Chapter 41: Chapter 41

I stared at my hand shakily while staring at Arya, who whimpered in pain as she tried to stand up.

I couldn't believe I just did this. Where did this strange power come from? How was I capable of pushing Arya away from me at such a distance? Didn't I make such a casual push? How? My body trembled as I watched blood drip from Arya.

However, before I could decipher it, a fierce clash between the two energies made pain rock through my whole system and made me fall to the floor, down on my knees.

"Ahhh!" I grabbed my head in pain, whimpering sadly.

What was used to attack me was different from poison; it was just like a strange incident in the dressing room, so who owns this energy?

What is the person's mission? Why is this person attacking me? Aside from all the childish bickering with the ladies, I was sure that I did nothing to anyone here, so who's out to get my life?

In just a few days, I've become a regular attendant of pain. What's happening to me?

"Ah." I cried out as the temperature of my hand began to increase and ache.

Spontaneously, my hand began to stretch from its clenching state, and before I could process, my right hand began to transform into a claw.

My head began to ache, and my eyes began to turn blurry. A dizzying feeling overwhelmed my whole being.

Strangely, all I wanted to do at this moment was laugh. How could I trust anyone? They're all the same. Nobody wanted the best of me. I was wrong. I should have trusted no one.

"Maia, what's wrong with you?" Arya, who had successfully stood up from her position, asked me with a helpless and shaky voice.

I lifted my head and glared at her, wincing due to the extreme pain. "What's wrong with me? What did you put into that drink?" I growled out while trying to stop my claw from ripping everything apart.

Arya tilted her head, her eyes widening in shock. "Drink? I put nothing into the drink." Arya's voice raised a notch as she exclaimed in bewilderment.

Arya suddenly gasped and pointed to my face, her expression changing. "Maia, what's going on with you? Your eyes are changing color. Are you a…" Arya suddenly gasped and paused during her sentence.

"Cousin Wyatt, please hurry up; something is wrong with Maia," Arya yelled. I knew she must have used her mind-link to call them.

Immediately after Arya completed her words, my energy transferred to my eyes as if to protect me beforehand, and at that moment, my eyesight became sharp.

At that minute, I was able to evaluate and see through Arya clearly. Due to the energy, my perception became sharper than normal, despite my blurry eyesight.

I could see that Arya wasn't just an ordinary beta, and she had powerful blood in her system. She seemed to be a… A word suddenly clicked in my mind. She's a…

BANG!!!

Before I could deduce it, the door was suddenly kicked open by Wyatt, who entered our hostel in addition to Asher.

I shut my eyes quickly, not wanting them to see my eyesight.

Different things that involve me have been occurring, and I don't want them to think of me as being abnormal.

The room became silent, but a few seconds later, their aura turned sharp, as if they had just noticed our current situation. "What just happened here?" Asher scowled.

Arya took a deep breath, her voice quivering as she truthfully explained. "I handed Maia a chocolate drink after she returned from the gym. She seemed hesitant at first, but soon she agreed to drink it. A few seconds after drinking two gulps of it, she started acting weird. I tried asking her what was wrong, and she pushed me away instinctively, which she seemed shocked and remorseful about."

"Your blood is the one over there? And you meant Maia did that?" Wyatt and Asher asked in a voice filled with disbelief.

"Yes," Arya replied truthfully before continuing. “And then she started displaying some weirdness. Suddenly, she fell to her knees, and her right hand changed into a claw. When she raises her head to stare at me, I seem to see her eyes change into gold."

"Golden?" Wyatt and Asher exclaimed in disbelief.

"Can I see the drink?" Wyatt asked in an indecipherable tone.

While trying to hold the pain that seemed to want to tear me apart, I heard soft footsteps approach me.

"Here brother," Arya commented.

Although I didn't open my eyes, every action was as clear as if I were watching it. I was able to pick up the sound of Arya picking up the drink and returning to Asher and Wyatt.

A depressing and tension-filled silence filled the room.

"Who gave you this drink?" Asher scowled a few minutes after the silence.

"I picked it up in the fridge," Arya replied seriously.

"Weird," Wyatt uttered immediately, and that made me frown. They know something about it, don't they?

"I'll treat you now, so you can go to school. I'll find out who delivered this sort of drink into your hostel."

"Big brother Asher, is it…"

"Shh." Wyatt cautioned, and Arya fell quiet immediately. My brows knitted due to confusion. What's wrong with this sort of drink? They all knew something, didn't they?

Footsteps made their way toward me. The calm and almost nonexistent sound made me know that it belonged to Wyatt.

Wyatt bent to my level and touched my hand. I flinched and shrank away from him.

"Don't touch me, please; let me be," I whispered in a shaky tone, which shocked me as soon as I spoke.

The voice that drifted into my ears was miles different from my typical voice. This voice sounded smoother and clearer than my normal voice.

Now I find many questions piling up, and the more they pile up, the more confused I am because there's no one I can speak to. There's no one to give me answers.

I've always thought that I'm just an orphan who's out to get revenge on Henry, but now I'm getting confused.

Who's the real me? Am I just Filippa, the princess of the Red Flame Pack, or is my status more than that?

"I'm sorry, Maia. Will you open your beautiful eyes to look at me?" Wyatt inquired in a calm voice, not bothering to touch me, but I seemed to hear the trace of heartbreak in his voice.

Why is Wyatt broken and sad? I hate to hear his sad voice; it hurts me.

I attempted to shake my head. Even though he's coaxing me, how do I believe that he didn't know anything about this? How do I believe that he won't hate me after what I did to Arya? She's his cousin after...

Ah! I cried out in pain, and my hand moved to my aching stomach, my throat hurting.

Despite the fierce struggle and defense of the invading energy, I could see my energy taking over and doing everything to let this invader out.

The clash at the final round made my voice hoarse.

The invading energy suddenly expanded, which made my own energy do the same, and the result swept me away from my knees.

Before I knew it, I was in the air, clutching my hair while gasping for breath.

The stupid energy suddenly moved toward my eyes craftily for defense, creating a burning hotness that made my eyes flee wide open.

Gasps filled the room immediately. My eyes met Asher's. "Pure golden and red. You…"

Wyatt flew toward me and grabbed me. His hand wrapped around my waist, and his hand flew toward my hand placed on my stomach. His expression changed into pain upon making contact with me.

A few seconds later, Wyatt's eyes also changed into a mismatched color: black and golden. It was as if he wanted to defend himself from the pain.

"Maia, calm down. You're hurting us." Wyatt comforted me in a gentle tone. He raised his hand, and I could see a trace of a cut in his hand, which made his hand bleed.

And it made my thinking more chaotic. Even Wyatt was hurt by me. Who am I?

I raised my hand and stared at him pitifully. I didn't want him to bleed. I hate to see that painful expression on his face, so I raised my hand to meet his hand and tried to channel my power toward his hand, hoping that would help him heal. I sighed in relief when I saw his wound close itself and heal.

"Not my fault; I don't want to hurt you. I'm sorry…" Before I could complete my words, the black energy dissipated from my body, and it made my energy return to its normal, docile state.

A weakening feeling overtook my whole system, and before I knew it, I blacked out.
