Chapter 63: Chapter 63

I only remembered Nancy telling me not to stay in the forest for a long time because of rogue attacks, but even after many visits to the forest, I'm yet to face any danger—a compliment to Rex.

However, what I don't understand is that this strange energy is attacking me for no reason. I haven't heard anyone complain about a strange energy attack, nor did Oswald, Wyatt, or Asher appear as if they were willing to tell me what was going on. What's happening? Why is this thing targeting me? I don't think I've caused enough trouble to be the subject of these attacks, have I?

It first happened in the school dressing room on the first day of school. The second was in my dormitory after taking a sip from the drink Arya gave me. Now, it attacked me in the restroom for no reason. What is the link? Is there something I'm missing?

I fell onto the floor while panting, my chest heaving heavily and my hands and arms aching a lot. I had just fought five low-level rogues after going through Rex's training, and it's the least to say I'm drained. I'm totally out of strength.

However, I knew Rex had slowed down his training by a notch today. Perhaps it was due to my occasional complaints about my aching arms. However, that still didn't lessen the weariness and pain I was feeling in my system. I need a professional massage.

I placed my chin on my palm with my elbow resting on my lap and panted gently to recover a bit. I tilted my head and stared at Rex, who was currently perched on the tree, staring at me with indifference in his eyes. "Rex."

"Ehn." Rex's indifferent expression disappeared, and his expression turned gentle, and his voice was particularly gentle and melodious to the ears.

I leaned back on a big tree, closed my eyes tiredly, and began to massage my forehead. "Oswald seems to have heard our conversation at that time." What about now? Even though I didn't complete his words, I knew Rex would understand what I meant, and I hope he'll clarify things for me.

Rex shook his head and jumped down the tree before sitting next to me calmly again. "Not at all. I know what I'm doing." He replied enigmatically, and I pursed my lips slightly in grievance.

What's the difference between asking Rex or not? I'm not even given a proper answer! Huff! I glared at Rex and stopped staring at him.

I looked down and began to massage my aching hands again.

I shook my head, knowing that I'd have no choice but to continue my training. Perhaps when I'm on a powerful level, I will be able to know more about all this mystery that kept unfolding.

"Rex, I don't understand what's happening, but I'm being besieged by a strange energy in the Power Axis pack. It attacked me three times for no reason. Do you think I offended someone powerful?" I finished with a small laugh, not expecting Rex to give me a reply.

Contrary to my thoughts, Rex's hands narrowed before they fell on my hands. "Your aching arms?" He casually asked, but his calm expression revealed that he didn't need an answer since he already knew the answer.

However, I nodded truthfully. "It's the result." It should've been my face. The thought of my face being banged by that weird energy sent a shiver down my spine. Had the door landed on my face, I knew I'd probably be deformed and lying on the hospital bed.

Rex's brows furrowed slightly upon hearing my confirmation. His face fell on my hand again before his gaze shifted to my face again. "Tell me more."

"Okay…" I truthfully began to explain everything to Rex, from the first day of school when the energy first attacked me to the one that had just happened in the female restroom a few hours ago.

By the time I was done explaining, Rex's expression and pressure were multiple times cold, and I couldn't help shivering a bit.

Suddenly, a thought clicked in my head. It can't be! Did Rex know something? My eyes lit up with joy. If Rex knows something, then it's easier to get an answer from him.

Upon seeing Rex's unusual behavior, I tilted my head and eyed Rex in bewilderment. "Rex, what's wrong?"

Before I could complete my words, Rex stood up and disappeared into the forest, and by the time he returned, he was holding 10 mid-level rogues.

I almost faltered after seeing Rex's actions and understanding the meaning behind Rex's actions. Didn't Rex tell me he'd let me rest? Why did he bring in rogues?

I almost shed tears of sadness. I can't help thinking that the Power Axis Pack should be grateful to Rex and me because, at this rate, rogues in the Power Axis Pack will soon go extinct.

And just as I expected, Rex threw the rogues to the ground with a bloodthirsty smile plastered on his face. "Fight with this set of rogues. I'll be back." Rex ordered in a cold tone and turned to leave, not bothering to pay attention to the sluggish rogues who were still locked down by Rex's pressure.

I frowned, stood up, and then grabbed Rex's left hand quickly, my actions stopping Rex from leaving. "Rex, what's happening to you? Did you know about that energy? What's the problem?" I inquired with worries plastered in my tone and voice.

Although Rex had stayed calm throughout my explanation, all his unusualities started after I completed my explanation, and that's really worrying.

"Nothing serious," Rex replied gently and pried away my hand, heaving a distressed sigh, which added to my worries.

However, before I could grab Rex again and ask him for more explanation about his current attitude, Rex sped away from the forest, heading toward the power axis pack.

My eyes widened in panic, and my heart was caught in my throat. I quickly took a step to follow him, but before I was able to…

The rogues, who weren't suppressed by Rex's pressure anymore, attacked me immediately, causing me to be unable to chase after Rex or think about him. Instead, I had to think about how to win over the rogues, who were now attacking me with all their might.

.

.

Even after thirty minutes of beating the rogues up, I didn't catch a trace of Rex, but after the fight, I'd gotten calm, and I didn't plan to leave the forest; instead, I chose to wait for Rex. Even though Rex seems angry, I know Rex won't make rash decisions. Besides, Rex had influence and strength, so I trust that he won't fall short.

I perched on a tree and swung my legs happily, enjoying the rare calmness that engulfed my whole being. By now, I'm sure the students would've left the school hostel, and they included Arya.

However, I have no thought of leaving the school hostel and returning to Wyatt's mansion.

Although things seem clear between Wyatt and me, the relationship between Wyatt and me is miles different from before, and it'll seem strange to go over to his place.

Although Wyatt had stood by my side and we seemed to have reached a consensus, I still had no way to meet Wyatt after doing that with Oswald.

Also, I'm leaving soon; I don't want more news to be stirred up by my going over to live in Wyatt's mansion.

Ping. The sudden notification made by my phone interrupted my thoughts.

A slight frown appeared on my face; nevertheless, I took out my phone from my pocket.

I unlocked my phone to see that Oswald had sent me a message. I scrunched up my face in disdain.

"Is Oswald trying to cause trouble again?" Whenever Oswald sends me a text, that means something big happened or Oswald is about to cause trouble. Since nothing big had happened, it can only mean that Oswald was trying to cause trouble.

Nevertheless, I tapped Oswald's message, wanting to know what Oswald was brewing this time.

However, in the next minute, I was stunned silly and couldn't help staring at the interface for two minutes.

Sent by Oswald were two pictures of Oswald's face.

In the picture, Oswald's face looked bruised, as if he had just had a heavy fight with someone.

My lips parted in bedazzlement.

Who has such abilities to fight Oswald and bruise his... I quickly shook my head and flicked my forehead to stop myself from thinking about Oswald. How's that my concern? I'm not his partner, am I? So why did Oswald send it to me?

After what Oswald does, does he think I'll sympathize with his bruised face? In his dream! Had I been there, I'd have even advised that person to beat Oswald's face more. That jerk's brain needs to be reset.

"Ugly!" I sent a text, which was accompanied by a disdainful emoji, to Oswald and threw my phone into my pocket. If he thinks I will pity him, then he must be dreaming.

I closed my eyes and began to hum to clear my chaotic thoughts, but still, that didn't help stop my curiosity. I can't help wondering with whom Oswald fought. Was it Asher? Or Wyatt? I quickly shook my head, knowing those two were the last to have such a fight with Oswald.

Even if they were, I see no reason for Wyatt and Asher to give Oswald, their Alpha, a bruised face. And the most important question is: will they be able to beat Oswald?

"Rex." I got down from the tree with a gasp, my hand covering my lips in shock.

A thought suddenly filled my head, and my eyes widened in disbelief. I pointed at Rex's bruised face, which seemed as if it had been punched, contrary to how it was before Rex left me a few hours ago. "Rex, what's wrong with your face?"
