Chapter 15: Chapter 15
... The strings of fate we were never aware of, brought us so close to each other that we will never part again...
Evelyn POV:-
After calming myself down because of the previous confrontation I had with Lawrence, I went to the dining hall.
“It was nothing. Just intense eye contact. Nothing more. Nothing less.” Muttering, I walked down, hoping to shift my thoughts far away from him.
My face lit up with glee when I saw mother and father. I delayed no time in rushing to their side and hugged them tightly as if I am never going to let it go.
“I missed you guys so much!” A feeling of consolation that they were always with me- supporting and respecting my decisions gushed through me.
After filling my heart with content, I pulled away.
I grinned at them, "You're looking like a graceful lady." Mother said. I smiled shyly.
Father hummed in response, Mother turned her attention towards father and said, "Just like you, isn't it?"
"Yeah.... What? No,"
We all began to laugh at the lack of response by Father.
"Come join us," I said as we all sat down to eat. Everyone began to eat but I sat there in silence awaiting Lawrence.
"What happened Evelyn? You are not eating?" Uncle Shawn noticed and asked me. I smiled and answer,
"I am waiting for Lawrence."
"Have you seen, Kyla, Evelyn has become such a loving wife in just a day." Aunt Camila teased.
"I have learned it from my mother," I smirk looking at my mother who blushed.
"Like Mother, like daughter." Aunt Kyla said. Mother's face turned scarlet. My mother is really shy.
I am shy too, but only when I am alone when Lawrence.
I don't know what his presence does to me, how he entangled me in his heartbeat. I couldn't help but blind in his spell. It's eerie to think what effect he has on me.
“Morning Everyone. Oh, hey. How are you guys?” Lawrence walked in and greeted everyone- especially my parents.
“We are good, How are you, son?” Father asked and I felt a strange delight to see them talking.
“I am great. I hope Evelyn hasn't complained much about me.” He chuckled nervously, glancing at me for a second.
“You are early. I was going to!” I shouted from behind, motioning to him to come.
“I would love to hear as well.”
He took a seat beside me and passed me a smile and I smiled back timidly in response.
“Why?” I asked shyly, averting my eyes.
“So I could improve those flaws for you.” He whispered lovingly and my heart skipped a beat.
He said it in front of everyone, earning a series of awe except for a certain male who was not looking up.
‘What’s with him?’ I thought, glancing at Adrian who held an emotionless feature on his face.
“So, can I know them?” He asked in a low, sweet resonance.
“Huh? Oh, you.” I giggled, shaking my head, turning my attention to food.
“As you wish.” He chuckled. He sat down and asked me what I wanted to have for breakfast.
“What do you want?” He asked softly.
“I am not that hungry. I will go with a boiled egg.” I mumbled.
“Why? What is one egg going to do? At least have another.” He insisted.
“No, I am fine. I am just not hungry.” I shook my head.
“Come on, Evelyn. I’d be worried if you won’t eat.” He frowned, giving me another egg too.
“Just eat one more, for me, please.” He whispered lovingly. I wanted to say no but his endearing resonance refrained me.
“Maybe she doesn’t want it. Stop forcing her.” Adrian’s mutter came from behind, eating his food, ruining our moment by his words.
“Oh, Sorry, I-” Lawrence was about to look away sadly but I stopped.
“It’s okay. I will eat it. I can’t say no when you say please.” I hummed timidly, tugging my hair behind my ear.
“Really?” He asked happily as I nodded.
He passed me two boiled eggs and got himself a few pancakes and a tea- made by me.
The moment Lawrence took a bite of his food, Everyone stopped eating and looked at us, Aunt glanced at Adrian to say something but he frowned and sighed.
Adrian coughed in a fake manner to get our attention. Lawrence looked at him with a perfectly raised eyebrow.
"I wish I have a wife who'll cook for me and wait until I come and eat with her," Adrian said as my lips formed a thin line.
A shiver went down my spine as a strange feeling of joy and numbness took over me.
It happened not because of Adrian's words but because of Lawrence's stare which gawks straight to my soul giving me an eerie feeling.
"Really?" Lawrence asked as I turned to catch a glimpse of his fascinating face.
“Yeah, I made it for you.” Those deep eyes which draw the feeling of immense affection I've begun to feel for him- what I never did before.
With an innocent look, I gave him a straightforward nod.
We both stare at each other and his stare made me feel like my whole being was on cloud-nine. His lips curved upward as he offered me his hands,
"May I?" He asked decently. I took his hands in mine.
My soft and small hands made contact with his large and rough hands.
"You may," I said sheepishly. He put my hands close to him and kissed them slightly. My whole body trembled at his action.
A feeling of heavenly serenity rushed in my every vein. A sacred feeling of being touched by my husband provoked a feeling of love.
It's something I have never experienced before and to be honest it has become an eternal source of salvation to me.
Our eyes met and he gave me a look filled with an in-depth feeling of love and devotion. I looked away and pulled my hands away. I love how my hands made contact with his.
“Lawrence…” My features showed a pleased expression caused by the sweet act of my husband.
Lawrence is such a chivalrous man. He then leaned in and whispered in my ear.
"I told you, I won't touch you.. Unless you allow me to. So don't be scared. Please."
I gave him a sad look and passed a faint smile at him. His eyes flicker with a look which held the incapability of being explored. But a glint of sorrow was clear in his eyes.
“It’s not like this, Law-” I tried to speak but he forced a beautiful smile.
“It’s okay, don’t force yourself.”
I felt like my heart was being torn. I wish I could tell him about what I am feeling and what I am truly scared of.
‘It's not you. It is the person sitting in front of me; Adrian.’
"You guys have a room too," Adrian said interrupting our sweet moment together and that moment I realized, not him but everyone is here. Their eyes are fixed on us.
We awkwardly pulled away and began to eat in silence.
But we were one who was absent of sound as everyone was laughing loudly and teasing us and ignoring that teasing, we ate in silence.
After breakfast, We went to our room and Lawrence was about to leave for work and I handed him his office bag.
He thanked me and turned to leave but I held his cuff. He looked at me and I looked at him with a guile.
"I am not scared," I said in a low tone as if I am not aware of my words.
"You don't have to." Lawrence smiled.
"Bye."
"Bye,"
After Lawrence left I completed my sentence, "At least… not of you.."
After Lawrence left I went to mother,
"How's your married life going?" Mother asked and I smiled in return.
"Good."
"The sweet incident in the dining hall tells us that it's far from good," Father said. My smile grew wide as I nodded.
"I am glad. I was so scared that I might not have taken the wrong decision in that sudden panic," father sighed in relief.
"I don't have any doubts about your choice. Lawrence is such a nice guy," Then, We all began to chatter for a while and the rest of the day went normal.
