Chapter 29: Chapter 29
Me and my husband is waiting patiently for my son and grandchild here at the airport. I miss my grandson so much. It's been a while I have not visited him. I was not able to meet his new babysitter. Well I heard a lot of positive comments about her from the helpers. My plan was to meet her while Roberta is still working. But was not able to do so because of too much errands that I need to attend to in the company.
So the plan B was to meet Roberta in the Philippines to ask her about the girl but then again because I was so busy, I was not able to see her and even to see her new born grandchild. It was my plan to go to the hospital where her daughter give birth before my flight to Spain but when I get there they are already got discharged. So I went to her daughter's house but their neighbor said they went to Roberta's house in the province which will take 2 days to travel and that is not possible for me since the next day will be our flight to Spain.
"What took them so long honey?" I impatiently asked my husband.
"Hon, we just arrived." my husband reply. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Oh, they are here!" I squeaked and my husband covered his ears.
"Honey calm down." he scolded me. But I just ignore him.
"My baby." I said and hugged my grandson.
"Gran-gran." he said.
He hugged me so I carried him. I look around and noticed that it is just the two of them.
"Where is the nanny?" I asked.
"She went to the comfort room Mom." my son replied.
"She seem nervous to see the old witch." my husband replied.
"How dare you! You dirty old man." I said as I pinch his face and twist his ears.
"Ouch! Honey stop it, you're hurting my ears. Son help!" he said trying to take off my hands.
"You deserve that for bugging me." I said continuing to pinch him. Our grandson is now laughing.
"Mom, dad stop it." said Federico seemed irritated with me and his father. But I did not listen.
"Good morning Madam, good morning Mr. Altagracia." A sweet voice stopped me from hurting my husband.
I looked at the lady who is greeting me. I prepare my smile but when I saw her I almost fainted. The woman that I never thought that I would see. How can I not forget her? She is the mother of my grandchild. She looks so innocent and pure. Suddenly, a severe feeling of guilt attacked me. I almost breakdown, if my husband was not quick enough to catch me I probably end up on the ground.
"Are you okay, Mom?" my worried son asked.
"Yes, son. I'm fine." I replied but the truth is I am about to faint.
"I guess you are not honey. What happened? You are so pale." my worried husband said.
"I'm okay. Let's just go home so I can rest." I said to finish the discussion.
"Yeah, good idea." my husband agreed.
I glanced at the lady and saw her worried face while carrying my grandson. When I saw the two of them I wanted to cry and kneel in front of her to ask for forgiveness. Guilt is consuming every inch of my system and my conscience is attacking me as if it wants to eat me whole. I wish the ground as well will just eat me so I will just disappear. I don't know how to react and it seems like the lady was hurt because I did not even reply to her greetings. How can I even answer when I can't even look at her? How did she end up working for my son and babysitting her own child? Does' she have any idea? There are plenty of questions that are flooding in my mind right now that no one can answer. This is the biggest secret that I am hiding from my family. No one knows it even my best friend Roberta. Now, I don't know what to do. I should have not agreed on Mrs. Palma's idea. I know it was wrong. It is a big mistake but then again, because of pity I said yes. She was right when she said that the child will get in the way of achieving her daughter's dream but it was wrong to take her son away from her.
"Honey, it just shows that you are not getting any younger because you can't take long travels." my husband said which I just ignored. I am not really in the mood right now.
"Dad, stop teasing Mom. You see she's not feeling well." my son said.
"But she is not sick." my husband said while touching my forehead and neck.
"I did not say that I have a fever." I said while putting his hand away.
"You just really need rest, I guess." said my husband.
My son is driving while Emily is next to him and little Rick is sitting on her lap while I and my husband is at the back. The three of them look good together, if ever they fall in love I would be glad to have Emily as my daughter in law compared to that Lindsay who is a gold digger. She has been bothering my son and even me. She always goes to my company to ask around what was happening to my son.
We just got home and we are now in the kitchen eating. My grandson already fell asleep and Emily is with her so now I was able to breathe but still I am not comfortable. I really need to see Mrs. Palma once I get back in the country and I can't wait any longer I feel like I really need to see her tomorrow.
"Son, I wanted to ask for your permission and that's the other reason why we are here." my husband said.
"Okay, dad. What is it?" my son asked.
"You know Rick's birthday will be six months from now. Your mom and I just wonder if we could have his second birthday celebration in the Philippines." my husband asked.
"Okay, dad. That is a brilliant idea." my son said.
"Really son?" I asked.
"Yes Mom. I think it's time that Rick will see our homeland." my son answered.
I was surprised with my son's answer. However, I am happy. It seems that he already moved on unlike before that he cursed the country because of his heartbreaking experience due to that evil woman who disguised as an angel to deceive him. I guess it was Emily who made him easier to move on. I can see the look on my son's eyes the way he looks at Emily. I can tell he has a thing for her. Hopefully the two of them will end up together maybe if that happens I will be at peace.
