Chapter 107: Chapter 107
My head throbbed, and my teary eyes felt so itchy. I curled tighter on the floor filled with dried leaves and soil before massaging my brows slightly.
I missed the old red flame pack a lot, especially the yellow mountain, which held the hidden cottage that my parents built for our family.
Yellow Mountain is rumored to hold scenery but more dangers, which was the reason it deterred the pack members from visiting.
But what no one expected was that deep in the yellow mountains was a low-key yet luxurious cottage where our family always stayed during vacation.
Except for mom, dad, and me, nobody knew there was a hidden cottage that held memories of the late Alpha, Luna, and our whole family in general.
Despite growing up through the pains, I made sure to protect the cottage, knowing if I didn't, once it was found by Alpha Henry or his family, the cottage would lose the meaning of its existence just like the palace did.
Suddenly, the familiar sandalwood scent drifted into my nose, and familiar big hands gently lay on me.
The hands inched under me before lifting me and bringing me to Wyatt's chest.
Wyatt's right hand softly made its way to my hair and began to massage it, while his left hand began to stroke my face.
I rested my face on Wyatt's warm shoulder and curled into his embrace.
Being in Wyatt's embrace made all the sadness I felt disappear without a trace, and I felt whole again.
Not only that, but it made me feel as if I could fight any battle as long as Wyatt was present. Slowly, the upset mood that I had began to dissipate.
Wyatt raised my chin and lowered his face, his lips inching closer.
I froze at his actions, and I couldn't help but panic.
Quickly, I snapped out of it and puckered my lips before falling weakly into his embrace while trying not to make Wyatt suspect anything.
I lay on Wyatt's chest in feigned gloom and weakly bemoaned to him. “Said she sacrificed her whole life for you, and you're meant to be hers if it weren't for my presence. Said I'm not worthy of you.”
Completing the sentence, I trembled and let tears slip past my eyes before grabbing Wyatt's shirt tightly, appearing fearful and tense about the situation that almost happened.
“She almost stabbed me while I could only watch weakly and pathetically. I'm such a…”
With every word that fell from my lips, Wyatt's aura continued to turn colder and darker. I couldn't deny that his expression would be really dark with anger.
Before I could finalize my words, Wyatt's grip on mine tightened, and he interjected with a cold voice. “Who?” he questioned, his voice dark and freezing.
I sniffed in his embrace and trembled. “Don’t know. She was wearing a mask. Dressed in a white gown and taller than me.” I honestly revealed amidst stutters without raising my head.
I fell silent, and I felt Wyatt open his lips, but before he could say a word, I interrupted. “Oswald appeared, scaring her off,” I explained while sniffling.
I knew that if I didn't explain honestly, Wyatt would become curious about whatever happened to me during that period. After all, I revealed that she almost stabbed me.
If I didn't tell him the truth about Oswald's arrival, it would make him suspect how I was able to escape since she held a knife, which she planned to stab me with.
Moreover, she must be someone among Wyatt's people, which means her combat skills will be higher than average. Definitely higher than a newbie like me.
Upon hearing Oswald's name, Wyatt's body went taut immediately. His index finger raised my chin before cupping my face gently. His thumb slowly wiped the tears from my face.
Wyatt's brows furrowed. “Did Oswald do anything?” He patiently inquired.
After all, we both knew that Oswald's presence in my surroundings meant more targeting at me. So it was hard to believe that Oswald would simply show up and then disappear without causing trouble for my head.
I lowered my head and twisted my finger, unwilling to look into Wyatt's eyes as I spurned out a lie because I was afraid... I was afraid that he'd find out that I was lying to him.
I shook my head, still trembling. “No. His gaze fell on my mate's bond enigmatically. He parted his lips and closed them repeatedly, and then suddenly disappeared without a word.” I explained amidst hiccups while trying to make sure that my voice was as steady as it could be.
Upon hearing my statement, Wyatt's tense body slowly relaxed. We both understood that the secret meaning behind my words was that my mate's bond made Oswald helpless and unable to do anything.
Suddenly, my brows furrowed. Considering that Oswald deeply kissed me, which would be considered cheating, how did Wyatt not feel a thing? After all, whenever a werewolf cheats, the mate will feel heartbreaking pain through the mate bond.
Upon recalling such things, my brows scrunched, and I shrank into Wyatt's embrace fearfully. I don't know how Wyatt didn't feel a thing, but I'm grateful that he didn't. After all, if he did, things would've become troublesome.
Noticing my shrinking act, Wyatt ran his hands through my hair to comfort me, undoubtedly thinking that I was still overcome with fear of the earlier events.
“Asher visited you.” Wyatt articulated in a calm yet steady tone as if he had done an investigation of the reason Asher visited me.
Realizing that he already knew the full content, I simply nodded and didn't bother to lie. “It's fine.” I sniveled and quickly looked down.
“Fine?” Wyatt reiterated and sneered coldly. “If I didn't mention it, you wouldn't tell me, would you?” He expressed in a cold yet assured tone, his voice leaves no space for lying.
I lowered my head in embarrassment before seriously replying, “I don't want to be the reason you're having disagreements with your friends. You've been going through a lot; I don't want to add more…”
“You think I'll hurt my woman's feelings to get together with my friends?” Wyatt interjected with a sharp retort.
Immediately, I shrink in his arms due to fear of his anger and statement.
I couldn't help but catch the meaning of his statement. Wyatt meant he might go to face Asher for the words he said to me.
I lifted my head and quickly clutched Wyatt's muscular arms. “Wyatt, please don't.” I pleaded while shaking my head furiously.
Wyatt and Oswald's relationship is on the edge because of me; I can't let Wyatt add Asher to it.
This is Wyatt's pack and his home; I can't let him fight everyone because of me. What if he becomes a loner?
Wyatt's expression changed, and his lips pursed gloomily. “I won't this time, but once I realize that you suffer grievances and hide them from me for such a nonsensical excuse, I'll...” Wyatt paused, lowered his head, and whispered into my ear.
