the sky with high speed.
It went and attacked the worm right away while flying, its beak hitting head first on the worm’s skin.
Everyone became dumbfounded when they looked at the worm.
"Chip... vanished?" Theo asked Elias only for Elias to chuckle awkwardly.
He went forward and unbuckled his arm armor only to move his hand inside the worm’s body.
After rummaging through for a while and going full arm’s length in, his hand finally got out with a small bird in his hand.
Chip moved its head left and right and made a cute CHIRP sound.
Its whole body was drenched with blood, making all the fur stick to the body.
Elias kept it on the ground where there was wet moss and Chip started cleaning itself on its own, making Elias return.
"As you can see, its body isn’t that weak as it looks like. Its beak is also very strong but at the same time, it can’t really be of use if it gets stuck like this in the body and can’t get back."
"It’s like a bullet..."
"What is a bullet, young master?" Clara asked, making Theo shake his head.
Both Clara and Elias didn’t pry in. It was another term that Theo didn’t want to discuss with them as usual and they respected it.
"Yeah, we can’t really use it in the fight... if it gets stuck and we can’t get it out, it may get in trouble." Theo spoke and Elias nodded with a grave expression.
"I guess it’s our turn now." Theo spoke and tapped the mantis’s head before it hopped away in excitement.
Everyone saw it with focus. It was the one beast everyone knew had the best killing blows on the whole ground.
When the mantis was close enough, it halted. Theo looked at it and smiled.
It was at that moment that it became a white flash of light traveling fast toward the worm.
The next second, Theo and everyone saw the mantis right up at the worm’s body with nothing happening to the worm.
Everyone frowned except Theo. He knew what had happened.
Soon, a line of blood started to form on the worm’s body. The line was long and didn’t seem like something a small mantis could do.
But the mantis was not that small anymore. It came above the ankle of Theo’s leg, making it many many times bigger than a normal mantis.
The line made with blood started thickening and thickening until the cut started getting bigger and bigger.
Everyone was silent when they saw the cut become more of an oval and liters of blood just getting out of the body and going down to the moss and getting absorbed by the soil.
"... Oh benevolent artifact," Clara spoke with a horrified expression.
Everyone had seen what it could do before too, but not a single one of them had noticed its skill level on an individual level for a while.
"... What’s the level of this metallic strike skill, young master?" Elias asked with a dumbfounded look.
Theo checked it in the status and smiled.
"Nearing level 10."
"..."
There was silence in the camp for a long while.
"Why didn’t you say this before, young master. Do you know what this means?" Clara spoke with a heavy tone.
Theo grinned. "Its skill is going to change, and I hope it’s a really good one too," Theo stated.
Both Elias and Clara nodded and checked their beasts’ status too, only to be disappointed.
They were nowhere close to the battle machine known as the Bloodbloom Mantis. Neither in skill nor in level.
