Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Lucian's POV

"I didn't hire you guys, so that you will stand in front of me, only to keep repeating the same statement over and over again" I shouted at the two men in front of me.

"I'm sorry sir" one of them apologized, earning a daggering look from me.

"Leave my presence" I ordered.

I was getting frustrated, it had already been twenty-four hours and I had yet to find Havana. I was going completely mad.

What am I going to do? I only have 24 hours left, and if Havana doesn't come to court to testify in my favor, then I'm done for.

Maybe I should put up a reward money, but that would also make it look suspicious.

At this point, I am so desperate that I am willing to try absolutely anything that works.

Havana's POV

"That cheap skate, I cannot believe that he is willing to stoop this low" I heard Qarinah's voice from the sitting room so early in the morning. What was wrong with this girl?

I came out of the kitchen and walked up to her.

"Look! Just take a look at the person you were defending. I am telling you this Havana. Believe it or not He is a monster!" she pointed to the television.

Lucian had just put up a reward money, for anyone willing to give him information about my whereabouts.

"Why did he…?" I was unable to finish my sentence when Qarinah jumped at me.

"What type of st*pid question is that. He wants to bribe you so you will keep your mouth shut. I think it would be better for you to just testify against him, he needs to learn that money cannot get him everything in life" Qarinah was so pissed. I was scared that her blood pressure was rising too much.

"Why are you so angry? I am the victim here, and you are getting pissed off over nothing. Qarinah calm down" I lowered my voice, trying my best to put her at bay, when I noticed that her breathing had become heavy.

Qarinah had a hole in her heart, she needed not to overwork herself or else she would….I can't even say it.

"Just take a seat, and have some water" I handed her a glass of water.

She carefully sipped the water, and it seemed as though she had begun to calm down.

"Maybe, I just need to take a walk around the block" She smiled at me, massaging her chest gently.

I nodded my head in agreement.

It didn't take too long after Qarinah had left that a letter had arrived from the hospital. I'm guessing it was one of her reports, I'll wait for her to come back so I can open it.

"Oh! That was a very short walk, "I said when I saw her entering the house.

"I forgot my water can," she laughed.

I was still holding the brown envelope in my hand when she came in

She furrowed her eyebrows.

"What's that?" She questioned,

"Oh! I was hoping you would tell me. It's for you. I think it's one of your medical reports" I responded, as she suddenly snatched it away.

"I'll look at it later" She forced a smile on her face and went into the room.

It was very suspicious, I mean it was unusual that Qarinah would skip her morning walks, especially when she felt disturbed.

I chose to ignore how she acted and decided to move on, but her mood that day got me thinking. She refused to eat or drink anything.

"I'll be back" she informed me, just before she was about to leave.

She looked dressed, and ready to go out for a serious meeting.

"But, where are you going?" I asked her, running after her. She was walking so fast that it became difficult trying to keep up with her.

"I'm going to come back. Bye!" She left in a hurry.

At this point, my suspicions were confirmed. It was unlike her to just leave the house without informing me, as to where she was going.

And why was she so dressed up, this all started after she received that envelope.

I wonder where she must have hidden it. I watched them drive away, and then I rushed to her room, searching everywhere.

I was lucky to find it inside her cupboard. I quickly read the paper inside, and my heart jumped to my mouth.

She…..she is dying. If she doesn't have the surgery before a month is over, then she is going to die.

Oh my God! Where is she going to get 10 million dollars for this kind of surgery? Not to talk more of the fact that she is going through a financial crisis. She can barely afford anything. I don't want to lose her, she is the only family I have left.

We are both orphans, and right from high school, she was the only one who understood me, and stood by me.

I cannot lose her, I will do anything to save her life, just anything.

I think I am the one who needs to take a walk now. I grabbed my phone and had my earplugs on.

"Hi," a cute guy walked up to me. I wasn't interested in having a conversation at that moment.

"I think I have seen you before" he kept on running after me.

"Yes, you are the one that has a reward money on her head. Do you stay around here?" He asked me, still trying to chase me.

I was no longer jogging, I was practically running to get away from him. It wasn't easy, since I was covering my face at the same time.

I managed to lose him, but I was scared to death.

I know that guy is going to tell Lucian about my whereabouts. These days, people are willing to do almost anything and everything for money.
