Chapter 93: Chapter 93
I was seated next to Greg moving closer to him as I took his hand.
" I had to hide my identity for several reasons... I should tell you about my childhood so that you understand my method."
I nodded as Greg began his story.
Greg was a child pampered by his mother, his father had already prepared him for his future in the pack and he had to stay in a corner of the mansion to follow a certain strict education cutting him off from the outside world. He couldn't play with kids his age and just stared enviously out the window at others. His only friend at that time was Rayan who came from time to time with his mother Elsa to visit his mother who was none other than her younger sister. They played together in secret from his father because even if his mother agreed, his father did not allow him to do unnecessary activities for his education. He was very hard on him, according to the servants, he had been forced to marry Greg's mother because she had been chosen as his Luna. Despite the lack of feelings he had to deal with treating her coldly, many said he had many mistresses but Luna let it go as he was the leader of the pack and the father of her son. They could not reject each other for the good of the other and their son.
So Greg's life was sad and isolated because even within the pack, no one knew what he could look like because only a few servants, his nanny, and two other girls took care of him. He lived like this until an unfortunate event struck him.
His mother was murdered and the investigations speak of a setup. She had been attacked when she found herself alone, all the servants having suddenly disappeared. After his crime, the murderer had set fire to the mansion, and while Greg on the left wing of the house had seen the fire spread he had run to see what was happening. He was only 5 years old but he knew something dangerous was happening. He wondered that even the people who stayed by his side were absent and his door was also open. There were no servants in the hallways and the lights were off as if everyone had been ordered to vacate the mansion. He ran for long minutes before coming across three lifeless bodies, those of his nanny and the two maids following him. They had been bitten hard by an unknown assailant and the violence of the attack was such that blood had spurted all over the floor and the walls covering it. It was a horrible sight as the smell made him nauseous.
His heart started pounding in his chest as he started to look for his mother, she had to be safe but the anxiety was starting to get to him especially as the fire seemed stronger on the side of her apartments. He was starting to get very scared.
He walked shaking as the smoke stung his eyes and made him hard to breathe, almost choking him but he didn't want to turn back, he wanted to know how his mother was doing by all means. He ended up reaching his goal, that is to say, his mother's room despite the violent flames surrounding him. He opened it and shivered in terror as there, in the middle of the chamber, lay his mother's lifeless, bloody body. His head spun as he struggled to stand, his vision blurred and his ears were ringing, what happened? Why was his mother in this state? And his father? Where is he? Does he know they were attacked?
He heard a weird noise on the other side and saw the woman who was always at his mother's side as a servant. She was with two men he had never seen, but the thing that challenged him the most was the tattoo on their forearms. It was the mark of the members of the Shield of Rain.
What is going on? Why would these people come to their house and kill his mother? It's true that lately he's heard in the hallways that his father has started doing business with the Shield of Rain, but why would these people do such a stupid thing as kill the Luna of a pack like the Soul Moon? It was stupid and insane.
The three people finally noticed his presence before the woman smiled.
" Oh but what do I see there? Isn't it the little lamb who came to us on his own? Catch him and kill him."
Greg trembled in fear before turning to flee but was quickly caught by his pursuers.
The man holding him down raised a dagger at him to kill him but was stopped by Elsa and her husband before it was too late. Elsa handed the child over to her husband, ordering him to go and shelter him by all means, even if he has to die for that.
The man nodded, running with Greg in his arms as Elsa stood to face her sister's killers with unspeakable fury. She killed the two men and broke the legs of the woman keeping her alive to interrogate her.
Greg was taken to Elsa's mansion as his father found out, but instead of punishing the people who hurt his wife and son, he did something no one would suspect.
Indeed, it was obvious that this murder had been formed by the Shield of Rain, the woman Elsa had kept alive turned out to be a spy, an omega of the Shield of Rain, and the mother of Jessy. It was obvious that it was a plan against the pack, but Greg's father just decided that to punish these traitors, he would take the Alpha's daughter as his wife. It was far too light and Elsa even suspected that her brother-in-law knew about this plan because she could see that he seemed to have fallen in love with this young girl. She couldn't risk her nephew's life so she lied to the Alpha that her son had been badly burned in the attack and he had to go overseas as disfigured.
This is how he found himself wearing a mask to hide his unsightly "scars" and to be able to carry out his activities in Capital City in peace without being tied to the pack. Another way to conduct incognito investigations.
When he came back when he was 18 years old, he decided to resume his position as Alpha in the pack, especially since his father no longer deserved it in his eyes. How dare he let his mother's death slip away like this when because the Shield of Rain Alpha's daughter rejected him, he issued a banishment order on the pack. What was his reasoning? He took over the command of the pack, exiling his father to a secluded house far from the city while the elders welcomed him with open arms because of his legendary power. It was time to choose a Luna, the elders offered so many girls but his heart told him that his Luna wasn't there.
His instinct led him to the edge of a beach where he met a girl who appeared to be a human. Everything told him that she was his soulmate but she was still too young, so he left her, however, keeping an eye on her until she came to him.
