Chapter 137: Chapter 137
My lips parted in surprise, still unable to comprehend what Wyatt had just told me. I have always wondered what identity Lorelei had, but it turns out that Lorelei is a witch.
A witch? But how? How did a witch come to live in the werewolf clan? Aren’t werewolves and witches enemies? Wait.
Talking about witches, I have always believed that they don't exist anymore. How can there be one alive… No. No, it’s multiple now.
Suddenly, the confusing thoughts that had always pervaded my mind began to click. No wonder Rex angrily fought Oswald when I explained about the sudden, strange force that collided with me back then.
It turns out that Rex already understood everything!
“It turns out that that huge force was all Lorelei’s handiwork. The drink in the fridge that stirred up my power was also Lorelei’s handiwork.” I muttered while staring into the distance. If the four knew that Lorelei was behind it, why were they hiding it from me? I guess there must be more to this!
‘Even Oswald isn't confident enough to take me, who do you think you are? With that measly strength, you displayed in the room?’
It turns out that the clues have always been right in front of me, but I’m always too stupid to decipher them. Goddess, thinking about it made me boil with fury. I really want to strangle that bitch to death. I’ve never provoked her before, but she has already tried to harm my baby and me several times!
‘Filippa.’ Maia suddenly called with a scowl, interrupting my thoughts. “I think the reason Rex and Wyatt weren’t willing to explain anything yet was because you may not handle it well. If you don’t calm down now, Wyatt might not tell us anything again.” She chided. Maia’s voice was laced with rage, but I knew more of the rage was directed towards Lorelei.
I took a deep breath to suppress the thoughts and fury that were surging in me. Maia is right. I can’t lose it. I have to think of my baby and Wyatt with whatever steps I plan to take.
Moreover, Lorelei seems to be more powerful than I could have imagined. If I rashly go to face her, I might be the one to suffer a lot.
But one day.
I clenched my fist hard and inwardly proclaimed. One day, I’ll pay Lorelei for all that she has done.
And if I could recall the words Lorelei said in my dream, Lorelei wished I had died with my parents.
If I’m to assume, I think Lorelei already knows my real identity is Filippa. Perhaps Lorelei knew something about Mom and Dad’s deaths or more of the poison I have been ingesting back in the red flame pack.
What if the poison isn't actually meant to kill me but to render me useless before they finally kill me?
But if it was that, why were they willing to go through all these stresses before killing me? Regardless of how I see it, I think there’s more to all the suffering I went through in the Red Flame Pack. Perhaps visiting the red flame pack and Henry will uncover some of them.
‘Yes, I think there’s more to it, and we will find them out soon. If it turns out that Lorelei and the witches are behind the deaths of Mom and Dad, we will never let them go.’ Maia seethed.
Although, when it comes to fighting, Maia is the impulsive one among the both of us, this time I could feel that Maia’s rage is several times greater than those in the past.
Wyatt grabbed my hand, and he squinted his eyes coldly. “Force?” He coldly pronounced.
“Yes.” I took a deep breath to suppress my anger, and I nodded my head calmly.
“The first day I arrived at school, a huge force suddenly knocked me onto my butt in the dressing room. Lorelei had given me a curious look at that time, but I didn’t think too much of it. Yes, some other times also. I complained to Rex at that time. But Rex didn’t give me a reply and stormed off instead. By the time he returned, Oswald's and Rex’s faces had bruises. Also…” I told Wyatt about the time Lorelei had met me in the forest and said a bunch of words to me.
Wyatt’s eyes turned cold and sharp, and his grip on my hand turned tighter. “Why didn’t you let me know?” He growled
I shivered at Wyatt’s growl fearfully. To be honest, I didn’t even think of telling Wyatt at that time. I might not have raised it with Rex if such occurrences hadn’t happened before meeting with Rex. I lowered my head and twisted my fingers apologetically. “Wyatt, I’m sorry.”
Wyatt raised my chin to make me stare into his eyes. He planted a kiss on my cheeks and ran his hands through my hair, signifying that he wasn’t annoyed and was only concerned about my safety.
My mood became joyful upon realizing that Wyatt wasn't annoyed at all.
I tilted my head in curiosity and decided to ask that one question that had been pervading my mind ever since I knew Lorelei's identity. “But how did Lorelei end up staying in the power axis pack? If I was right, the werewolf clan and witch tribe are also enemies. Don’t tell me...” My eyes squinted and my lips parted in a gasp as several reasons conjured in my mind.
I reached out and grabbed Wyatt’s hand abruptly. “It can’t be that you’re all puppets of the witch's tribe, and the real owner of the power axis is the witch... ouch!”
Before I could complete my sentence, I received a flick on the forehead, stopping my rambling.
I smacked my lips together and stared at Wyatt with grievances written in my eyes.
Wyatt chuckled and lowered his head to plant a kiss on my forehead as if to comfort me. His lips fell next to my ear, and he blew warm air into it, making me shiver. “Silly thinker.” He whispered
.
.
.
‘Alpha Hudson. Alpha Hudson...’ A slightly panicking voice suddenly called and strode into the conference room.
Before the person could complete his sentence, Alpha Hudson, Beta Finley, and Gamma Louie immediately sprang up from the chair they were sitting on.
Their bodies were tense, and their faces were filled with vivid worries. “How are they?” The three clenched their fists and inquired with worry, their eyes fixated on the doctor, who had just stepped into the room.
The doctor bowed down to them. “Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. I’m sorry, but the babies have yet to show signs of coming out. And performing surgeries on them is out of the question.’
Alpha Hudson, Beta Finley, and Gamma Louie’s expressions changed immediately.
“It’s been two days now since all of them have gone into labor; are you telling us our wife and unborn babies might die?’ They growled
Facing the pressure of three powerful people made the poor doctor’s legs tremble.
Although the doctor wanted to nod his head and tell them they should get prepared for the words, the cold aura emanating from the three made him unable to take the risk. He quickly made a decision that left him with determination.
The doctor quickly shook his head and took a bow before replying with a trembling voice. ‘No, this doctor will do his best to not lose any of the mothers and children...’
‘That’s right! If anything is to happen to any of them, you won’t go scot-free.’ Alpha Hudson growled and raised his finger, signaling for the doctor to get lost.
Upon hearing that he should leave, it was as if the doctor had been granted amnesty. He quickly bowed to them and scurried out of the conference room.
As soon as the doctor left, Beta Finley plopped onto his chair with a pale face. He grabbed his hands together and facepalmed himself. “I put my Natalie in danger. Natalie, I’m sorry.’ He bemoaned
Alpha Hudson and Gamma Louie also fell beside Beta Finley, each of the two filled with their respective sad expressions.
Although they wanted to offer a comforting word, no one was sure if Lena, Natalie, and Phoebe would survive the ordeal.
Gamma Louie clenched his fist and gritted his teeth hard. “It’s all my fault if I hadn’t brought that corpse home…’
Five months ago, during a rogue search, Gamma Louie came across the fresh corpse of a dead Lycan. Lycans had always been known to be extinct, and it was surprising for Finley to have come across that one corpse.
Perhaps that was the only one left. If they were more than that, Louie knew the werewolf clan would have heard of them.
Filled with curiosity, Louie took the corpse and returned to the power axis pack.
After a series of discussions, somehow the three came to an agreement.
Lycans are known to be powerful. Even the pressure emitting from a dead lycan isn’t something an ordinary werewolf could bear.
Facing the repeated attacks from the vampires and witches, Alpha Hudson knew the blood of a Lycan might be the turning point for them and the whole power axis pack.
The alpha wife, Lena, is pregnant; Natalie is pregnant; and Phoebe is pregnant. Injecting the pregnancies with the cleansed, pure lycan blood means their children have a higher chance of becoming powerful.
And they had done that before burying the Lycan properly.
The pregnant women are always being watched regularly, and nothing abnormal was discovered, which made them relieved.
Who knew they'd all suddenly go into labor and find it hard to give birth?
The more Beta Finley thinks about the pain his wife might be going through, the more regret and ache that surge through him.
“Alpha. Alpha. Bad news. The witch has started attacking the pack, but this time it’s worse. Whenever any of our werewolf members face the witch, they’ll freeze in a stance and become powerless until the witch kills them.”
“What?”
