Chapter 75: Chapter 75

Upon seeing the protests held in front of the betting company, a frown settled on Arya's face and mine. Isn't the betting just and fair? What are these sets of people protesting for?

Something suddenly clicked in my head.

For a group of people to come together to protest, I knew things weren't simple.

Nobody will suddenly decide to protest unless someone has secretly instigated hatred. That person must've planned to use the crowd's hatred to attack me.

Since everyone had bet a lot of money against me because they thought I'd lose, that person wanted to take advantage of my sudden winnings. Now the crowd had been successfully goaded.

However, when they were placing their bet, shouldn't they know it's win or lose? Why will I purposely lose in the fight with Lorelei if I'm strong? Am I crazy? Also, no one knew I'd be fighting with the rogues as my second trial, right? So, is there a reason to pretend? I wonder who's instigating the crowd.

I sneered. None of them came forward to congratulate me, unless half-heartedly.

Had I lost the trial, none of them would've protested or remembered me, but because I won, naturally, I'd incurred their wrath, so they wanted to spoil things for me. As if I'll let them.

If it was easy, then they should try training under Rex.

"Arya, let's go get our money." I straightened my back and purposely conveyed loudly. I began to pull Arya toward the company entry, not caring about the protests or anything.

Arya knitted her brows in hesitation, seeming to want to solve the current scene but not knowing how to.

Eve suddenly came forward with an angry frown on her face. She glared at me with dissatisfaction and hatred. "How can you be so heartless? You still dare to talk about getting your winnings? Did you know how many millions were bet against you? Don't you care about the money?" She snapped at me angrily while trying to act heroically.

Hearing Eve's words, the people's expressions toward me were immediately filled with hatred and dissatisfaction. It's as if they couldn't wait to tear me apart.

I pouted in feigned shock. "Why should I care about it?" I retorted with a beautiful and feigned clueless smile.

I tilted my neck in curiosity and continued. "Did you just hear what you said? You bet against me, which means you supported the rogues. Shouldn't you go meet the rogues to collect your money? After all, I wasn't the one you supported." I retorted calmly while smiling beautifully.

"You…" Eve became tongue-tied immediately, not believing that I'd have a perfect comeback to her words.

Upon hearing my words, Arya's eyes lit up, and she held my hand tightly as if to encourage me.

I chortled and took a step forward. "Why are you playing the victim because you lose? No one asked you to place a bet against me in the first place, right? The rule of betting and investment is placing the amount you can lose, isn't it? Also, this company must've had fair and just dealings in the past, which was the reason you all placed a bet today, and I'm sure this isn't the first time many of you placed a bet." I paused and smirked coldly.

"What if I had been the one to lose? Will you all protest on my behalf? A person placed a bet worth over 100 million to support me; what if I lost and the person lost that amount? Won't you be the one to laugh at me? So stop playing the victim; you choose to lose. When I was training hard and when it was spreading that I was crying before the competition, which one of you came forward to comfort me? Rather, you all dived in, placed more bets, and kept wishing for me to fail! You all should be shameless for bringing your team over to cause a ruckus! However, I don't care; it doesn't move me. Bye." Without waiting for another word, I confidently pulled Arya into the gambling center.

As soon as we stepped into the company, Arya let go of my hand and engulfed me in a tight hug. "Sister-in-law. One of the most sensible things Big Brother has ever done was take you in. Gosh, I love you so much." Arya seethed in excitement while kissing my cheeks happily.

I groaned due to the right hug. "Arya, the hug is too tight; you're not letting me breathe." I gently tapped Arya's back twice so she could release me.

"No." Arya shook her head and refused heavily. "Let me enjoy the face-slapping queen for a few minutes. Gosh, I love you so much." Arya expressed her excitement and hugged me tighter.

It was after a while that Arya reluctantly let me separate from her hug. We both held hands as Arya led us to an office.

Although I handled the people outside, that doesn't mean I'm confident in the team inside. What if the betting company tried to listen to the Power Axis Pack members instead of us? Despite my chaotic thoughts, I tried to keep a calm facade. I hope not!

Arya pushed past a transparent glass door to reveal a large, cozy office painted white. "Hi." We both greeted and stepped into the office.

"Princess Arya. Miss Maia." An average-looking man in his early thirties stood up to greet us.

The man's eyes suddenly fell on me; his eyes were filled with gratitude. "We've been trying to handle the protestants all along, but to no avail, yet you've done so easily. Thank you, Miss Maia." The man sat down and motioned for Arya and me to sit before explaining.

Seeing that what I had thought didn't happen, I couldn't help but sigh in relief. Thankfully, I'll soon be a rich woman. A grin couldn't help but surface on my face due to the thoughts. "No problem. After all, it's beneficial to me." I replied with a carefree smile.

The man's eyes lit up immediately. "I like your mindset, Miss Maia." He chirped and gave a thumbs up. "If you need a job later, don't hesitate to come to our company. I promise your salary will be great…"

Immediately, Arya glared at the man and interrupted with an angry scowl. "What nonsense are you speaking? Why will my sister-in-law come to you to look for a job? My brother and our family as a whole have no intention to make her work." Arya retorted coldly.

The man's calm expression was immediately overshadowed by embarrassment.

I glanced at Arya and secretly exhaled a distressed sigh. Only if she knows that I'll be leaving soon!

I waved my hand and cleared my throat twice to help disperse the awkwardness. "It's fine. We should talk about our earnings."

The man gave me a grateful look immediately and lowered his head. His expression turned serious, and he began to type on his computer for a few minutes.

Suddenly, he paused and raised his head to look at me. "Miss Maia's profit, in addition to the amount you placed, is a total of 475 million wolvese; which account will it be deposited in?"

"475 million?" My lips parted in shock. I made 475 million? Just like that? I'm a rich woman! But wait. My brows furrowed in bewilderment. If I recall correctly, everything should be a total of 380 million. How's it 475 million now?

Ary leaned back on her chair and crossed her legs elegantly. "After the rumors about you crying began to spread, all those who formerly placed their bets to support you quickly withdrew their money. To entice everyone's interest, the betting center increases the odds to 25. However, no one was willing to take the huge risk of supporting you." Arya explained calmly as if she understood what I wanted to ask.

Upon hearing Arya's explanation, my lips parted in shock. Had I known that such things would result in this, I'd have lent some money and placed a 100 million bet to support me. I could've become a billionaire that way!

'Don't be greedy.' Maia chided me immediately, making me snap out of my fantasy. I scowled at Maia unhappily. That wolf!

"I understand. I want it to be transferred into my account." I explained and unlocked my phone before tapping on my mobile bank app to get my account number.

Soon, my earnings were deposited into my account, and Arya's money was also deposited into hers.

By the time we were out of the betting center, not even a speck of dust was outside, not to mention the protesting crowd. I couldn't help but sigh in relief.

"Returning to the hostel?" Arya asked me, and I nodded my head.

"I have to do something," I replied. I've got to meet Rex since he promised to take me out if I won my competition. Also, I want to ask Rex about his favorite meal so I can cook it for him.

Upon hearing my answer, Arya winked at me, crossed her fingers, and grinned mischievously.

I rolled my eyes. Not again. What's the meaning of her actions anyway? "What?" I mouthed curiously.

"Never mind." Arya shrugged and waved at me. "I'm leaving. Bye."

We both dispersed and went in the opposite direction. Arya got into an expensive-looking pink car while I made my way toward the forest, hoping to find Rex waiting for me.

I haven't caught a trace of Rex since the day the trial was held. Saying I miss Rex is an underestimation of how I feel after not catching traces of him for a few days now.

The forest was silent except for the chirping of birds that morning. I sighed softly, understanding that Rex wasn't around this time either.

I bit my lower lip and yelled Rex's name, hoping that would make him appear. "Rex. Teacher Rex."

Unfortunately, despite several calls, I couldn't catch a glimpse of Rex. Even after calling Rex's number, I couldn't reach him. I tried using mind-link also, but I couldn't connect to him either.

I trudged to the hostel downheartedly, different emotions running through my system. How come he's so busy these days? Wait! Never mind, he's a ruler; it has always been a wonder how he has the time to train me.

I took out my phone in a bid to send a text to Rex.

'Rex, let's meet at the spot. Tell me when you're there.' I typed and sent a text to Rex before falling back on the bed languidly.

Being alone in the hostel gave my mind the luxury to run wild. Different thoughts began to run through my mind.

Inwardly, I knew I'd be using the meeting with Rex to avoid going over to Wyatt's mansion.

I couldn't help wondering what was wrong with Wyatt anyway. Why did he kiss me? What's the relationship between us? And why is everything so confusing…

Creak

The sudden opening of the hostel door from outside got my attention. I quickly sat up and turned to the door, wondering if it was Arya and why she was back.

However, my heart couldn't help but skip a beat when I saw a grim-looking Wyatt striding into the hostel.
