Chapter 846: Chapter 846
"The Trojan Room can heal all wounds, regrowing a severed leg is not a problem at all," Tang Zheng said, having finished bandaging the soldier’s broken leg. He patted his shoulder, comforted him with a few words, and then went to discuss the travel plans with Dantai.
The soldier was at most twenty years old, still very immature. He didn’t dare to cry, afraid of being despised, but he couldn’t stop the tears from flowing. The thought of being disabled for life made him unbearably distressed.
Zuo Yi was beside him, carefully saying something to soothe his emotions.
Ruan Feifei and Sha Ou knew that the boy would most likely not survive and might even slow down a soldier, but since they weren’t tasked with caring for the wounded, they couldn’t be bothered about these matters.
Bai Guo, not wanting to keep Tang Zheng waiting, returned after ten minutes as agreed. Her face was smeared with soil, her forehead covered in sweat, and she looked somewhat pale, clearly having been through a battle.
"It’s the middle-aged Germans’ team, they are heading this way," Bai Guo pointed out on the map Dantai had spread out.
"Did you kill someone?" Ruan Feifei curiously asked, noticing the bloodstains on Bai Guo’s clothes.
"No, I killed bugs," Bai Guo shook her head. If it wasn’t for not wanting to reveal their position, she could have easily used her invisibility ability to kill the few lagging German survivors.
When Tang Zheng and his group returned to the team, they found everyone sitting in the temporary camp, with faces full of disappointment and an oppressively heavy atmosphere.
Six Germans had been disarmed and were being detained to one side, while Xu Biyun and Sister Hong were in charge of guarding them.
Lin Weiguo was teaching the three university newbies how to use firearms. They were very serious about it, mainly because the sight of a corpse was a constant painful reminder.
A dead soldier’s body lay nearby, his face covered with a handkerchief, half of his torso riddled with bullets. A university student was injured, and he kept moaning in pain.
"Who attacked us?" Dantai was upset, especially since it was a soldier who died, which was a waste.
"Two crazy Neo-Nazi Youths. As soon as they saw us, they threw a hand grenade, injuring him, then started firing. You can see the result," Lu Fan said with G36C slung across his chest, feeling helpless against such lunatics who were completely irrational.
"Now you see, don’t you? If you don’t kill, you’ll be killed. To survive, we need to stick together and follow Group Leader Tang’s orders. Don’t act on your own, as we have much more experience than you do," Yu Manli waited for Tang Zheng’s return to say these words, simply trying to curry favor.
"Company Commander, you’re a smart man. Explain it to your soldiers," Tang Zheng called the Conqueror over to start a combat meeting.
The Company Commander nodded. After the recent firefight, he knew that he probably couldn’t get his men out alive on his own and needed Tang Zheng’s fire support, although he didn’t fully trust these people and didn’t want his soldiers treated as cannon fodder.
"We’ll split into two groups, Dantai, you take the newbies and a few Conquerors to the pier to ensure our exit route. The rest come with me to the island’s center. This place is marked as a key point, so it must be related to the mission," Tang Zheng flicked the map open and had everyone scan a copy with their wristwatches, "and if we get the chance, hunt down other teams’ promising newbies, leave the useless ones behind."
"Indeed, it’s not about killing as many as possible in a team battle. We start by hunting promising newbies, attempting to incapacitate them. Whether or not we dispose of them, it will cause friction and cracks in the opposite teams. Maintaining this pressure will definitely lead to their mistakes," Dantai spoke coldly, cool as a serial killer, "Any additions?"
Shen Qingshuang didn’t have the privilege to attend the meeting but was worried about her own safety, so she edged towards the outskirts of the team, listening to their discussion.
"Is there anything I can do?" Dantai glanced at him, and Shen Qingshuang smiled back, friendly and not the least bit intimidated.
"They spoke without avoiding everyone or lowering their voices, clearly allowing newbies to eavesdrop," Shen Qingshuang wasn’t sure, but thought it best to keep a low profile at this time.
"Jing Xiang, help Lu Fan distribute canned food to everyone; after we eat, we move on," Qin Yan took charge of these minor tasks, otherwise leaving it all to Tang Zheng would simply exhaust him.
The six German newbies also received food, and the three air hostesses exchanged glances full of worry. They knew that their countrymen had just killed one of their companions, and they feared retaliation. The three young Germans, on the other hand, were considering how to escape.
Xu Biyun and Sister Hong appeared weak and weren’t paying much attention to them, which made them see an opportunity. Killing and seizing guns didn’t seem too difficult.
After taking a couple of bites of canned food, a soldier found it tasteless, with bitterness in every mouthful. Looking at his friend’s corpse lying in the weeds, and the German youths showing no signs of remorse, noisily gobbling down beef, he became furious, threw the canned food on the ground, and stood up abruptly to approach them.
The other soldiers didn’t try to stop him; instead, two more stood up and followed behind Wang Bo.
"How can you even eat?" Wang Bo raged, knocking the canned beef out of the laughing German youth’s hand with a swipe.
The three air hostesses stepped aside in fright, but the soldiers did not intend to trouble them. Being rough with women wasn’t the act of a hero.
"Got the guts for a one-on-one?" The youth stood up defiantly, his head nearly butting against Wang Bo’s. Used to fights and brawls, such a minor confrontation couldn’t intimidate him. With a folding knife hidden on him, he was contemplating taking a hostage to escape.
The Company Commander just went through the motions of saying a few words and didn’t interfere any further.
"Just don’t kill him, or they’ll dock your share," Xu Biyun reminded kindly. Wang Bo nodded and roared at the other man, "Come on!"
"Looking for death!" The German youth cursed and, without any notion of a fair fight, swung a punch at Wang Bo’s eye and simultaneously threw a kick at his groin.
Wang Bo sidestepped, grabbed the youth’s wrist, twisted it hard, and followed with a punch to his nose, breaking it instantly and causing blood to gush out.
"Who let them put on protective clothing?" Ruan Feifei expressed her dissatisfaction, "Such time bombs should be killed off as soon as possible."
But the three flight attendants didn’t change into protective clothing, evidently fearing harassment during the process.
Wang Bo kicked the youth in the head, flipping him over, which vented much of his anger. He turned to leave but hadn’t taken two steps when he heard his comrades’ cries of alarm.
The youth, withstanding the pain, got up and lunged with a knife at Wang Bo’s throat, while the other two, seeing the soldiers raising their rifles, didn’t dare move but instead raised their hands to show they were not a threat. Thɪs chapter is updated by NoveI(F)ire.net
Wang Bo didn’t turn around; instead, he quickly moved forward to widen the gap and grabbed the rifle, half-turning and charging at the youth.
Rat-a-tat-tat, Wang Bo opened fire. The gun’s muzzle flared with fire, bullets flying out and hitting the youth, who, despite wearing protective clothing, couldn’t withstand the barrage of bullets.
The youth was killed and lay on the ground, blood leaking out and quickly seeping into the soil.
The three flight attendants screamed, trembling with fear, and squatted on the ground, clutching their heads.
"Wang Bo, you bastard, who gave you permission to fire?" The Company Commander was furious, ran over, kicked Wang Bo in the calf, toppling him, and thought about how to explain this to Tang Zheng; he didn’t want to leave others with the impression that the soldiers were bloodthirsty.
"Company Commander, Wang Bo was defending himself," a platoon leader defended Wang Bo, "These guys are the enemy, why show them any mercy?"
"I understand how you feel, but the approach is wrong. Do you want to get yourself in trouble too?" Tang Zheng pointed to his head, "If you don’t calm down, the next person to die might be you."
"I’m sorry," Wang Bo looked remorseful and sighed heavily, squatting on the ground with his head in his hands. The person who had died was the combat mate who slept on the bunk above him; they had a great relationship. How could he possibly remain indifferent?
"What about them?" Lu Fan pointed at the German newbies with his chin. After such an incident, expecting loyalty was wishful thinking; they would surely stab you in the back.
Everyone was silent, although they all wanted to kill them, nobody wanted to say it out loud.
"I have a way, look, bomb collars. Put these on them, and if they don’t obey, we’ll kill them," Pang Meiqin didn’t mind playing the villain, taking out five black collars. She didn’t wait for Tang Zheng’s response and approached the five Germans, taking inspiration from bomb vests.
"No, we don’t want to die," the remaining Germans panicked upon hearing this. Besides the ones begging, a flight attendant turned to run towards the jungle.
Xu Biyun reacted quickly, darting out and catching up with her within a few steps, knocking her out with a blow to the back of her neck with the butt of her gun, and then dragging her back by the arm.
The flight attendant’s silk stockings and uniform were torn by the twigs, and her body was covered in soil, looking miserable, but no one sympathized with her. In this fight for survival, who would think that she’d be so unlucky to be assigned to Hammer Squad?
"Can’t you even handle this little task?" Xu Biyun yelled at the sisters and aimed the gun’s muzzle at the German newbies while Pang Meiqin easily put the bomb collars on them.
One young man took the opportunity as Pang Meiqin was putting the collar on him, suddenly lunging out and reaching for her throat, another hand pulling out a folding knife and stabbing at her shoulder, knowing that once the collar was on, it would be all over for him.
Pang Meiqin snorted coldly and grabbed the young man’s hand, twisting it fiercely, followed by a knee to his stomach, knocking him to the ground.
"Kid, want to die?" Pang Meiqin drew an M9 Pistol and jammed it into the young man’s mouth, loosening several of his teeth.
The three university newbies, including the flight attendant, were thoroughly intimidated and decided to obediently follow orders, remaining silent as if chilled by frost.
"Dantai, pick your men and set off," Tang Zheng didn’t want to wait any longer, "We meet at the pier by noon at the latest tomorrow."
Dantai knew that Tang Zheng’s mission was quite dangerous, so he left the main fighting force with him and took Cheng Cheng with him.
"I only need ten Conquerors, everybody, synchronize watches," Tang Zheng initially wanted to bring a few soldiers to train them, but considering they might affect the squad’s mobility, he gave up on that idea.
