Chapter 136: Chapter 136

Wyatt stretched out his hand to rub my back as if to comfort me. He leaned forward and brushed his nose with mine. “For daring to bully my baby, how should we punish him?” He responded calmly, playing along to my antics. My face brightened up with a smile immediately.

Asher sprang up, and he glared at the both of us immediately. “Hey, what the hell are the both of you on? Isn’t it enough that I’m being given dog food despite helping you couples…”

“Hubby, kick his ass!” I interjected Asher’s words while flashing a ruthless grin at Asher. Immediately, I batted my eyes at Wyatt innocently and rubbed my head in Wyatt’s chest coquettishly.

Wyatt nodded his head in agreement. He gently separated from me and straightened his back. Without hesitation, Wyatt began to stride towards Asher.

Asher’s eyes turned half-lidded, and his eyes fell on Wyatt in disbelief. Seeing Wyatt after him, Asher began to run around the ward as if, in that way, he'd be able to evade Wyatt’s kick. “Wyatt, you’re punishing me for her?” He cried out amidst running.

Wyatt leisurely followed after Asher in a fast and calm stride. “Be still; my Maia can’t be wrong,” Wyatt responded calmly.

My lips curled up in a cheer, and I flailed my legs happily. “Asher, stay still. You can’t stress my Wyatt. It’s just a kick in the ass. Before you know it, it’ll come and go. Hubby Wyatt, go, go, go. You’re the best!” I hailed while laughing at their interactions.

My eyes crinkled in joy. It’s been a while since everyone has been so relaxed. Even though it’s just for a second, I can’t deny that we need a second to succumb to happiness and forget the misery and unhappiness in our lives.

I hope it won’t take long for things to get better and everyone will have a smile on their face. Including Asher finding his mate. And most importantly, Rex finds his happiness.

At the thought of Rex, my mood plummeted, and a rueful smile appeared on my face. It felt as if Rex and I had been separated for years, and the thought hurt a lot.

Even though I wonder how Rex is faring after the incident with the vampire, I’m afraid that chatting or calling Rex might worsen things, so I can only think about it and nurse the sadness in my heart secretly.

Hearing me laugh and cheering Wyatt, Asher turned back and glared at me.

Unfortunately for Asher, his legs suddenly hit the couch, causing his steps to falter.

Without giving Asher the chance to nurse the pain, Wyatt stretched out his leg and gave Asher a fierce kick, making him fall on the couch. He glared at Wyatt and pointed at him unhappily. "Ouch, Wyatt, you betrayer!” Asher’s eyes suddenly fell on me enigmatically. “And Maia, don’t think I’ll let this slide. It’s just a while until you become my student again.” He snorted and sat on the couch properly.

I froze in shock and turned to Asher before staring at Wyatt in disbelief. How can Asher be my teacher again? No way!

If I had known it'd result in this, I'd never even dare to play such a scheme. “Wyatt, is Asher right?” I raised my head and fixed my stare solemnly on Wyatt.

“En,” Wyatt responded calmly; he ran his hand through my hair and helped me lie on my back comfortably.

I shook my head and harrumphed at Asher unhappily before grabbing Wyatt’s hand and staring at Wyatt solemnly. That jerk had tossed teaching away for no reason; I don’t want him to teach me anymore. I shook my head like a rattling drum and poured at Asher in contempt. “Wyatt, I don’t want that person at all. Once gone, never returning.”

Asher let out a loud laugh and casually placed his hands behind his head. “Haha, such an interesting poem, Maia Hayes.” His lips rose in a cunning smirk.

“Don’t think about it. Doesn’t even lay in Wyatt’s choice.” He retorted, leaned back on the chair, and grinned mischievously before eyeing me from head to toe with a cruel smirk that sent shivers down my spine.

The playfulness in me disappeared immediately, and I turned to Wyatt, seeming to understand the underlying meaning of Asher’s retort. It seems Asher wanting to teach me must be due to the things happening. What’s happening? This time, I want to know everything.

I grabbed Wyatt’s hand and stared at him solemnly. “Wyatt, what’s going on? About the poison? The pack enemies? Lorelei? In the pack and Oswald…”

Before I could complete my statement, Asher stood up and left the room while whistling leisurely. I snorted at Asher, knowing that he was leaving the ward in order to not let out any words to me.

“Be good.” Wyatt stroked my hair and gently tried to pry my hand away from his, but I held onto his hand tightly, giving him no chance to

I didn’t know the reason Wyatt was hiding things from me, but I’m done with it, and I want to know everything now. I shook my head. “Wyatt, I can’t, okay?” I stared at him seriously. I can’t be good and keep quiet when everything is like this.

“If you’re thinking I’ll freak out, I won’t. I promise, okay? I have gone through a lot. Far more than anyone can imagine. Tell me. Okay?” I implored

Wyatt cupped my cheeks gently. “I knew that, babe. That’s why I’m trying to make you happy and mend your past... “

A grip of sadness overtook my heart, and tears pooled in my eyes, seeing that Wyatt had no intention to reveal anything to me. I took a deep breath and stared at Wyatt seriously. “Wyatt, poison is nothing to me. In the past, I ingested poison unwillingly daily—so much that I can’t count. Not to mention the countless assaults. I didn’t let any of them out when I met you, right? That shows how calm I can be… Wyatt.” Before I could complete my words, Wyatt suddenly engulfed me in a hug, making me call his name in astonishment.

Wyatt grabbed my hands, his expression dangerously dark and cold yet filled with heartache and pain. “Who’s it? Tell me, I’ll go over to kill that bastard right now.” Wyatt seethed, his voice dark and cold with rage.

I shook my head, having no intention to let out any revelations to Wyatt. “No. Only I know what he did to me after the death of my parents. Revenge is sweetest when I take it myself. At first, I didn’t want to pursue emotions because I knew I'd leave the power axis pack someday...”

Before I could complete my statement, Wyatt’s hand suddenly grabbed a hold of mine.

My lips raised in a faint chuckle, and I rubbed Wyatt’s hand in response. I stared at Wyatt seriously. “How can I leave my hubby? I can’t bear to be tossed about.” I responded seriously.

Wyatt lowered his head and placed a gentle kiss on my lips. “At first, Lorelei was introduced as the powerless and doted princess of the wizard king. She was left in the werewolf clan to prevent her death due to the witch tribe’s competition for the throne. But it runs deeper.” Wyatt explained

My eyes widened, and I stared at Wyatt in surprise. “What? Lorelei isn’t a werewolf?” My jaw dropped.

Wyatt shook his head and seriously replied. “No, she’s a witch!”
