Chapter 45: Chapter 45
After my break, I was very excited getting back to work, I wanted to see everyone, especially Maxwell, I wanted so much to see him, and tell him everything i had thought about over the week, but getting back to work, he started giving me attitude, and no matter how much I try to get him to speak with me, he wouldn't.
And to think that now, I was willing to give us a chance, and even though what I feel for him at the time isn't love, I was willing to give us a trial. Maybe I have been looking too hard at a closed door, when I should be looking at the open door Infront of me, but he just wouldn't give me the chance, he looks so angry with me all the time, but he still kept my secret, which made me know that he still feels something strong for me.
One month later, I could no longer hide the pregnancy, I didn't know why all of a sudden, I was showing more than expected. I am only four month gone. I got myself some new clothes, hoping to hide my pregnancy for another month, before I am sure, I won't be able to hide it anymore, when Jade sent for all of us, especially the heads, to meet with him at the board room. At first, I feared he must have noticed me and is about to embarrass me Infront of everyone, because lately, he has been acting really aggressive and demanding for too much, he even started making us work for more than the agreed time, he seem to be trying to reach a height, but nothing we do, pleases him.
I was packing my files and jotter, when Maxwell walked into my office. I was so happy to see him and thought that finally, he was going to speak to me, but he just spoke coldly.
"Boss said you should make it snappy, you don't have to tell the world you are pregnant, with the way you keep dragging yourself". He says and walked away. I was Shocked at his behavior, but I swallowed his insult, and followed him out, when I got to the board, everyone was already assembled.
"Do you have to always drag yourself while walking? If I didn't know, I would have thought that you are pregnant, or are you? Jade asked me in front of everyone, and I suddenly felt like the ground would open and swallow me.
"I am sorry, I was trying to get my Files and jotter, as I do not know what the sudden meeting is all about". I replied, and looked away angrily.
"Anyways, I don't think there will be any need for a jotter, as this meeting will be very brief. This company, have been transferred to someone else, I will no longer be your boss". Hearing that, I looked up at him in shock, and then I looked around, noticing that everyone in the room looked as shocked as me. Even Maxwell, communicated with me, through his eyes, expressing shock.
I understand how this news may have come to you all, but it isn't my plan, this company is my life, I wanted to see it grow, but when you are with the wrong person, you don't know, how your downfall will come, but that is by the way, I am glad that I have set up business in Africa, and that is where I will go back to with my kids". I have been greeted with the most difficult news to swallow.
Boss Jade is angry that his wife duped him and made off with her lover, and with his billions, leaving him almost bankrupt. She was waiting for the concluded contract with jade and the Apple, so that she could get the fund, gotten from Apple. Jade had trusted her with everything, and never suspected her for once, and that was why it was easy for her to do that to him.
He had sent his kids, back to Africa within the week, he told us that though he has friends, who would want to help and support him, he couldn't keep the company, he was owing too much already, and that is because of his wife, he needed to sell off the company to someone else, then, he could go back to Africa, and start again.
Just hearing the sad news, scared me even more. Why will his wife do such a thing to him? He is such a nice and caring man, I see how he took care of her, and to think that this is just one month after he has made so much name and money for himself, his voice snapped me out of my thought.
Your new boss, will be coming in, this afternoon, so I need you all to prepare your files and also those working under you, so that, you could explain to him, freely, and be ready to answer all his questions.
He is a very busy man, so he might not be around always, but he is also strict with work, he likes to get things done.
I hope you will all give him the same support you have given me, and ensure you work well, help him grow, because that will only make me more happy, to see that my dream, is growing.
I know that this past weeks have been really tough, I have been bossing you all around, and transferring aggression on you all, but I guess that is how hard the reality hit me, and if I have hurt your feelings in anyway, this is me, saying sorry". It was becoming too emotional for me, that I let out a tear, and quickly hid it, but I was too late, he saw it, and I guess he wanted to also shed a tear, which made him dismiss us, telling us that he would see us later, when the new boss arrives.
"Hey". I heard Maxwell's voice, when I got into the office, I didn't reply, I looked away, and tried getting my things set. It might be my last day in the office also, because, I may not be able to hide my pregnancy again, so maybe, as Jade is leaving, I could leave too.
I am sorry about how I spoke to you earlier, I guess I have not been able to get over what you told me". He says, but I ignored him, trying to get the work done.
He was about to speak again, when he noticed Jade coming, and he had to leave immediately. Jade was coming to my office, and he saw me clearing up as supposed.
"I would have loved to speak to you about something, but that should be after the new boss gets here". He says and it only scared me the more, but I still nodded, as to agree
I and my team were ready in two hours, we didn't do much that day, we were just waiting for the new boss, to walk right through the door. The wait, was unending.
