Chapter 156: Chapter 156
Morning came quickly as I was getting ready to pick up Greg. We don't know how many enemies are waiting for us there, but all the Soul Moons and some hunters have decided to leave. Even Serena decided to join us saying that there was only her to take care of her grandfather.
I sighed praying Greg was safe. I don't want to lose any more people, this year has been so difficult for me.
Greg is everything to me and losing him would drive me so crazy.
So we went to the Shield of Rain landmark knowing that André was not going to stand in our way. He wants to eat me anyway.
I trust the new Alliance, made up not only of creatures but also of alves and hunters. We are going to stop this accursed threat.
" But I wonder, why are there so many mutants? Don't tell me that it was only the humans that these people kidnapped that were so numerous."
Chad popped the question as Elsa nodded.
"You're right boy, that doesn't seem right. With the number of mutants we fought yesterday, it's obvious that the human missing cases weren't as huge."
Tom seemed to think and he finally spoke.
" Even if Jessy would have allowed himself some liberties in traffic, I don't think he would have kidnapped so many people."
I looked at Tom a little sad. Even though Jessy did deserve it, Tom thought of him as a son and I'm sure his death pains him even if he doesn't say it.
"And if they had to operate throughout the country? And also outside?"
Pamela spoke and Rayan retorted.
" It makes sense, but it would also be too trying and consequential even for them... I don't know, but I have the impression that we're missing out on something."
" Do not rack your brains in vain. These people started their plan years ago, it is obvious that they have matured their plan for a long time."
Serena spoke arrogantly and Rayan frowned.
" You talk as if you know something about it…"
Serena blushed in embarrassment as Chad just placed them next to her.
" Miss, you should stop behaving as if you are an immaculate dove."
Serena glared at Chad who just smiled.
We finally got to my grandfather's hideout and I gulped. I hope things will go as planned. I was about to open the hatch when suddenly we heard quick footsteps coming towards us and soon we were surrounded.
" It was too good to be true, there was of course a welcoming committee waiting for us."
Rayan warned and changed into a wolf followed by the other lycans as Elsa looked at me.
" Sophia, let's go, Rayan and the others take care of them."
I nodded as Pam and Rayan got side by side.
"Are you ready baby?"
" Oh yes…"
I smiled at their dynamic as soon as we were inside. It looked like we were alone but soon a man appeared.
"Ah, second eldest, of all men I did not think you would fall so low."
" I only think of the interests of our race. Trent Grantz is far too young to understand some issues. He would have been a better Alpha than his father certainly but his immaturity and his youth will one day cause us harm."
" Nonsense... You are just blinded by your desires."
Elsa then warned him and Tom beside her just smiled.
" It's been so long since we fought together, isn't it?
" It goes back so far."
Only three left, Chad, Serena and I walked to the next room.
Serena scowled as her grandfather stood there with other people. I looked at this poor woman who looked like she wanted to cry and I looked at Chad.
" Please Chad, stay here with her and help her."
" But Sophia, I came here for you and…"
" Please…"
He sighed before coming to kiss my forehead.
" Take care of yourself. I'll end here and I'll join you."
I nodded and finally, I was in the watch room. This room was where my love sacrificed himself to allow us to escape.
" But who do we have here? Isn't that my sweet granddaughter?"
I frowned at the sound of my grandfather's execrable voice before I returned to him. I felt my heart go cold when I saw his appearance. It was horrible. He had attributes of every mythical creature I know of and the rendering was just excruciating to watch.
" What, do you like my new appearance?"
" You are monstrous."
" THANKS."
I shook my head before looking around.
" Ah, are you looking for your little darling? Well, here he is."
A mechanism clicked and I saw Greg, his bloodied body restrained by wrist chains.
" Greg…"
I screamed as Andre walked in front of me.
" I was planning to present him to the humans today. You know, he's the richest and most influential man in the world. If I tell them he's a lycan, I'll prove to them that our race is indeed superior to theirs and they will have to make up their minds and submit."
I gritted my teeth, I know how much Greg cares about his human image, it's the little respite he's been allowed in this life and I won't let this madman do as he pleases.
Suddenly, the scaffold on which Greg was chained moved again and Greg's body fell violently on the ground.
" Honey…"
I ran towards him coming to carry his body as he coughed lightly.
" So...Sophia?"
I smiled, stroking his hair.
" Yes my love, I came to get you."
Greg was silent for a moment before straightening up.
" You should not have. I would have found a way out of this mess."
" But…"
" But thank you for worrying about me."
I smiled before kissing his forehead.
" you're stupid... I would have done anything for you, to save you."
We were in our love bubble when André spoke.
" Well, if the reunion is over, Sophia, with your alfe magic, I want you to heal your alpha."
I frowned at this command not understanding this man's point. It's obvious that he's the one who hurt Greg but why does he want me to heal him now? It is obvious that if I put Greg back on his feet, he will be in a weak position.
" Don't do that... Ah, it's a trap. This man, he's not normal... there is…"
Greg doubled over, seeming to writhe in pain, and I panicked.
"Greg…"
I cried and André chuckled.
" I took care to put a poisoned worm in his body, the more you hesitate, the more the poison spreads in his body. I can't tell you exactly how long until that worm reaches his heart."
I gritted my teeth, closing my eyes. I asked Cicy to allow me to use my alfe power to its full potential and my lycan consciousness faded.
Greg grabbed my hand, I could see he was trying to stop me but I couldn't see him suffering like this and doing nothing.
I smiled, caressing his face as I closed my eyes to focus on my power. Never mind that it was a trap, I would have cured Greg anyway.
I channeled my energy into Greg's body using all my resources to extract the poison from his body and heal the huge wound in his abdomen.
It took a few minutes and finally, exhausted and with a weak body, I fell on Greg who received me.
" You are so stubborn, Sophia... This monster wanted our energies to be in communion to be able to absorb us both…"
Greg sighed before looking up fiercely at Andre who was smiling at him in delight
" Finally, I will be able to realize my dream of more than thirty years."
André advanced towards them as Greg cursed himself for not being able to move due to his numb body. This man had thought of everything.
Andre walked ahead of us and Greg held me tight to his chest.
I closed my eyes, is this how I'm gonna die? From the hands of my grandfather and in the arms of my beloved. It looks like another tragedy from a cliched, second-rate film.
I held Greg's shirt and gritted my teeth. No, I do not want to. I want to be able to live, enjoy my life with Greg, have children, and finally be happy.
I was praying for this future when I heard weird moans. Turning to the origin of these noises, I saw André's body deforming when it looked like another body was living there.
" That's what I saw yesterday…André has changed his body so much that he created another consciousness in him…"
Greg spoke calmly as I frowned.
Suddenly, a body emerged from that of my grandfather and the latter fell to pieces on the ground. It was horrible to see.
I quickly turned my face away as Greg stroked my head trying to calm me down.
" Ah, finally free."
I turned to this new voice to find who? Jessy? But how? I thought he was dead.
" Hi, sweetie."
No, but what is this mess
