Chapter 59: Chapter 59

I am roused from my sleep by the soundtrack of a motion picture. I've only made it through one round, but I'm already so exhausted that I can hardly move. Mark has started playing Sweet Home Alabama, and I believe it is approximately halfway through at this point. I turn my head to look at the man I love, who is hiding his identity behind a mask so that he can be here with me.

Because he turns to face me and smiles when he sees me looking at him, I believe that he is aware that I am staring at him. At the very least, I believe he's putting on a happy face. "Hi love." While he is doing so, he says while leaning closer to me.

I smile. When you speak in that manner, you have a decidedly British accent. I stutter out the phrase.

I can make out in the corner of his eye a slight crinkle, which is a clear indication that he's smiling. "Do you like it?" He questions it while cocking his head to the side. I nod. "Then I'll keep doing it love," she replied. He appears to be smiling once more from what I can tell.

After that, I turned my attention to the movie. You are responsible for explaining what is taking place right now. I utter this while exhaling a loud sigh and blinking my eyes very slowly.

As he continues to explain, I find that I am unable to keep my eyes open. One of my dreams is about you.

"Mark, what are you waiting for? We're going to be late!" I put my earrings in my ears as I make my way up the stairs, and then I put my shoes on.

"Is it necessary for us to leave? There are going to be a lot of people there who ask questions, and the majority of them I don't really want to answer. As he makes his way down the stairs, he mutters something under his breath.

There aren't that many opportunities for people to get together after high school. I suggest you go into the kitchen and check on Charlie and Abby to see how they are doing.

"Have you ever considered the possibility that there might be a justification for that?" He requests that someone accompany him down the stairs while he is wearing a tuxedo.

I ignore his comment. "Are you absolutely positive that watching them won't bother you in any way?" I beg one final time.

"We're sure. Now, I hope you have a good time at your ten-year high school reunion. Abby says, giving me a hug.

"Kids! Come say farewell!" Mark yells.

The door to the kitchen is suddenly slammed in the face by six pairs of toddling feet. "Bye mama, daddy." Milly says hugging me. "I love you."

"We love you just as much." It's my recommendation that you give her a hug.

"Daddy, do you absolutely need to leave right now?" While Landon is being picked up by Mark, Landon asks the question.

"I have to go, but I'd much rather be with you," I replied. "Mommy is making me." He says. I give him a glance, but he shrugs it off and continues to put him down.

The first leg of the trade involves Kara going to Mark and the second leg having Kyle come to me. After making sure his best friend Camden is okay, Landon makes his way over here. Camden and Lexi, Landon's sister, are currently in the living room watching cartoons together.

Landon says, "Bye, mommy," as he reaches up to hug me. "Bye, mommy." I am the one who picks him up.

"You're getting so huge." I say this while giving him a peck on the cheek and smoothing his hair back with the back of my hand.

"Yes, I am aware; in a short amount of time, I will reach your height." He smirks. His bright blue eyes remind me of his father's, and he makes me feel much older than I actually am.

"Mom?" Milly inquires, her green eyes, which she inherited from me, glowing with anticipation of what it is that she is about to say.

"Yes?" I ask, setting Landon down and moving closer to where she is standing.

"You possess a very alluring appearance." As she gives me another hug, a broad smile spreads across her face.

"Please accept our thanks. I couldn't be happier with the look that you chose for my hair. I give a jovial grin as I run a hand through my waist-length hair, which is naturally curly and reaches almost to the middle of my back.

Once more, I lean in to kiss both Kyle and Kara before being pulled by Mark towards the front door. "So, it sounds like you want to leave now, doesn't it?" This is a question that I have as we make our way to the truck.

"No, I just wanted to do this," the speaker responded. Before he kisses me, he says he's going to pull me into himself and wrap his arms around me. "Ever since I arrived home, I've had it in the back of my mind that I should do that." When he does this, he flashes a grin while pressing his forehead against mine.

"I'm delighted you did." I am going to make an effort to take a few deep breaths and close my eyes in order to fully appreciate what is happening right now.

"Mark," I utter just before opening both of my eyes.

"Hello Alyanna." Maya says moving closer. "Mark needed to go to work," the sentence begins. It's likely that he'll arrive home after midnight tonight." As she explains things, some music can be heard in the background.

"Ok." I sigh. When I roll over onto my side, I ask, "How was the trip?"

"Good, although it is a little lengthy. Kevin says hey." She then says something while marking her place in the book before shutting it and turning to face me, providing me with her undivided attention.

"Hello Kevin." My tongue is sharper than most people's. Maya chuckles.

"Lexi's really cute. I'm sure I've seen her before, but that doesn't change the fact that she's the most beautiful baby in the entire world. She tends to go on and on.

"You'll just have to hold tight until I get one." I smirk.

"Oh, I can't wait. I'm so excited. Of course, having children is something I've always wanted to do; however, the timing isn't quite right. I think that between the two of them, Charlie and your future child will be enough to satisfy my baby fever until I'm ready. She continues on and on without stopping. I'm grateful. I'm wide awake and paying attention, and if she weren't here, I don't even know what I'd do with myself. There are times when sleeping isn't exactly enjoyable.

"Excellent plan." They receive my encouragement in the form of a light laugh.

"So I heard from Charlie that you ran into Zach back in November, how come you didn't tell me?" "So I heard from Charlie that you ran into Zach back in November." She requests that the chair be adjusted so that she can be more comfortable.

"It just seemed a little strange," she said. Zach is the father of a daughter who is two years old, he flirted with me, and he was Mark's physical therapy coach. Mark was an overly possessive husband. This is something I say while sitting up a little straighter. I have to brace myself to prevent myself from sitting up too quickly.

"You ok?" Maya asks, standing up in alert. I give you a slight smile and nod before closing my eyes and leaning back slowly.

"At what temperature does it feel to be outside?" As I gaze through the window at the world outside, I pose this question to Maya.

"It's not going to be too chilly. There is none of that snow."

"I want it to rain, and I want a big, huge thunderstorm with lightning and thunder. I have this dream that my husband and I will get into bed together, wrap ourselves in a blanket, and watch movies until we both fall asleep in each other's arms. I tell her that I'm turning back to face her and that I'm starting to feel sleepy again.

"At what point did you decide to embrace your inner romantic?" She does so while maintaining a teasing smile on her face.

"Please don't take me lightly. I can't wait until this is over so that I can do that, and eventually I want to be in the same position as my child there. I want this to be over. Mark would be holding me while I was holding my newborn son or daughter, and I would be holding my child. I can't help but sigh as I start to well up with tears. "That is something I would like to have. I want to be in this location so that I can have that." I'm saying that you can feel the tears falling down your face.

Maya gets up to get some Kleenex. "And I expect to see you here. "Are you aware of the reason why?" That is her question. I can't help but jerk my head around. "Because you are courageous, strong, and determined all at the same time. You are going to emerge victorious from this challenge, and you are going to bring your aspiration to fruition.

I give you a wry smile and a yawn as I suggest that you consider switching your major to something more inspirational, such as public speaking or motivational advising.

I'm going to think about that and get back to you. That is the very last thing I can remember thinking before drifting off to sleep once more.

I have been in the same position for the past seven days. I have finished the intensive chemotherapy, and the bone marrow transplant is scheduled to take place the following day at eleven in the morning. I am not only feeling dead, but I also look dead, and I am unable to eat. At this point, the only option I have is to sleep. Mark enjoys watching movies and reading books in his spare time. I open my mouth to speak, but he immediately stifles my voice and tells me to go back to sleep. My defenses are so low that I can't even roll my eyes at his excessive concern for my well-being.

"Mark?" I stammer out while turning my head to look at him.

Alyanna, you absolutely have to find some time to relax. "It's two o'clock in the morning." Mark utters these words while setting his book down to the side.

"I am unable to find any peace. I'm sorry, but there's something important I need to discuss with you. I say blinking slowly.

The question is, "What is it?" He requests that you move in a little bit closer.
