Chapter 100: Chapter 100
“Boohoo, Rex, where are you? Help! Rex, help me. I can't break out of it. Rex, I won't run around anymore; help me.”
My eyes narrowed, my fist clenched, and a bead of sweat gathered on my face upon hearing Filippa's cries deep in the forest.
Everyone had been warned not to step into the forest today because the guards found traces of rogues lingering in the red flame pack forest.
However, no one expected that Filippa would sneak out when the alpha, Luna, and the elders were having meetings. Not finding Filippa in the room made a premonition appear in my mind, making me decide to check the forest.
However, I didn't expect that the premonition was right and that Filippa actually ran into the forest.
Since when has Filippa run out? What is her current situation? Hearing Filippa's pitiful cries, I knew Filippa must be in a dangerous situation.
The thought of this made multiple emotions run through me. Unconsciously, my eyes began to turn a darker shade of red, and a berserk energy began to engulf me.
I need Filippa. Nothing must happen to Filippa. My body began to tremble.
“Filippa, where are you?” I stepped into the forest and roared.
Somehow, in that minute, Filippa's scent seemed to appear from all corners of the forest to strongly invade my nose—almost driving me insane.
I began to panic and lose more control of myself. How could I find Filippa when I'm overwhelmed with such a strong smell?
I tasted loss and defeat for the first time, and at that minute, I wished for nothing more than to get stronger. If I can get stronger, I will be able to protect Filippa and never let her feel a sense of panic.
“Help. Help me, Rex. Ahh!” Filippa suddenly screamed. Her voice seemed to pierce deep into my heart and awaken something in it.
Unconsciously, my feet began to flee toward a distance. I didn't know where my feet were leading me, but the scent drifting into my nose made me realize that it was precisely toward Filippa.
Within seconds, I appeared in the deep part of the red flame pack forest.
At the center of the five mahogany trees were three rogues besieging Filippa, whose clothes were now in tatters. Next to Filippa and the rogues were three dead rogues.
My eyes darkened, and a myriad of angry emotions overwhelmed me upon seeing one of the rogues raise his hand to strike at Filippa.
“You filthy rogues. Don't hurt her.” I roared and dashed toward the rogue immediately. Ripping, tearing, punching—none of the rogues were able to last under a few moves in my hand before they fell to the ground, deader than dead.
My eyes flickered with contempt and anger. So weak. How dare they try to lay their hands on Filippa?
“Rex. It's ok. They're dead.” A tiny voice suddenly drifted into my ears, snapping me out of the negativity and killing intent that was already gaining control over my consciousness.
My eyes widened slightly, and my hands flew toward Filippa's shoulder nervously. “Filippa, are you okay?” I inquired in a shaky tone, which was a result of fear. If only I hadn't gone to check on Filippa, I might have lost her to those filthy rogues.
“Hihi. Fine.” Filippa replied cheerfully. She threw her head back and giggled with a thrilled smile. It was obvious that she wasn't scared by the danger she had just gone through; rather, she thought of it as fun.
Filippa's expression suddenly changed, and she held my hand with a childish solemnness that was unfit for her face. I prefer seeing her with her typical arrogant, innocent, and cute expression. “Rex, you must keep this a secret between us. Mom and Dad mustn't know about this, okay?” She proclaimed and stared at me with her big, limpid purple eyes seriously.
Without hesitation, I wrapped my hand around Filippa's shoulder and engulfed her in a tight hug.
My heart is extremely racing, and I fear that it'll race out of control.
“Filippa, I was scared just now. Don't leave me anymore, okay?” I conveyed to Filippa.
I don't think I could bear such a dangerous separation from Filippa.
If such a thing happened again, I knew I'd go berserk. Filippa has slowly made her way to being my life force ever since she saved my life.
Filippa giggled and slowly separated from me. “I won't leave you as long as I don't die.” She expressed brazenly, making me hiss. I realized that Filippa's subtle meaning was that she might also take such dangerous actions next time.
I grabbed Filippa's shoulder firmly and declared seriously. “Then you can’t die.”
Filippa stared at me with a feigned mature expression. She fell silent for a few minutes before she shrugged and articulated, “When we grow up, we'll go our separate ways…”
Growing up? We'll have to go our separate ways? I can't bear to be separated from Filippa. I shook my head condescendingly and firmly declared, “We can't grow up. If we grow up, you'll be my wife. You'll never leave my side.”
“Hahahaha. Funny Rex.” Filippa arched her brows, and she suddenly burst into laughter, as if she had just heard a funny word. “How's that possible?” Filippa blinks her eyes and tilts her head innocently.
That's not possible? How can it be? Then what was the reason for living if I didn't have her by my side? I felt my breath begin to come out in waves, my fingers began to elongate, and my eyesight began to turn red.
If it doesn't work, I have to get stronger until I make it work. Filippa is mine; I can't let her...
Filippa suddenly grabbed my shoulder and tiptoed to stare deep into my eyes. “Rex. Wait. Rex, calm down. You're losing it again.” She cried out in alarm, her voice holding nervousness and anxiety about my turning berserk.
Hearing Filippa's worried voice immediately snapped me out and made me calm down. It was as if my body was conditioned to listen to Filippa's orders.
However, I still have no intention to let Filippa go without getting an affirmation. “Filippa, say yes. Promise me.” I emphasized anxiously, afraid that her denial would send me sinking into a deeper berserk state.
Filippa bit her lower lip, and she slowly nodded her head. “Yes. Yes. I won't leave you, okay? I'll marry you, Rex.”
I won't leave you. I'll marry…
.
.
“Argh.” I punched a tree and roared loudly into the forest, causing all the birds in the vicinity to fly away, my voice resounding in the forest even a few seconds later.
“Argh, Wyatt, you son of a bitch. I hate you so much, I really want to kill you.” Accompanying my words were continuous punches to the poor tree that stood out in the forest, unworried about my hands that were oozing with blood.
But what strength do I have to pay attention to such details? The pain that's currently going through my mind is more than I could bear. I could feel my whole body slowly shutting down. I lost her once, but I didn't expect that I would be losing her again, this time forever!
“How can you? How can you touch her? She had always been mine. Just a little.” Tears streamed down my eyes, and I pressed my palm and index finger, thinking about how little it remains for Filippa and me to be together.
If it weren't for my schedule, Filippa's heat might have been noticed by me. I could have used that to get Filippa as mine, not Wyatt snatching the opportunity.
“We could have been together. It could have been me and her, not you.” We could have been setting up our wedding by now. “I hate you to death, Wyatt Hayes.” I roared.
I leaned back on the tree and fell on my butt before gripping and tugging my hair tightly.
I picked up my phone and tapped on Filippa's and my chat interface. My face contorted into hatred upon seeing Wyatt's text from weeks ago.
‘Maia is in estrus. Whoever arrives in the hostel within ten minutes gets her.’
I recalled dashing out of the important meeting in anxiety. Pushing myself to the brim, I arrived at the hostel in less than nine minutes.
However, the traces of Filippa and Wyatt had long disappeared without trace. Later, I realized that Wyatt texted the message the minute he arrived at Filippa's text, and the minute he sent the text, he picked up Filippa and left. Having no intention to play according to the game.
