Chapter 21: Chapter 21
...The reprieve I earn from chaos by selling my chasm is explicitly bliss...
Evelyn POV:-
I felt so exhilarated that what I used to feel about Adrian decimated from my heart and I just can't believe that it's real. The bond which held me and Lawrence so close to each other, I appreciate it much.
It's ebullient for me. I felt like the shackles that were binding to those absurd feelings for Adrian evanesce from my sight and I let it happen.
It was all replaced by those emotions of love and devotion I felt entirely for my husband- For Lawrence.
Before I knew it, night came as the darkness fell upon my surroundings. I smiled and walked back to my room. My heart began to race by each step I took closer.
A sheepish expression was formed on my features just by remembering that intimate kiss. It was truly a bliss feeling.
I opened the door and saw Lawrence lying on the bed, rubbing his temples.
A blush crept upon my cheeks in his presence. I walked closer and asked him in a soft tone,
"Are you alright, Lawrence?"
He removed his hands and looked at me. "No, A sudden meeting came up," I nodded, he must be stressed because of the work.
"Do you want coffee?" I asked.
He looked at me and smiled, "That would be much appreciated."
I smiled back and went to make coffee for him. Later, I came back with a cup of coffee.
"Here you go," I said, handing him the coffee. He mumbled a 'thank you' and began to drink.
"Lawrence, you can sleep in the bed. I'll sleep on the couch," I offered.
"No, you don't have to."
"Oh, come on, you can't sleep on that uneasy piece of furniture forever," I said annoyed.
"And you?"
"I am fine and I can fit in it, unlike you," I retorted. Lawrence finally sighed in defeat.
He knows that he can't win when I am being stubborn. I grinned triumphantly and laid on the couch and drifted to sleep, feeling excited about the upcoming event- Our reception..
***
Today is my reception and since the day has started I am yelling at everyone. First, at Lawrence for waking up late.
Then at the servants, because they are not garnishing the house according to the scheme I have selected. Then I yelled at Adrian for not getting enough stuff. It was stressful to do all the settings and when I am pissed.
I don't see the person in front of me, it shall face my wrath, I won't make exceptions. And right now, my patience is on peak and I had no intention of making any mistake.
What if something happens? No way, I cannot afford it, I have to adorn the house beautifully.
Urgh! Who the hell told me to do it myself instead of booking a hotel?
Well, Who was dying to be away from Adrian? Of course, me!
And right now, I have sent both brothers to get my stuff, they were being sochill and it increased my fury more, yelling at them and 'almost' throwing them out to get what I needed.
Danielle is walking right beside me and helping me to calm down. Waving her hands with a nervous smile but I cannot be at tranquil. I have a lot of things to do.
"You are not supposed to hang it there!" I yelled once again.
"Put it in the store room if you are done!"
"Calm down Evelyn. No need to vex." She said.
"How can I not be? Look, there's so much preparation to do, who's gonna do it?"
"We all will help you. Mama and Aunt went to see the catering, you are doing the decors and I have checked the list of the stuff, don't worry." She explained.
"Still, there are a lot of other things to do." I sighed, rubbing my temples. She smiled and said,
"Oh, look Lawrence!" She shouted . The mention of Lawrence stole all my tiredness as a glow lit my face along with a smile.
“Lawrence?” I quickly turned to see him but he wasn't there which disappointed me.
I truly need him and he is not here to increase my anger more, even though I am the one who sent him away, still....
“Oh, you sure are waiting for Brother.” She began to laugh as I sent her a death glare to shut her up.
Her lips were curled in a smile as she put her index finger on her lips to not laugh anymore and remained still.
"Oh, Relax Evelyn," Aunt Kyla came, chuckling to see me like this, I was not in the best condition.
Trousers with a crop top, hairs tied in a messy side bun and sweat rolling down even if the house is air conditioned, panting.
"Yeah, You don't want to overwork and look pale at the reception, do you?" Aunt Camila said as I sighed.
"How are the decorations going?" I smiled faintly at them.
"Fine," I looked away and yelled again.
"Don't put it there and wrap it around the railing!" I yelled again. They chuckled at me.
"You're still the same energetic Evelyn. Don't worry, we will help you with it."
They offered which lessened the weight on my shoulder. "Thanks." I smiled genuinely.
"and You know Aunt, I told Adrian to get all the things yet still that air brain didn't get sufficient decors. I told him to double check but in the end I have to send both brothers again to get things" I groan in annoyance, ruffling my hair, shaking my head in disappointment.
"And Lawrence, He is sleeping. Here I am working hard and he is! He didn't even bother to ask. Dear wife, do you need something?” I scoffed.
“No. What did he do? Slept all this time, relaxing. He could have at least falsely pretended to help but no. He is not here to help me! He was supposed to stay beside me!"
I complained about them as they all looked at me in amusement which astounded me about their smirks.
"What?" I asked.
"Evelyn, Brother is behind you," Danielle said once again, pointing behind me.
I exhaled and spoke in an irritated tone, "Not now, I am not in the mood for games."
"No, really." She said again.
"Prank Adrian, Danielle, not me, I am busy and don’t you dare to mention, Lawrence." I hissed, irritated.
"I have these idiots to get all the stuff." I huffed.
"And where the hell is my dress?!" I shouted again. I am anxious. I just want it to be perfect.
I wish I had reserved the hotel back then. So that I won't stress myself out and now I am so vexed.
"Lawrence better be prepared for a scolding for not showing me my dress," I mumbled, scowling under her breath.
"Oh? Is that so?"
