Chapter 17: Chapter 17
After she signed the contract I called Oscar to help her get her stuff so she could move in while Aunt Roberta is still here to guide her. My son sometimes has attitude and as a normal child he also does have tantrums so I really do hope she could handle it. Which I expect she can. With her looks, if we based on looks she looks like an angel who can tamed even a beast how much more a toddler with tantrums. But looks can be deceiving I know so I should limit my expectations.
"Oscar, you already know where Miss Palma here lives, right? I asked my trusted family driver.
"Yes, boss." he nodded.
"Okay, so you go with her and get all her things in the apartment. I want her to move in the mansion as soon as possible. It's good that she should be trained while Aunt Roberta is still here to guide her." I explained.
Oscar just nod.
"Let's go Miss Palma." he said while smiling sweetly at the lady.
"Okay." Emily smiled back at Oscar.
Once again I feel this familiar feeling of being annoyed when she looks or smile at other men. Just like the way I feel when she speak or look at David. A lot of thoughts cross my mind all of a sudden. All of it were bad thoughts, like Emily and Oscar kissing. They will reach her apartment and they will end up in bed.
I must admit Oscar is a good looking guy. He is silent unlike David who is playful. Oscar is a nice guy and certified gentleman but he knows how to seduce women in his own way. A lot of my maids are attracted to him and I know Emily is not an exception. I don't know what's happening to me but the next thing I did was really crazy.
"Oh, Oscar I forgot. It's a really good thing I remember. I need you to go to the port, my shipping just arrived those were stocks for the restaurants. I will just take care of Miss Palma." I just find myself instructing Oscar but the truth is there is no shipment.
Now two pairs of eyes are looking unbelievably at me. I can't blame them. They are really surprised since I'm the boss and I will do something that is a driver's responsibility.
"O-okay, boss." said Oscar seemed confuse. Emily was as well confuse but did not say a thing.
"Miss Palma, you need to guide me the way on your apartment, we will take Aunt Roberta and my son. It's been a while he haven't went outside it's a good thing to have a bonding. Well, more like a farewell party for Aunt Roberta, you know." I said, it's really a good thing that I am an intelligent man. I was able to cover up for my craziness.
I have no idea that she did notice, but I was really guilty that I do it because of jealousy, I am thinking of something bad towards her and Oscar. I know I really sound or look stupid right now. However, she just smiled sweetly, still not looking at me.
"I agree, Sir. I'm sure Rick will be very happy." she said while nodding. I nod and smiled at her.
"Let's go then." I said, she nodded and followed me.
Together we went outside my office. I instructed one of my helpers to call Aunt Roberta who is currently at my son's room. We waited for her in the living room.
After a while, she came with Rick next to her. He looks so cute in his formal tiny business suit. I can see Emily's genuine smile looking at my son. She seemed amused with how my son looks. But the next thing happened really got me swept away. My son runs towards his new babysitter.
"Mama! Mama! Mama!" that's what he keeps on saying while running towards her who is sitting on the sofa.
She seemed teary eyed while smiling which made my heart swell. This is the first time that my son acts towards a stranger. I really have no idea what's with Emily that makes my son likes her so much to the point that he even called her Mama.
"Careful little Rick, you might stumble." Aunt Roberta reminded.
Emily suddenly got up and held my son in her arms. I felt something warm touched my heart with the scene I am seeing at the very moment. They look good together. My son and Emily they really look like mother and child. He look so happy being carried by his new nanny. I never seen him this happy.
"Don't run baby, you should be careful." she lovingly said while caressing his hair. My son just nod as a reply.
"So what are we up to?" Aunt Roberta asked breaking the silence.
"We will go to Emily's place to get her things in her apartment so she could transfer here. Then we will go out. I thought it is a perfect time to bond with Rick and you, also, to get to know Emily. Like still part of the orientation and training with you, Auntie." I explained.
"So you don't have meetings today, you don't have errands in the restaurant, and where is Oscar? Isn't it his job to take care of transferring Emily's stuff?" Aunt Roberta just bombed me a lot of questions and it hit me.
I know she is thinking of something. I feel like she can read my mind, well it is not new since she was the one who raised me. We even have more time together than my own mother. I must say she knew me more than my mother.
"Auntie, one question at a time, please." I said while raising my both hand as if I am surrendering to a cop.
"Why you seem so nervous?" she said.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
"Never mind, so let's go." she excitedly said.
"Well, for your question. I cancel all my meetings, I thought my son is more important than anything else." I explained.
"Fine, fine. Let's go, the earlier the better so we could do more." she said while secretly winked at me.
My forehead furrow and Aunt Roberta laughed. Emily was changing glances at me and Aunt Roberta. Based on the look on her face I can see that she finds us really weird. She really had this very confused look.
"Where we go?" my son asked all of a sudden.
"We will go to my house baby. " Emily answered.
"You not live here?" he sadly asked.
"I will live here starting today. We will go to my house to get my clothes there. You like that?" she asked.
"Yes, Rick love it." He said while waving his two hands as if he was dancing. We all laugh at his cute gesture.
Emily's apartment was very small. I don't know if it is justifiable to call it apartment since it is just a little room. She was a bit shy to show us the place where she stays. She even insist to let us wait downstairs but I declined because it will be hard for her to carry all her belongings for sure it will be very difficult.
"Your noddle hands will never make it." I firmly said. We are presently at the lobby. The people passing by could not help but stare since my voice is a bit loud. She is very stubborn, so it got me frustrated and pissed at the same time. We are like a married couple with a child since we are arguing while I am carrying my son. The thought just tickles me. While Aunt Roberta does not even seem to care.
After a few hours of negotiating, she finally agreed. Rick wants to come with us and see her nanny's apartment while Aunt Roberta was left downstairs. She said her knee hurts and she can't talk to climb the stairs. The apartment has no elevator and it is a four story building. How can they not put elevators on it? Her room is very clean and has a very soothing scent though it is very small. It is cozy and the things area all well-organized.
"Sir, it is a very short notice that I will transfer to your house, even the face that I am hired on the spot. So my apologies if it will take time to pack all of these." She apologetically said. I simply nod my head.
"It is fine, Miss Palma. I will help you so we could do this in no time." I sincerely offered to help her a hand but she shook her head as a sign that she disagrees.
"I don't think that is appropriate. You are my employer." She said without looking at me.
"I will not take no for an answer Miss Palma. It will take us too long if you do this by yourself. Apart from that, we need to take Rick outside right?" I said.
"Okay, Sir. You're the boss." She said while smiling with her head bowed down. We packed her things and finished everything after half an hour.
We spend the whole day together and I admit it was one of the happiest day of my life. I always spend all my time at work and focus on my business. It is for the future of my son of course but I forgot that he needs me more than anything else. Aunt Roberta always told me that no amount of money can pay the happiness and joy that I would give if I spend quality time with my son. If it was not for the strange emotion that I felt earlier I would not understand what Aunt Roberta means.
From that day on, I made an oath that I will always find a way to be with my one and only son. He needs me, he needs my time, he needs my attention, affection best of all, and he needs my love. I will also do the very best I can to find his mother. Before his second birthday he will meet his mother. He needs her much more than he needs me. The nurture and love of a mother is still different.
