Chapter 120: Chapter 120
Greg had documents in front of him and a red pen which he marked on the reports presented to him. Each time he turned a page, he marked it with a red pen, certainly crossing sleepless nights of work for some.
He had an expressionless face while on the other side, all the department heads had crestfallen faces as Greg dismissed their hard work.
I can understand them. It also hurt me in high school when after giving myself up for an interrogation depriving me of my sleep, my streamings, and my outings to work, I received a copy crossed out in red with a big F well visible. It hurts a lot and it discourages me in the future. Even here, they certainly don't have the right to be discouraged because that would mean the door.
The room was silent, only the sounds of the paper rustling and the pen passing over it were heard, the atmosphere so heavy and I could see from their desperate heads that the men and women around this table had even held their breath. Poor people, having Greg as your boss is not easy, I imagine.
Greg finally stopped before throwing the papers further on the table, he straightened his face and I saw him smile. It was a particularly ambiguous smile because it contrasted badly with his cold gaze. It made me shiver more than once while on my side I preferred to play my role as assistant. At this point, I don't know if I too could be mixed up in Greg's bad temper. He's my man and I can see deep in his eyes that he's very angry even though he didn't explode in rage.
And judging by the frightened reactions of the directors, they too know that Greg is angry.
" You all have talent."
Everyone retracted, me first, Greg is complimenting them? But it doesn't seem like it is. And the fact that he put such a long pause on his sentence making the audience yearn for the rest is a real torture for the nerves, especially for those who wait for his approval after their work.
They have talent but he just blocked their work, please Greg cut to the chase.
Greg stood up walking around the table crossing each seated director. Every time he came close to one of them, the latter jumped up holding his breath before lowering his head in fear.
Shit Greg Travis, even mixed up with humans, you still have such an effect on people.
" It's a rare ability not to improve. I have to admit that to you, don't you think?"
I shook my head, Greg has some scathing words.
Greg walked up behind one of the managers before placing his hand on his chair causing him to tense up.
" Director Park."
" Yes, president."
The man answered as if he were in front of his military commander and I almost felt sorry for the poor man. He looked old though, he could be Greg's dad but hey, in business, there are no age matters, and Greg as he says all the time, didn't build this empire by being sentimental.
" What do I tell you all the time?"
" Hey... Hm well... I have to re-read my proposals by putting myself in the consumer's shoes."
" Very well and did you do it?"
The man swallowed hard before lowering his head.
" Uh... I ...try to do it and…"
" Did you try hard? Is this a daunting task, Mr. Park? If so, let me know and I'll find someone who can do it better. I imagine you are already weakening."
The man jumped before stammering.
" No sir... I can do it, it's just that I thought that…"
" You're not here to believe that's what market research is all about. Assess consumer needs and develop a product that will be useful to them. If only your opinion counted, we would have made a product just for you. Mr. Park, can you cover the consumption of several people on your own?"
" No, I am sorry…"
" I do not ask for your excuses but for professional work. And stop thinking, your thinking is very poor."
Ouch that hurts, I looked at Greg like a little bully as the poor man looked like he wanted to cry.
" I imagine that it is also the case for all the others, is it not? You've gone out of your way to produce such lousy proposals for me, haven't you? The reason why I received this kind of result. It's sad, I won't tolerate it anymore... Miss Carpenter…"
I was immersed in the lament of these poor directors when I heard Greg calling me, getting up quickly.
" Yes, president."
Greg looked at me smiling warmly as he made me blush.
" I hope you have noted the essentials."
Uh, what could I have noted? Him harassing his poor employees? Um, I don't think that should be noted.
" Hmm, president ... Well …"
" Take the tea towels laid out on this table and note all the remarks that I have noted there. You will give them to those concerned, hoping that it would raise the quality of their work a little."
I smirked before nodding and picking up the stack of documents. I felt a lot of work today, but as I leafed through the documents, I noticed that contrary to what I thought of Greg simply crossing out the files. There were ideas and suggestions put in there that, exploited, would be useful for directors in their proposals.
I looked at him in amazement as I couldn't believe my eyes, he had managed to do this so easily, and in such a short time, I now understand why he is such an incredible tycoon.
" Hm president, I would."
Greg nodded before turning towards the exit ending the meeting. I followed him and we walked out of the meeting room. I watched the people inside and they seemed to have been drained, sighing at the end of this crazy express meeting.
"You are a tyrant."
" Ah, it's hurtful that my honey thinks so of me."
I smiled as we walked into our office.
" You are certainly a tyrant but you are my darling tyrant."
Greg smiled before coming to kiss me.
" I like this."
We heard a knock on the door and the receptionist came in after getting permission from Greg.
" Sorry president it's just that Miss Carpenter, there is a man at the reception who wants to meet you."
" A call would have sufficed."
Greg spoke coldly, not liking the message, Man? Who is it? Jessy? Does he dare come all the way here?
I looked at Greg before sighing.
" It's that, I called your office but you weren't there apparently because no one answered."
It was obvious since we came back from the meeting with the directors, but I'm sure Greg is jealous. A man, it can be Jessy and I know how much he hates the guy for several reasons.
" Hm, I understand... So who is it?"
I looked at Greg silently asking him to calm down, he pouted childishly and I cracked up how cute he is. I recovered when I heard the voice of the woman in front of us.
" This is Chad Vincent. He says he is a friend of yours."
I looked at Greg and he did too. The secretary came out as I walked around.
" He must be back for yesterday's situation."
Greg nodded, coming to take my hand.
"It is useless to grind your brains for that, go meet him."
" Are you sure? I mean you don't mind?"
" No."
I smiled, giving him a peck.
" I love you."
" The same."
I walked out of the office as Greg sighed.
" Ah, these hunters piss me off."
