Chapter 58: Chapter 58
"Explain it to me in detail," I requested. I think to myself as I roll over onto my stomach and hold myself up on my elbows.
"It had been six or seven years since Thanksgiving when it finally arrived..." It all begins with him.
"It all makes perfect sense that your car accident had place the day before Thanksgiving." I said nodding along.
"Anyways. As soon as I went in the door, you walked over to me and introduced yourself. Your hair was about shoulder length. After some time had passed, Charlie and his two young companions entered the room. One was given the name Alexis, and the other was given the name Milly." When her name was mentioned, a big smile spread across my face. She was my grandmother. How does this real-life situation relate to this dream?
"Was it the reason you mentioned that you loved the names Milly and Landon?" I inquire while drawing in a bit closer to him in order to get a better look at the emotion that is currently on his face.
A very small nod is all that is given. "The name Landon was given to our son who was particularly fond to me." He declares while flashing an arrogant smile. "But Milly did favor you," the speaker said. I chuckle at the humorous manner he is expressing things, and then I allow him to continue. "That day didn't really important, but Lexi did have a sleepover, and...blah blah blah..." He does not stop talking. "Now, the interesting thing about that was the following day..." he pauses for dramatic effect. "So everyone was coming for Thanksgiving, and I didn't know who else to expect until the doorbell rang, and in stepped Liz, Will, Sophie, and Hannah," she said. He announces, seemingly taken aback by the information. The way he is currently expressing himself once more causes me to chuckle. "They had attained a more advanced age. Hannah appeared to be just a few months away from turning fourteen, whilst Sophie gave off the impression of being an adult or someone in their late teens." I couldn't help but chuckle once again when I noticed that he appeared to be little alarmed. "After that, we chowed down on the food and continued our conversation. Before you could even register your hunger, it was already time for dessert. I went upstairs, told Milly and Lexi, and then went into Landon's room, where he was acting all adorable at the time. He offered a few words of explanation. "Mark, he'd up his fingers like like I imagine Landon did. "I carried him back downstairs, and we started cutting the dessert. When everyone had one, you proceeded to make an announcement." He pauses for a while to take a sip from the water he carries with him.
"What did I say? What did I say?" I inquire in a childlike manner, with a great deal of impatience.
"You said you were pregnant!" He yells out in surprise. I find it hilarious how he put it, but I have to be quiet so that he can keep telling his story. "So it seems that everybody had their own response; I was glad, you were happy, and so was everyone else." He pauses in order to reflect about something. After that, there was nothing more that happened to be particularly fascinating, so let's go on to the following day. It appears that he is happy.
"What did take place the following day?" I ask you in jest, growing increasingly agitated.
He gives me a look that seems to be saying "stop up," but he continues talking anyhow."
After a long period of sleep, I eventually got out of bed and went downstairs. After uttering something along the lines of "I smell leftovers," I looked up and saw that I was sitting at the kitchen table, eating my leftovers. I am quite curious about this, so I ask, "Who was it?"
"My father..." "My father..." He makes a motion with his arms that seems like he's playing a piano or keyboard by bringing them up above his head and then bringing them back down again.
"Dun, dun, dun!" I mention it for the sake of maximizing the dramatic effect.
"So I told you I didn't remember a lot of stuff like a crazy person, I asked you to take the kids out of the room, I told my dad off, and he left, I told you that I didn't remember a lot of stuff, and then I realized that I could leave and come back through the front door. After that, I came to in a moment." A small smile curls up on his lips.
"Wow." I'm saying that while simultaneously attempting to take everything in. "That was some kind of delirious dream." I'm going to roll over onto my back and adjust my position so that I'm facing the correct direction.
"Have I mentioned that I was completely unaware that I was actually in the future? When that happened, I erroneously believed that I was still in the year 2018." He asks. I can't help but jerk my head around. "All things considered, it took place." He tells me, thereby providing me with information. I can't help but let out a short chuckle before returning my focus to him. "What?" After waiting for a few period, he finally inquires.
"Nothing." I smile.
He moves his body closer to you. "I love you." He smiles.
"I adore you too." I get a flush in my cheeks, but Mark quickly covers it up by bringing his mouth even closer to mine so that we may kiss. But just then, there was a knock on the door, and our conversation was cut off.
"Please come inside." As Mark and I move further apart from one another, I give him my response.
Abby greets you with a smile and "Hi."
"Hey." I can't help but crack a smile as I see Abby place the baby Lexi's carrier on the bed and then take her outside. "Gimme gimme." I say this while extending out both of my arms in preparation to embrace her. As soon as I have her in my possession, I stare at the angel as she is sleeping and smile to myself.
The question is, "Are you prepared?" Charlie asks me.
I nod. "As prepared as it is possible for me to be."
"May we visit sometime?" Abby is the one who questions it.
"Yes, but Lexi can't, and you have to put on a mask," she replied. I have provided explanation.
"Are I allowed to hold her?" she asked. Mark asks.
"No! My fifteen minutes aren't over." I glare jokingly. He gives a smirk and rolls his eyes simultaneously.
While we are conversing, a nurse enters the room to conduct an examination. Because my mother and Will are running a little late, I get a few additional minutes to spend with Lexi before they arrive. Mark is going to accompany them as they leave the building and share a meal with them before they head home. During the time that Maddy and my dad are sitting down to eat supper together.
Mark goes to open the door for them when there is a second knock at the door, and then he goes outside with them to clear some time for Charlie and Abby to get ready to leave. Mark exits the building alongside them at the appropriate time, which is when they announce that they are ready to depart. Sophie yells out "Hello" before running over to envelop me in a bear hug and saying it to me while she does so.
"Would you mind telling me about your trip?" I want her to give me a good, firm hug, so I ask her to do that.
"Alright, I was so antsy the whole time because I wanted to see you so badly," she said. "It's been so long!" While she is seated next to me on the bed, she gives me a friendly smile.
"I created this piece specifically for you to use in your art class." Hannah smiles.
I glance at it. It's a picture of myself in front of a class, holding a paintbrush in one hand and my charm bracelet in the other. I'm now wearing a scarf that's wrapped around my head. "That is fantastic! Thank you, Han." I give her a friendly grin and draw her up to sit on the bed with my daughter Sophie and me. I really can't help but wonder what kind of reaction this teacher had and what she shared with the class as a result.
The question is, "Are you prepared?" Will asks. That is the second time in the past hour that someone has asked me that, and to be honest, it is starting to get frustrating, but I do understand why they are asking.
"As prepared as it is possible for me to be." I give a little smile.
We will remain seated and engaged in conversation till the arrival of my father and Maddy. I bid farewell to them, and then they drive to my father's place to spend the night. Because they will be departing the next day, it is more reasonable for them to remain there than than check into a motel.
While I go for the hamburger, Maddy goes for the pasta with alfredo sauce—what a revolting combination! My dad orders a chicken sandwich with fries. He usually gets them. It's impossible for me to resist taking a few for myself. We have a good time talking, laughing, and reminiscing about the conferences that took place when Maddy was my instructor. They were constantly flirting with one another and didn't try to hide the attraction they felt.
I'll have to say my last good-byes to Maddy and my dad when Mark gets back. The two of them will be here tomorrow night to greet me. We call the nurse in, and while we wait for her to finish, we begin preparing me for my first round of intensive chemotherapy. Even if I'm not sure if I'm prepared, it's imperative that I am.
"Remember that I love you always," the speaker said. Before I have to lie in bed for the next three days and have hand-to-hand contact with someone who is wearing gloves and a mask, Mark grabs my hand and kisses me on the forehead before telling me that I have to do this.
"I adore you too." I say that as he puts on his mask and gloves before pricking my finger and handing me a tablet. At the same time, I am being given the pill.
