Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Third person's POV.
Edward stared angrily at his men, who came back with the same news that they couldn't find Samantha. Because of that, he stayed longer than expected at work, before he remembers that she might want to contact her daughter, and he decided to rush home, and when he got home, and didn't find them, he became worried. He was about to call the cops and his family members, when Mary showed up, with Whitney, she was coming from the other side of the house, but Edward lost control, he rushed at her, and gave her a hard slap on the cheek, without explanation. Mary held her cheek, like it would fall off. She have been working with them for years, and she have never seen the man act in such a way. Whitney shouted.
"Why are you hitting her Dad? She asked, with a cracked voice, as if she is about to break down in tears, as she dropped the things she was holding, and tried helping her, but she was just too little, that her hands, couldn't even go across her shoulder.
"I was looking everywhere for you, she knows, she isn't supposed to keep you out late". He says.
" But this isn't late Dad. Have you forgotten that today is the day for my outdoor practice? She asked, and that was when Edward noticed the outfit and the materials, that had just scattered on the floor, due to the slap given to Mary.
We were at the pool Dad. You cannot go hitting people the way you please". She says, and his jaw dropped. He was really over doing it these days, with his paranoia. First he attacked his own daughter, and now, he just hit his daughter's nanny. He was about to apologize, when Mary walked past him, while Whitney followed behind.
They got into the house, and set everything as supposed. One in her room and the other in the living room.
Edward went to the pool side, since he couldn't go back into the house immediately, going back inside would mean to be faced with his daughter's disappointed look. He just wanted to clear his head. He found himself a seat, and had barely started relaxing, when Maurice, the one that takes care of his pool greeted him.
"How are you Maurice? He asked, hoping to just discharge him, so that he could sit there for a while, before going back inside, The reason his guards cannot find Samantha, confused him even more. She had claimed that she has nothing to do with the messages he has been getting, only for her to deceive him into allowing her go, and now she is nowhere to be found.
"Whitney didn't come for her practice today, I hope she is alright? He heard Maurice say, which shocked him. He digested what he just heard, then he looked up at Maurice, as if he just said something he shouldn't have said.
Does it mean that his daughter just lied to him, so confidently? With the way they had looked, he knew something was wrong.
"Maurice are you saying that Mary and Whitney didn't come here today? He asked, moving closer to Maurice, who now looks scared of his sudden change, that he stammered.
"Well, yes... They.... I mean, I didn't see them today, unless off course, they decided to do something else today". He says. He regretted he said that, somehow, he wish he could take his words back.
Edward ran his hands into his hair, and roughened it, then he rushed back to the house. When he got to the living room, everywhere looked so quiet, he wanted to calm himself down and just ask questions, but he was too angry, that he screamed.
"Mary! Just one call, and she came running to the living room. Whitney also heard the call, she was worried that her father is about to get violent with Mary again, that she also ran down the stairs.
Whitney, it is good that you are also down, because I was about to call you". He says, and the two, exchanged glances.
Now that you are both here, can you tell me, where you were coming from, because, clearly, you never visited the pool side. Maurice didn't see you today, and you were not in this house, so where went you? Whitney didn't want to lie, but she couldn't tell him the truth too, so she thought of the best lie, she could come up with. She needed to speak first, else, Mary would spill.
"Alright Daddy, you win. I wanted to visit Anita at her house, I wanted to use their pool for practice. I know that if we told you, you wouldn't allow us, and that was why we lied". She says, but unknown to her, he was going to call Anita immediately. She watch him get his phone, and started calling Anita's house. Whitney started praying that no one takes the call, so that she could prepare their minds before he meets with them, but that was useless, she was tossed already, using them to lie. Those people are very loyal to her father, and would never believe any Ill thing said about him.
"Mrs Susan". Whitney froze in fear, hearing him call Anita's mother.
Please is Anita there? He asked, thinking she would say, they just left or something, but the woman sounded scared.
"Oh my goodness! Are you saying she isn't home? Where did she go? She was was asking the same question she was asked.
"Did she come to your place today? He went straight to the point.
"No sir, she didn't come here. She hasn't been coming here for sometime, at least, since you said, her mother might be trying to get her". She says, and that was when Edward ended the call, then descended on her.
Mary was already shaking, she didn't know if she could continue to lie.
"I resign". She says, even before he turned to ask her anything.
"You cannot resign Mary, until you tell me, where you took my daughter to". He says, but she refused talking. Edward pulled her by the head, and pushed her forward, she hit her head on the wall, and she fell backwards. Whitney rushed to her in tears, but Edward pulled her also by the head, and pulls her back.
Where did she take you? He asked with super charged anger.
"No where! Whitney says, but then, he made to hit Mary again, Whitney could not take it, she had to let the cat out of the bag, she could only hope, that the chip have caught enough, to save them from the animal, her father have turned into.
I met mother.
