Chapter 138: Chapter 138

Spencer is a seasoned hunter, he has the admiration of his peers and the recognition of his elders. He is considered by far the best hunter in their brotherhood and this has given him some influence both in making certain decisions and in training apprentices.

Because he is the strongest, everyone tries to look like him, which makes him a reference among hunters.

Spencer has always righteously done his job, obeying orders from the elders and making sure the balance between humans and creatures isn't upset. Ordinary humans should by no means know of the existence of the creatures and he was there to make sure. As soon as there were suspicions in this perspective, he made sure to always stop the threat to the pact between the two camps. Likewise, if a hunter made a mistake by unjustly attacking an innocent creature, he was responsible for punishing him according to their laws.

But this day, this famous evening three years ago, he too fell under the ban.

It was during a hunt, a ghoul had attacked a human outside a club and had eaten her, a fact that was not common in the city of Capital City. Still, it could exist in the outskirts but with a ghoul who defies the ban in the middle of Alliance territory, there was surely a problem.

And as he suspected, it was.

The ghoul in question was nothing normal, it looked like a deviant, today he knows perfectly well that it was still one of the experiences of these people.

He had tracked this bloodthirsty beast to the depths of the forest on the edge of town and found it dead torn to pieces. It immediately caught his attention before he felt a presence behind him.

When he turned around, he came across a brown wolf who looked tired. Was he the one who killed the ghoul?

" Who are you?"

The wolf moaned before collapsing on the ground and taking human form. She was a young woman with brown hair, she had wounds all over her body and seemed at the end of her life.

It was a lycanthrope and he didn't know what to do at that time, they weren't enemies but neither were they allies. Their two species rub shoulders in controlled animosity, each watching for the slightest deviation from the other to start hostilities.

While Spencer, the best hunter of the brotherhood finds himself feeling sorry for the fate of a lycanthrope, he would think he had gone mad. But when he sees this woman lying on the ground, panting in pain like this, lycanthrope or not, it doesn't leave him indifferent. He huffed before cursing himself for his next move.

Gently, he took off his shirt, wrapping the naked body of the woman before carrying her, deciding to take her to his house to treat her.

Glad he doesn't live in the hunters' camp like most of them. He preferred a quiet little house on the outskirts of town and he liked it quite well.

Slowly, he walked through the city making sure not to draw attention to himself before finally arriving home. He opened the door heading to his room and laid the young woman in his bed. She seemed to be in excruciating pain from her injuries and he could see a ghoul bite. If nothing was done quickly, it would gangrene the part extending over the whole body which would cause her death.

He sighed before taking his first aid kit, taking all the potions of hunters he had to ward off this kind of situation.

" Ah, if the others knew that I am using the precious sacred objects of our goddess for a lycanthrope, I am sure that I will be banished."

Spencer sighed before getting to work. First, he had to remove the poison of the ghoul in her, then he took care of her many wounds, the task was not going to be easy. Three hours later, he was finished and was exhausted, his body crying out for sleep.

He got up from his bedside and decided to lie down on the sofa but at the same time, he heard his patient's voice.

" Why did you save a lycanthrope? hunter. "

Spencer turned to find the young woman awake staring at the ceiling.

He sighed, realizing that she must have been awake a long time ago.

" Is there a reason to save a life?"

The woman didn't speak before she just closed her eyes.

" Well ... I want to rest so you can leave."

"Dirty little... Not even a thank you? And how she talks to me like I'm her minion."

Spencer walked out of the room slamming the door as the woman opened her eyes looking where he exited.

" A rather strange human. Besides, he's a hunter. I wonder why he saved me…"

She closed her eyes before falling asleep. The next morning, she smelled a good smell of omelet by her side as she sat up to find Spencer a meal tray by her side.

" You have to eat to regain your strength."

She frowned, he's doing too much.

" Why do you act like this with a creature? Hunter. Are you expecting something from me? Do you want me to trust you so you can extract information from me?"

Spencer sighed, these creatures are so suspicious, he understands her a little but at this level, can't she believe that he is doing it out of humanism? Ah! He forgets it's a creature.

" First my name is Spencer, not Hunter, and second, I'm not monstrous enough to leave a dying person behind me. A good deed is not always borrowed from any interest."

The woman looked at him suspiciously before taking the meal tray and starting to eat.

" So who are you?"

" A lycanthrope."

Spencer huffed, it's not going to be easy.

" Your name. I had already understood your nature."

The woman remained calm for a moment before blowing.

" Angie. My name is Angie and I am a wandering wolf."
