Chapter 40: Chapter 40

Greg leaped from the pavement to the third floor of the building as Duke Vangard disappeared with monstrous speed.

" Ah, these men, no gentleman etiquette, leaving a poor defenseless woman like this in the street."

Aisha chuckled before hovering over Greg's assistant. The latter remained in the street near his master's car while the three Clan leaders entered the abandoned building almost at the same time.

"What a disgusting place."

Aisha put her hand over her mouth as Duke Vangard looked uncomfortable.

" I liked dark places but even for me, this place makes me uncomfortable and this putrid smell. It looked like a real butchery had been carried out there."

Greg didn't comment, he too smelled that strong smell of death and it filled his mind with perplexed thoughts.

With that heavy smell, it was easy for the scouts to suspect unspeakable activity but they stood by and it wasn't until the reports of disappearances escalated that it finally reached his ears.

Someone is having fun playing him and what about the fact that Aisha tried to contact him and unfortunately she never succeeded?

He will have to carry out some investigations within his pack to find the authors of what is happening here.

There is no doubt that this story is more complex than it is and that above all several of the members of his pack are involved.

" Well and if we go there."

He spoke coldly as Duke Vangard scowled.

" Hey since when are you the boss? I'll let you know that I'm the oldest here and…"

The Duke fell silent at the dark, menacing aura around Greg. The latter gave him a look of nameless coldness behind his mask, his golden eyes of ice.

Vangard gulped before pouting.

" Since you are my guests, please allow me the courtesy to lead you."

In other words, I'm in charge.

The other two Clan leaders did not balk and followed the lycanthrope leader despite being the youngest.

Gently, they followed the pestilential smell that came from the top floor of this building and despite the state of the place, they moved forward without making any noise.

" Since we don't know how many there are, I propose to surprise them. I will surround us with a magical barrier that will conceal both our scents and our presence regardless of the nature of these renegades. This will also allow us to thwart if there are any traps."

Aisha proposed looking at the two men and they just nodded. For Greg it was all good, he didn't want to manage this major crisis of having to risk that the culprit or culprits could flee.

Aisha, therefore, deployed her barrier, and Greg, still in front, led the other two to the top floor.

He stopped abruptly surprising the witch and the vampire and he spoke.

" Behind this door, I count several people, five in all."

" It must be them... What are we waiting for? Let's go."

Duke Vangard wanted to rush into the heap but Greg stopped him, placing his hand in front. He gave the Duke a cold look as he spoke.

" It is not up to the guests to deal with the problems in the host's house."

It was clear, Greg had decided to take care of these people himself whoever they were, and would not allow anyone to interfere.

He opened the door before stepping in elegantly. Without noise or brutality, he advanced into the dark room followed by the other two before noting that on the ground, well tied up, there were four people.

All teenagers.

Aisha recognized the three witches who had been missing for a while and Duke Vangard jumped on the last one.

"Brother.."

The tied boy spoke as the Duke untied him. So it was his younger brother, thought Greg. He can imagine the restraint that this man must have shown when his brother was kidnapped. But even if he was taken by his feelings, the rules are the rules and he had to follow his commands because being on his territory.

" My sisters, what happened?"

Aisha asked the question while untying the three girls as they fell into her arms.

" It was awful, they kidnapped us while we were going to the black market to buy ingredients, and we ended up here with other people. There were many other people, mostly lycanthropes, we were the only witches, and the other one there was the only bat."

Greg stiffened at the young witch's tale and turned to her for information.

" Lycanthropes? They were also detained? Where are they ?"

The girls looked down in sadness when finally it was the Duke's brother who was speaking.

" Those who kidnapped us killed them. I know this because every time one of our captors came to take one, a strong smell of blood would come out of that room, not to mention the screams of pain... The captor would come back with blood all over him saying that it was a failure."

Greg felt his fists clench until they bled as he realized that these young people were being used for experiments whose atrocities he didn't even want to imagine.

" Lycanthrope Clan Leader, you mentioned five people but I only see four."

Aisha called back but at the same time, a man came out of the shadows smiling like a madman.

" These kids weren't total failures in the end. Haha, what a joy, I will be able to test this incredible power on three Clan leaders."

The man stood on guard to challenge the three people in front of him as Duke Vangard cried impertinence.

"He dares to defy us, the insane, who did he take himself for?"

Greg raised his hand to stop again as the room began to shake. Slowly he looked up at the kidnapper and in a nutshell, the latter froze, unable to make the slightest move. It was due to a mixture of fear coupled with the unique ability of Greg, the Alpha of Soul Moon, and the most powerful lycanthrope of the last centuries.

"Dominium."
