Chapter 98: Chapter 98

REX'S POV

A freezing ambiance envelopes the large and expensive-looking office. The atmosphere freezes tensely in the elders' conference room, making my heart shudder with fear like never before.

Six grim-looking werewolf elders sat on the left and right sides of the office. On the platform of the office were the Alpha and Luna of the red flame pack. Each of them had a serious expression on their face.

Next to the Alpha and Luna seats was a cute, beautiful little girl whose legs kept swinging cutely without having an intention to stop.

Placed at the front of the little girl's seat was a little table that had a plate of grapes placed on it. A smile adorned the girl's face as she picked the grape and tossed it into her mouth one after the other.

The swinging of the cute little girl sitting next to Alpha and Luna while eating grapes in a dazzling cute manner broke the heaviness, giving the room a certain sort of ambiance.

My eyes couldn't help but drift toward the cute little girl repeatedly. Despite how the atmosphere was tense, it was as if Filippa couldn't feel anything, and that made me bewildered.

“Alpha.” The fifth elder suddenly bellowed and directed a fierce glare at me, whose back was straightened, standing in the epicenter of the room for all to evaluate and predict my end.

As a werewolf—I mean, a vampire—I've always known the amount of hatred the vampire and werewolf have for each other. Only for things to suddenly change abnormally.

I still find it hard to comprehend that a few hours ago, my hatred for vampires still existed, but somehow I suddenly became a vampire—shocking myself.

How the hell did that even happen? I stared at my feet in a daze. My brain couldn't wrap around the changes so quickly.

The fifth elder suddenly cleared his throat loudly, snapping me out of my daze. He gave me a fierce glare before turning to stare seriously at Luna and Alpha. “A hidden vampire had been in a werewolf clan since he was born, which is extremely dangerous. Even a fool would understand what this brat is meant for.” The fifth elder conveyed to the elders, including the Alpha and Luna, the red flame pack.

The sixth elder nodded indignantly. “That's right. The vampire tribe had gone too far this time. If we don't do anything, they'll keep believing that our werewolf clan is easy to ride. I say we have to kill him.” The first elder pronounced indignantly.

My breath hastened, and my eyes constricted upon hearing the mention of death! Ah! I clenched my fist hard and almost laughed at the absurd judgment.

I've lived with the werewolf clan all my life; how could they quickly mention death? Do they have no feelings? Moreover, shouldn't they all make a proper investigation before pronouncing me a dead person? I didn't even know what was happening. I'm still confused by what was happening.

However, my thoughts became calm the next second. I'm innocent of all the accusations I'm being accused of, and in my mind, I've always believed I'm a werewolf.

If it turns out that what the werewolf thought of me was an enemy to kill, I won't hesitate to shed all cordiality.

Even though I'm just a newly awakened vampire, I knew the power flowing through me was powerful beyond words. And risking it all, I had the belief that I could escape easily. After all, speed is the vampire’s forte. As long as I can escape, revenge isn't an issue!

The first elder also nodded in agreement. “Yes. We have to exterminate him, regardless of his age. Just the thought that he is a vampire spy at such a young age is enough to make my anger boil!” He banged the table righteously, causing me to jump slightly.

Filippa suddenly stopped eating her grapes. She puffed her cheeks and pulled her father's sleeve. She tilted her head and blinked her eyes innocently. “Dad. Don't harm Rex. Rex is my friend," she uttered, shocking me to the core.

Friend? I seemed to have received a strike on my soul. My lowered eyes immediately flew toward Filippa in shock. Filippa is the daughter of the Alpha; how could she call herself my friend? Besides, is she pleading that a vampire like me shouldn't be killed? Shouldn't she hate me to death now?

However, I won't deny that hearing her say such words brought a kind of resonance to my soul. My tense body gradually calms down. Just like earlier, Filippa's one call was enough to make me snap awake.

All the elders who had been arguing repeatedly stopped immediately, and their eyes fell on Filippa upon hearing her words.

The Alpha's expression changed slightly, and he looked down at Filippa with a calm expression. “Filippa, what do you mean?”

Filippa puffed her cheeks and stuck out her chest, feigning the stance of a lecturing elder. I couldn't help but find the scene comical.

Filippa's cheeks bulged with every grape she put in her mouth. She's just like a cute little hamster, stuffing the grapes in her cheeks in one go and eating them little by little.

Somehow, a thought suddenly flashed through my mind. I want to feed her like this for the rest of my life.

I didn't know where the thoughts came from, but I couldn't help but welcome them.

My eyes stuck to her cute face, and I couldn't help but get enchanted. Filippa is so pure, arrogant, innocent, and cute at the same time. She's so otherworldly!

“Dad, those boys bully Rex; why will Rex be punished? Rex has always been easygoing.” Filippa puffed her cheeks and seriously explained, like someone who had known me all her life.

Luna smiled in pride, and the Alpha's lips curved slightly as if to smile, but the smile never appeared on his face, perhaps due to the furious expression on the elders' faces.

“Filippa, he's a vampire. And he's likely a spy.” The alpha patiently explained to Filippa as if he were educating and reminding an adult. He picked Filippa up and made her sit on his lap.

The elders’ faces turned ugly; somehow, I can't help but think that this is likely not the first time that Filippa has innocently opposed the elders' judgment.

“He's a vampire, but Rex and we never knew he's a vampire," Filippa rebutted her father. "Rex, right?” She turned to ask while staring at me eagerly.

My lips couldn't help but curve into a smile. Who judges like this? Even if I knew something, at this point of death, would I tell the truth? However, I'm also confused about my identity; I didn't know anything. “No.” I looked Filippa straight in the eyes and admitted truthfully.

Filippa nodded in pride and turned to her dad, puffing her chest. "Dad, you told me everyone should be treated equally to make a good leader. Rex is an innocent vampire. He never hurts me or any of the werewolf members, so he's my friend. He can't die." She spoke without fear.

My breath hastened at Filippa's blatant opposition. She really had the gut, and she didn't seem scared at all.

Although the elders' expressions didn't change except for that ugly expression on their faces, I could see that they wished to tear Filippa apart so badly.

“Alpha, reconsider. Filippa is young and doesn't have an idea of how dangerous a vampire's continuous stay in our werewolf pack means.” The third elder cried out in opposition.

The Alpha's eyes narrowed immediately, but his expression turned firm the next second. “I know. We'll watch over his every action…”

“Alpha, but this measly vampire almost killed a pack member right in our pack.” The first elder interrupted solemnly, trying to remind everyone about why I should be eliminated rather than saved.
