Chapter 130: Chapter 130
I look around to see these horrible people ogling me with hope and undisguised expectation. Frankly, I feel like throwing up, their cause is absurd, they are just as absurd, but this is not the time for criticism but rather for the fact that I must find Chad before things get worse. I'm sure that the hunters will soon start looking for one of their own and there it will still be the creatures that will be blamed... And indirectly my Greg.
I need to find him before this goes downhill.
" Well, if that's all... I have no choice but to follow the voice of honor. My blood obliges me to adhere to the cause of the pack, I absolutely must avenge my parents even if it breaks my heart."
I saw smiles forming on the faces of the people present, only Jessy seems to be looking at me from a distance but I don't care, I'm not there for his approval. I just need to get my grandfather to trust me so I can help Greg get rid of this threat. Maybe it will relieve him and make him forget what blood runs in my veins even if it's only half the truth.
My grandfather smiled before nodding his head.
"Well Jessy, release this hunter."
" But master .. and if she retracts…"
" I know you don't trust me Jessy but I have a question... If you consider that I can betray you, it means that you also consider the fact that I could hide Chad and Stacy from you which is not absolutely up my alley. You'll always have a way to use me and blackmail me with their lives, so there's no point in keeping Chad captive. Also, I'm not sure you would want hunters in your paws."
Jessy seemed to think about it as I heard Greg congratulating me on the shot. At the same time, he told me that Chad is by his side so I can play it cool and stop stressing.
Jessy hissed in annoyance under my grandfather's dark gaze before moving outside.
" What do we do? He's not going to find me."
" I know. But knowing this coward, he won't dare tell his boss that he was lax, letting you slip away on your own."
" Which means?"
Greg rolled his eyes before looking at Chad.
" He will rather come and say that you are free and to prove it he can ask Sophia to check by all possible means."
" So what should I do?"
" Nothing... Let's just see what this man will do next."
Chad frowned, not understanding the thoughts of the man beside him. If Sophia doesn't have proof that he's safe, how will their deal work out? It's ambiguous.
For his part, Jessy arrived in front of his car before blowing.
" It's not normal that this stupid girl acts like this. She's not very smart but she's also not the type to give up easily like she did, especially since our methods don't seem to please her. There are eels under the rock, she is up to something but what?"
He advanced to the rear trunk before lifting the hood, finding the trunk empty. His heart raced in his chest as he looked around for a clue to find Chad. His face was pale and his expression desperate as he hissed.
" What the hell is this shit? Where did he go? No, I can't just go tell the master that the prisoner has escaped. I'm sure he'll kill me. Calm down Jessy there must be an explanation, could it be that the hunters came to pick it up? Not impossible otherwise they would have landed inside. Could this be Sophia's work? No, she could not implement this knowing that she would have to receive help from someone for this, and apart from Tom she only knows members of Soul Moon. Coward as I know her, wouldn't risk her quiet little life being threatened if they found out the truth about her and her connection to the Shield of Rain. Tom, no he's been missing for a few days leaving no trace. So it can't be that jug."
The only explanation is that Chad managed to escape on his own and with the influence of the pheromones, he didn't bother to stick around going to warn the others. Which means their hideout is in danger. He has to go and tell the others, but that would be an admission that he let the prisoner slip away.
Damn, what should he do?
He thought for a moment before nodding his head at an idea.
He went back inside, deciding to play the game so he would know what could have happened, if it was a blow from the hunters, from Sophia, or that Chad just managed to get rid of his pheromones. If it's the latter option, then it's a much more interesting specimen than he might have thought, and getting his DNA back will become a must no matter what Sophia thinks of it.
He walked back to meet the others as his master spoke.
"SO?"
"I released him before going to throw him near the highway."
Chad nearly choked while Greg was sure. He preferred to avoid retaliation for his incompetence, preferring to play it cool.
" How can you be sure?"
I asked as Jessy frowned. It's not that idiot, the mastermind behind Chad's escape.
* You just have to go see unless the passers-by have already picked him up to bring him back to a hospital. He was still unconscious from the pheromones but in a few hours, he'll be fine."
I bit my lip before I heard my grandfather speak.
" Do not worry Sophia. I only have one word. Your friend is fine, I can assure you."
I rolled my eyes. My ass yeah, it's thanks to my darling if I can be reassured of Chad's state.
I huffed as I decided to stand up.
" I will find out sooner or later. On this, I must go before drawing too much attention to myself."
My grandfather nodded as I stepped out of that lair of snakes and into the hallways aware that a more difficult test awaited me. Having to deal with Greg after he learned the truth about me.
