The next day, Edward woke up on the couch, he couldn't explain how he made it through the night, without loosing his mind. He had called everyone he could call, but waiting till 9am was a risk he wasn't ready to take, he wanted to be at the court before Samantha arrives.
That is what Joe told him to do, so that, they could trail the person who brought them.
Before 8 that morning, Edward was already there with his lawyer, and there was another lawyer there. Barrister Jerry. He is the most famous lawyer in the whole federation, and he never looses a case, he was sitting, and going through some files too. Edward thinks he is just there to witness the proceedings, so he didn't take him very seriously.
Edward had received a call from an unknown person last night, before he slept, telling him that all Samantha wants is to be with her child, therefore, he should just agree, and not try to fight, else, he might annoy Samantha, and she might just decide to expose him. Though even if he had wanted to fight, he would have still lost the fight.
Joe have also advised him to allow Samantha win the case, urging him not to try to fight for custody, which he was also ready to do, as long as his career is still kept in tact.
Then if they are able to find those behind her, they could deal with them first, then come back to deal with her.
Few minutes later, Samantha is seen accompanied by a police officer in the police Van. She was holding Whitney in one hand, while Mary was coming from behind.
She locked eyes with Edward, as soon as she walked in, and immediately looked away, but someone else was staring daggers at her, and when she looked her way, it was Edward's mother and younger sister. The police behind, directed them where to sit. It wasn't like the usual court dealings. The Anderson wanted it like that, since they don't have enough evidence yet to nail Edward with drugs. Apart from the pictures, they would need more than that, to be able to prove to the world that he is into drugs and child trafficking.
Soon the judge walked in, and they all stood to have her seat, before ordering them to sit.
Edward then noticed that Barrister Jerry, actually came to defend Samantha. He scuffs. For her to be able to afford such a lawyer, then she is, really a big shot now.
"This is just a gathering for the couple. Actually the woman is very nice, she doesn't want this to escalate, for she doesn't want the world seeing the doctor, as a beast, instead of the Angel he is supposed to be, so she is asking nicely, that she wants to be with her child. In other words, she wants to have custody of their child Whitney". Jerry started. The judge asked the lawyer of the defendant, if he had a contrary statement, but he only nodded, as agreed by Edward, then the judge asked that Samantha speaks before the case is concluded.
"I noticed that Edward is probably going through difficult times, and he is transferring agression on my daughter and her nanny, which is an offense, punishable by law. There are bruises all over my daughter's body, and the bandage on the head of Mary, her nanny, is as a result of his violence towards them, so before I loose a child, I will like to have her with me". Edward didn't object, his main fear is on the drugs, that would tarnish his image, and his license be taken away from him.
"Dr Edward, do you have something to say? The judge asked him.
"Yes I do. I just want to apologize to my daughter, and Mary.
I have been going through a lot lately, I will get help, so that I wouldn't hurt other kids". It was surprising, even Samantha didn't think it would be that easy, but since it has happened so smoothly without a fight, she knew, it must have something to do with Craig Anderson.
"Then it is decided, but there will still be a search on your hospital Dr Edward, so that we can be certain, that you have not already started transferring aggression on the kids, you are supposed to be taking care of, and you must get help". The judge says, and after signing some documents, the court was dismissed.
Edward had his face down, until they were out, then he walked out with his mother, who couldn't understand why he just gave in without a fight.
Outside the court, there was an entourage of Limousin, about four of them. The second one opened for Samantha, Whitney and Mary to get in, but before she got in, she looked back at Edward, and the others did too. She shook her head pitifully, before changing her facial direction.
When she was finally inside, she grabbed her daughter, pulling her closer to her, for they have officially, won the case.
Edward kept looking until the last one was out of sight.
"I thought Samantha had nothing". His sister says, still looking at the route, the cars took.
"I don't know how she became all that, but I am going to find out, and I will get my daughter back". Edward says, getting into his own car, and driving home, with his mother and sister, who still wants to know what is really happening.
Mary wanted to laugh, but her head aches, it was when Samantha noticed she was trying to smile, but couldn't, that she asked.
" Why are you laughing Mary?
"I am sorry I laughed, but you should have seen his face, he was so shocked, it felt like he was seeing a ghost. This is the best way to pay your enemies back". She says, and Whitney also laughed at what her nanny just said.
"But how long do you think Craig is going to help us mother? Whitney asked, which was more like a reminder to her, that she is not supposed to get too relaxed, for Craig is just repaying the favour.
"You are right my child. I will beg him to empower me, I can work, make my own money, so that I don't feel like a burden to him. It is unfair, being a burden to him, he has done more than expected for me". She says, pulling Whitney close again, for her to rest her head on her shoulder, while they enjoy the ride home.
