Chapter 29: Chapter 29
It is almost shocking to say that I have not had a single ping of pain from heat and it is now a week.
I have been going to Nina's place almost every day, mostly after school. She is really great company and I now know a few things about Isaac that I did not know. Caleb on the other hand is quite the handful and has been bugging me to give him his rematch but I replied by telling him that I had already given him five rematches which he lost.
It has been the same routine since then but whenever I go back home I miss Isaac. I blame it on the mate bond. I promised him that I would move into his pack with him when I am ready to leave my family and my pack but I am not sure if I will ever be ready. I love my pack and mates and for me to leave, I will just have to grow a pair and join Isaac’s pack when I am ready.
My routine is constantly: wake up, go to school with Allan, enter the four walls of hell (school), and eat my lunch with Allan, Lydia, Isaac and occasionally Alex when he comes to school (I still do not know what they doing at our table), Nina's place and lastly end up in bed at home alone. Now that's a fun timetable, don't ya think? Ah, sarcasm my best friend.
Surprisingly today has been a bit different after classes, Lydia invited me over to her place so I dismissed Isaac and told him that I will not be able to visit Nina today. Though I really wanted to taste her mouthwatering baked goodies today too, I guess I can always do that tomorrow.
"Wait, are you parents at home?" I ask Lydia when she is about to turn the doorknob.
"Yah, but only my mom. My dad returns later in the night." She says about to turn the doorknob again.
"Wait."
She turns around.
"Yes." She sighs.
"Your mom is cool right?" I ask fiddling with my fingers.
I am not usually this nervous about meeting new people especially adults but I have never really thought about meeting Lydia's parents. Allan has apparently met them when he was helping Lydia with her work and claimed that they were nice folks but other than that I do not know how they look and anything about them.
I mean the next thing we do not want is for Lydia's parents to be freaked out by all my black. My mother did once mention that I would scare away someone just with my clothes and not to forget Dylan had said I would come across as a bad influence on a child to any parent.
"Yes she is. I told her about you and she's been eager to meet you." Lydia says with a smile and turns to the door but before she can turn the doorknob I beat her to it.
"Wait."
"What now?" She asks frustration clear in her voice.
"Are you sure this is the right house?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.
"Are you serious?" Lydia looks at me with disbelief.
"What?" I ask innocently.
"Aleisa, don't worry it's just my mom. It's not like you're going to meet your future in laws or something." She says with a small laugh.
"Okay." I finally agree.
Lydia opens the door quickly. I am sure she opened it fast to avoid any more questions from me which I was willing to do just to stall. Immediately we step in the house a woman shouts Lydia's name from a particular direction which I am guessing is the kitchen. I silently look at the lovely context of the house. The house neither lavish nor poorly decorated but just right with a welcoming feel, it reminds me of Nina’s house and that brings a smile on my face.
One wall decorated with a number of framed pictures. I notice one picture of Lydia without the colorful strands of hair but just plain blond. An older looking man with a slight beard staring into the camera with little Lydia in his arms. I am guessing that's the father.
I follow behind Lydia until we end up in the kitchen. A blond haired woman with her back at us, working on whatever she was preparing appears immediately when we enter the kitchen. Her hair not looking as full and healthy as it looked in the pictures I saw earlier and wrinkles have now formed under her eyes. I am guessing that it is stress.
"Mom." Lydia exclaims as she takes a seat around the counter and ushers me to do the same.
"Lydia!" Her mom exclaims as she turns around. Her eyes full of happiness when she spots her daughter. "You must be Aleisa." Her mom acknowledges and I nod with a smile.
"Mom this is Aleisa and Aleisa I bet you know she's my mom." Lydia says with a smile.
"Hello." I wave at her.
"Hey dear. You can call me Janet." She says with a full smile.
"My pleasure meeting you, Janet." I say.
"Oh, it’s really a pleasure to finally meet on of my daughter's friends. She really fancies you and the other one, Allan is it?" She says with a smile.
I just give her a nod. Her eyes brighten at the mention of Allan’s name and I notice how she shares unknown conversation with her daughter. I almost at the woman shipping her daughter with a werewolf, of course she does not need to know that. Al she needs to know is that he is an unusually attractive boy. I always knew that Lydia has a crush on Allan but I did not know that her mother knew too.
"Come on, let's go to my room." Lydia pulls me out of the seat and in the direction of her room when she notices my smile after looking at her mom and her.
"I'll bring you cupcakes when they are ready." Janet shouts.
My stomach leaps in excitement at the sound of cupcakes. I will definitely take her up on that offer if she is a great baker.
We make it to Lydia's room which is painted blue. Honestly I was a bit shocked, I expected pink because she is normally swimming in pink and other bright colors. At times I wonder how she tolerates me in black and how I tolerate her, looking like something Easter puked out. The room looks like any average room with a shelf of books in the corner and a desk in the other with the bed with pink and blue beddings in the center close to a wall.
I lay down on the bed and stare at the ceiling. Lydia jumps into the bed soon after and we both stare at the ceiling in comfortable silence.
"So, you never really told me how Isaac happened." Lydia breaks the silence and I just chuckle
I knew this was coming, I just knew it. I had not given her any reason to believe that Isaac and I could be dating and though the whole school believed it, I know that Lydia does not believe it. She is just a pretty smart girl.
"I also don't really know." I shrug, I actually did not know. He had not really asked me to be his girlfriend but rather just claimed it and the whole world believed it.
"It's so shocking, Isaac is now dating and I haven't heard anything about him shitting around." She says and I laugh at her choice of words.
"I guess he's changing." I reply, not wanting to give strong replies. The topic of Isaac being with other girls still hits a nerve but I have learnt not to dwell on it too much.
"You're lucky you know. Isaac is hot." She says while chuckling.
My wolf growls angrily at the thought of Lydia saying that but I try to shrug of the anger by reminding myself that she is my friend and it is just like a compliment of some sort and not to forget that she is crushing on my best friend.
I let out a nervous smile. "I guess."
After talking about how Lydia thinks her romance life is as dry as a desert, Lydia's mom walks in with a tray of cupcakes.
"Girls, enjoy." She says with a huge smile.
Is this woman always smiling? I almost laugh bitterly at the thought. I could see the slight worry and stress in her eyes and that she is trying to be strong even through what is happening to her.
"Thank you." I exclaim as she makes her way out of the room.
I quickly pick up a cupcake and bring it to my mouth immediately loving the taste.
"Mm....this is good." I compliment as I swallow down the rest of the sugary goodness
"I know, that's why I'm becoming fat." Lydia jokes and I laugh at her saying she is fat.
"You know you're actu-ow!" I scream in pain as an excruciating amount of pain runs through my body with an unmeasurable amount of heat.
Oh no! Not this again.
"What's wrong?" Lydia asks worried.
I tumble around on the bed as the pain kicks in much worse than the other times. Isaac had warned me that the pain would be much worse as time went on and I thought I could handle it like the others but I am now starting to doubt my abilities.
Lydia reaches out to me as I scream in pain and places a hand on my arm.
"Wow, you're abnormally hot." Lydia acknowledges as her mom barges into the room with a worried expression and for the first time her face is not covered with a smile but panic and worry.
"What's wrong?" She asks, rushing towards me. "Jesus! She's hot."
The pain increases as every part of me is submissively swimming in a never-ending amount of heat. I let out a loud scream as a much more unimaginable amount of pain hits the pit of my stomach and my head. Lydia and Janet’s touches not doing anything but making my body heat up more and my irritation grow.
"Oh my god. What's wrong?" Janet asks as she kneels down beside the bed trying to come up with a solution.
Lydia just tugs at the ends of her hair as she looks at me worriedly. Her face holding a look of horror.
"Should I call the hospital mom?" Lydia asks while searching for her phone on the bed.
"Yes, do so. Her body is heating up real bad." Janet replies, mirroring the same look as her daughter
I slowly regain my senses at the sound of the hospital with human doctors. I shake my head aggressively to stop them. Human doctors cannot do anything to make situation better, their methods would only aggravate my wolf even more. I only need one person right now.
Lydia looks at me with disbelief.
"What? We have to call the hospital. This is scary." Lydia says as she opens her phone.
Janet just nods her head to agree with her daughter but I keep shaking my head, unable to form words because of the pain. I turn my head to look at Lydia as the pain increases and my body feels like it is in a pit of hot boiling fire. I motion to my phone that is on the bed, while letting out loud whimpers
"You want me to call someone using your phone?" She asks and I nod aggressively.
"Should I call Allan?" She asks and I shake my head no.
As much as awesome it sounds to have my best friend with me while I go through this amount of pain he will not be able to help me and the scent covering my body might freak him out more than needed. I do not think that he would be able to hold back his wolf like the last time, he is unmated after all.
"Your parents?" She asks again and the panic in her voice increases. But still I shake my head no.
"How about your brother?" She asks now scrolling through my phone. I shake my head no again.
"Oh wait, Isaac?" She asks and I nod my head aggressively to convey a yes.
I watch in pain and whimpers as Lydia dials Isaac's number and he picks up at the first ring.
"Hey, Aleisa?" I hear Isaac's voice on the other side of the phone call, thanks to my advanced hearing and just hearing his voice calms my wolf a bit but not enough for the pain to subside.
"No. It's Lydia, something is wrong with Aleisa." Lydia replies.
"What's wrong with her?" He asks and I can feel the worried tone in his voice.
"I don't know. She's screaming and tossing around and her Temperature is high like really high." Lydia.
"Keep her there, I'm coming. Text me the address." He replies hurriedly and the line goes silent.

"Where is she?" I hear the all too familiar voice as it nears and my pain seems to go up every second.
Lydia's mother opens the door and Isaac rushes in puling me into his arms possessively. The pain eases wherever his skin touches mine making bolts of electricity and shock to surge on the spot. His arms tense up slightly when he gets a whiff of my scent and a low growl of excitement leaves my throat.
I whimper in his arms as he carries me out of Lydia's room.
"Son, where are you taking her?" Janet asks worriedly.
"Home." Isaac replies in a dismissive tone.
"Can I come?" Lydia asks.
"No." Isaac replies now opening the front door.
"Why can't I?" Lydia asks.
"I said no." Isaac replies using his Alpha tone which makes Janet and Lydia cower back in fear even though they do not know the true facts.
"Okay." Lydia replies." Just make sure she's really okay." Lydia says.
Isaac places me in the passenger seat before going around and getting into his seat. Before another passing second the car speeds off and I feel my body weaken at the amount of pain and black dots invade my vision. I feel Isaac's rough but gentle hands on my thigh as he says the last words I can hear before my body gives up and falls limp.
"I'm sorry, this is all my fault. I'm going to make sure you don't go through this again."
