Chapter 14: Chapter 14

As they reached where the group of women were, one of the women present there smiled brightly at them before speaking in a cheerful voice.

"Oh Martina! You abandoned your friends, how rude!" She said with a dramatic expression, making everyone including Martina laugh.

"I'm the host, Lydia. Did you forget?" Martina said teasingly, making everyone chuckle. Lydia, a woman maybe a little younger than Martina huffed. Celeste stood quietly beside Martina when a younger looking woman spoke up.

"And who might this young girl be?" She asked eyeing Celeste from upside down while sipping her Champagne. Celeste looked at her with a soft smile. She had blonde hair, fair skin and green eyes. She was wearing a beautiful red gown. She looked a few years older than her.

"This is Celeste Rodriguez. Liam Rodriguez's wife." Martina said with a smile as she introduced Celeste to the group of women.

" Wow! You are so gorgeous. Liam's lucky. I'm Addy Moore. It's nice to meet you Mrs Rodriguez " Said a middle aged woman.

" Thank you. It's nice to meet you too and please call me Celeste." Celeste replied warmly. Mrs Moore smiled at her in return. One by one she was introduced to everyone and got to know them.

"And Celeste my dear this is Alina and Ruby. Alina is Mrs Moore's niece and Ruby is Mrs Atkin's daughter." Martina lastly introduced the girl in red dress from before who is called Alina and a girl in purple dress called Ruby. Both of them were similar in age and were a few years older than her. She smiled at them and greeted them politely.

"How old are you? 17 or 18 maybe?" Asked Alina very rudely. Celeste was taken aback by her sudden attitude. She looked at her with a dumb founded expression. Few of the women let out a chuckle and others were silently eyeing her waiting for her reply.

"I will be turning 24 in a few months." Celeste replied after a moment of pause.

"Oh I see! You look like a child so I thought maybe Liam married a child bride. No offence!" Alina said with a chuckle which didn’t sound funny in Celeste's ears at all. Celeste smiled lightly before answering. She already realised this girl was being a brat and she needed to stay away from her.

"None taken. It's just I don't look like an old rag doll like some people. It's good though, I won't be needing plastic surgery unlike some barbie doll." Celeste said with a laugh. Many of the women including Martina and Ruby laughed aloud.

"That was savage. Oh darling, I like you already." Ruby said in between her laughs while coming and standing beside Celeste. Celeste smiled at her but didn’t say anything more. Meanwhile Alina's face lost It's colour since everyone present there knew she had a lip and nose job done. So Celeste's words hit directly at her sour spot. She clenched her teeth but remained silent. As Celeste chatted with the women she found them quite entertained except few. She was talking to Ruby while drinking some drinks she had offered while getting to know her. When Liam called her and signaled her to come towards him she smiled and nodded before excusing herself from there. As Celeste moved to go towards Liam she felt light headed. She held her head and paused in the middle before shaking her head and then again continued walking but before she could two more steps forward she felt a pull followed by a loud sound of glasses crashing. In just a few matter of seconds she was lying on the floor surrounded by spilled drinks and shattered glasses everywhere. She couldn’t process anything as she was hit by sudden nausea which led her puking her guts out on the floor. She felt her head getting dizzy and everything started spinning. She could hear voices around her calling her names, screaming. She could hear Liam calling her, shouting her name but she couldn’t respond to anything. Everything disappeared and turned into black making her fall in a deep abyss.

When Celeste opened her eyes after that incident it was already morning the next day. She slowly got up and looked around her surroundings. She found herself in her bedroom in her and Liam's room. For a moment she was confused but then all of sudden everything that had happened in the previous evening hit her at once. She slowly remembered everything. Such a disaster. Suddenly she looked down at herself and sighed. She wasn’t wearing the clothes she was wearing yesterday. Instead she was changed into her pjs. Maybe Liam had changed her into it. She sighed and rubbed her hands on her face.

Ruby!

It was all her fault. She didn’t realise she was a bitch. That girl had spiked her drink and then pinned her dress with the table cloth which was why the moment she had taken a step fell down with everything on the table. Ruby was a snake in disguise whom Celeste didn’t recognise and mistakenly trusted her and of course the price was heavy.

Sighing and taking deep breaths to calm herself down Celeste decided to get off the bed and get freshened up.

After taking a shower and getting changed into comfortable clothes she went out of her room and headed downstairs to find Liam.

Fortunately Liam was still at home and doing some work on his laptop. He looked up from his laptop when Celeste entered the living room but didn’t say anything. He simply went back to what he was doing. Celeste got nervous by his cold reaction. She didn’t know how to approach him and apologise for her mistake, for embarrassing him.

But she knew she had to even though it was not her fault. So she slowly moved towards him before calling his name.

"Liam?" She called out in a small voice. Liam looked up at her from his laptop and waited for her to continue. His face was blank. She couldn’t fathom if he was angry or not.

"I'm sorry for what happened yesterday. It wasn’t my fault, believe me. I didn’t know that Ru-" Celeste couldn’t finish her sentence as Liam cut her in between by raising his hands. I paused in between her words and looked at him in confusion.

"If you can't handle alcohol then don't drink it but please don't embarrass me like this again. I told you it was an important event for me. I'm truly disappointed by your action Celeste." Liam said in a cold emotionless voice before getting up and moving away towards the staircase. Celeste stood frozen at her place as she took in his words. She didn’t know why but his words had hurt her a lot. He didn’t even let her explain. It wasn’t her fault. She never wanted to embarrass him. She too felt humiliated but she thought at least he would understand her and wouldn’t blame her. She guessed she was wrong but it wasn’t his fault either. No one would ever want to be embarrassed like that in a hall full of people by their wife.

The thought of him being disappointed by her made her heart sink and eyes tear up. She let the tears fall while moving towards the open window of the living room.
