Chapter 42: Chapter 42
"Oswald, do you think the boarding decision is right for Maia?" Asher's accusing voice drifted into my ear, jolting me up from my sleep. He was talking in a whisper as if he didn't want to wake me up.
I tried to feel my surroundings, and due to the smell that drifted into my nose and the soft bed, I only had one thought: Wyatt's Mansion. They brought me back.
But upon recalling the question Asher had just posed, I tried to stay quiet. So the rules were really made up because of me, and I wasn't being paranoid?
Great, he wanted to separate Wyatt and my closeness.
"Strange things kept piling up about my mate," he muttered possessively, and that left me amazed for a few minutes. So he's still ascertaining dominance right now? I had the idea that he must be directing it to Wyatt.
"I don't know what to make of this. Different rumors are flying; it's too late to change things." Oswald explained, but in simpler words, he seemed to regret his decision.
The room fell quiet immediately, and using that timeframe, I tried to check out my energy. I wonder if it had awakened or if it was back to being docile and sleeping.
I made a check, but unfortunately, I couldn't find any trace of the power, and it made me sad for a minute.
'We discovered it after training. Perhaps due to the exertion, it had disappeared again.' Maia explained, and that made my eyes light up.
Maia's right. I was able to discover the strength after my training with Asher, which means that I'll likely be able to control it when I'm finally powerful.
'Maia, we have healing skills.' I mind-linked with her happily. A natural healing skill is the best form of healing, but healing abilities are very rare. In the red flame pack, no one was bestowed with such skills.
'The members of the Red Flame Pack already had such a dark heart; why will the moon goddess bother giving them a healing ability?' Maia retorted angrily.
'Yes, you're right. A wielder of power can only have a pure heart, but those people don't have one.' I conceded only to remember something. 'Why will I have a healing skill when I'm out to take revenge?'
'Filippa, our situation is very different...'
"You find Maia in the water; do you think she's Filippa?" Oswald suddenly rose, which made me freeze in fear.
How did he suddenly think of the two? My palms got clammy with sweat, and my heart began to pound in fear.
"The spot I saw Maia is opposite the red flame pack's mountain. Also, I heard Filippa had been found and buried. According to the red flame pack description, Filippa and Maia are miles different. Maia may have trust issues, but she's not depressed like Filippa." Wyatt explained, which made me slowly exhale a mouthful of breath. I didn't realize that I had stopped breathing for a while.
So I was found opposite the yellow mountain. Thank goodness. The illusionary burden I've been carrying immediately disappeared.
'So Henry gave them the opposite details of us? That old geezer.' Maia scoffed indifferently, but I could hear the killing intent in her voice. I silently lit a candle for Henry.
'That's better. We need to thank him for the favor in the future. After all, it made us evade the search of the power axis pack.' I replied, and she fell silent in agreement.
"Who do you think Maia is? The transformation isn't complete, but she showed signs of pure blood." Asher raised which made me curious about what pure blood is. I'll keep it in mind and find out later.
"The only pure blood in existence should be Filippa. Who's Maia?" Wyatt posed, which made me stiffen.
"What's Filippa's wolf name?" Oswald suddenly retorted, which made me freeze.
My breath hitched in fear. Why are they suddenly relating me to Filippa? Damn, did I subconsciously make myself a suspect? Have I made a mistake by using my wolf's name? No one knows the truth, right?
"Filippa's wolf name is..." Asher suddenly paused amid his words, teasing everyone and making me stiffen for a second.
I almost parted my lips due to shock and fury, but I was quick to stop myself. My heart began to race in fear. That damn Asher! teasing at such an important time; did he know the truth or not?
I really wanted to shake Asher extremely hard and ask him what he knew.
As the seconds ticked, I found it hard to control myself, and Asher wasn't helping as he stayed silent and refused to say anything. I knew he must have a stupid, devious smirk on his face.
"How the hell am I supposed to know? Even the red flame pack doesn't." Asher suddenly yelled out in exasperation, and I felt myself exhale slowly with relief.
Gosh, I felt like I'd almost died due to nervousness and anxiety today. That Asher!
"You know Maia is the most powerful weapon in the werewolf pack now. Her real identity should be hidden. Asher, this one is all you. Wyatt too." Oswald suddenly emphasized this, which made me confused.
What did he mean, I'm a weapon? The more they explain, the more confused I am. Although I wanted to ask many things, I had the feeling that they'd hide the truth from me if they discovered that I was awake.
"Haven't you..." Asher suddenly paused.
"Maia might notice something soon…" Wyatt suddenly paused, and I felt his gaze fall on me. "It's not good to eavesdrop for a long time, princess." He warned, which made me smack my lips together.
Is he talking about me? So they actually knew I'd been awake for a long time. Of course, they're powerful; how won't they know? That means they were purposely saying those words to my ear.
In fact, I wasn't even eavesdropping. They were the ones speaking to my ears.
I decided to pretend as if I didn't hear their words.
Immediately, I felt a cruel poke on my waist, which made my eyes fly wide open in anger. "You can't play against the rules, Oswald." I scowled at him and pointed at him sulkily.
Oswald grabbed the hand with a mischievous smirk on his face and winked at me. "Darling." He called affectionately, which I believed must be feigned.
I was speechless at his shamelessness. When did I become his darling? Did he remember the relationship we had?
I snorted and shrugged my hand away from his hold.
I decided to be serious with them and ask for everything I wanted to know. Since they've been purposely talking to my ear, they shouldn't be reluctant to release more information to me, right?
"Don't darling me; you ignored me in the morning, but when you knew something, you called me darling. Tell me what's with the drink and what's happening to me. What's with the pure blood thing? I've always been a normal omega, ain't I?"
"Maia, you're more powerful than the ordinary omega you think you are. If I'm right, you've got different pure bloods running through your system, but they seem to have been suppressed by different poisons. If it wasn't for the drink you drank that triggered it, we might not know that you were this powerful." Asher explained, which shocked me.
Wait. I'm more powerful than I knew. Is that why my uncle has been drugging me? Did he know I was powerful beforehand? Then why didn't my parents tell me anything?
____
'Mom, I'm just an ordinary omega. Why am I not an Alpha like Dad? With that, I'll be able to control the pack better.' I cried out as soon as I made my first transformation and discovered that I was an Omega and not the Alpha I always expected.
When I discovered that my wolf was just an ordinary fluffy omega wolf, I was furious and angrily blocked Maia, which was the reason no one in the red flame pack was able to relate to my wolf.
Mom bent to my level, rubbed my head endearingly, and comforted me: 'Filippa, you're more special than you think you're; you aren't just an ordinary Omega wolf. When you're eighteen, you'll know more about you.' Mom said, but I pouted, thinking that she was just saying that to comfort me.
What's special about being an ordinary omega?
Dad wrapped his hand around me and carried me. He poked my nose playfully and said, 'Filippa, don't be sad. You'll certainly be special and more powerful than any Alpha in the future.'
I pucker my lips in grievance and tried to get down from Dad's hold with feigned anger. Dad agreed and let me down. 'Mom, Dad. You're hiding a secret from Filippa. Filippa will also hide away.' I mentioned with feigned anger and giggled childishly, my sadness disappearing immediately. I transformed into my wolf and dashed into the forest, expecting my parents to run after me immediately.
'Come here, little princess.' Mom and Dad's voices rang behind me as they transformed and ran toward me.
_____
How come I never recalled all these memories until now?
Unfortunately, Mom and Dad died before I was eighteen, so all those secrets they said they'd tell me had become inaccessible to me. I wonder if there'll be some things left in the red flame pack.
"What's it, Filippa?" Wyatt's hand fell on my hand with worries, and he inquired.
