Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Two weeks after we arrived in Hawaii, I am currently here in the emergency room at six o'clock in the evening, waiting for the attending physician to come in and give the all clear. In addition to that, I am quite hungry.

"Mark." I am a whiner.

He then asks, "Yes?"

"I'm hungry." I say now sulking.

We won't have to wait much longer, and then we'll be able to go back to the hotel and have something to eat. Mark is currently checking the contents of the luggage he brought.

"No! The first restaurant that comes to my mind is going to host our meal." I demand. "Ok. Ok. Can you simply be patient for 2 more minutes?" He asks. "Just two minutes, not a moment longer," the timer said. Absolutely.

It took up ten minutes of my time. I was on the verge of imploding due to the absence of food in my holo stomach when the physicians didn't arrive for another ten minutes after they had been called.

"Alyanna, I sincerely apologize for keeping you waiting." Dr. Elaine apologizes.

"Well, it's all good." I fake it. Mark looks at me, and I can't help but roll my eyes at him.

"Everything seems to be in wonderful shape. You have regained some of your strength, and it looks like you'll be able to travel home later on tonight." She says.

"Thank you." I have this urgent need to get up and begin moving, but I'm aware that if I do so, it might prevent me from going home immediately away. Hence, I hold my breath till she goes.

I check to make sure the door is closed by leaning forward on the bed. After that, I quickly stand up and put my shoes on in a hurry.

"Take it easy in that spot. Do you really not want me to go obtain medical help for you?" Mark makes a threat.

"No." I jerk my head back and forth incessantly. After that, I have the epiphany that doing that could result in yet another headache, so I quit. "I'm good. Let's get moving!" I race to the door, grab his arm, and open it, but as soon as I do, I have to slow down.

We make it all the way down to the doors, and as soon as they open, I take a deep breath. "Is it nice to finally be outside of that stifling room?" Mark asks.

I inhale and exhale deeply a few times. "Yes. That does so very much." After that, my thoughts immediately return to food. "Let's go." I say snapping up and seizing Mark's hand again.

When we get into the car, I switch on the radio, and Bad Romance starts playing almost immediately. I immediately start moving my body and singing along with the music. "If I had to guess, I'd say you like this music," Mark asks, beaming at me.

"I would say that is the case." After that, I hear rumbling in my stomach. "Food!" I mutter to myself repeatedly. I end the song and turn to look around. "Where you are. The Aloha Bar & Restaurant can be found here." I make sure to tell Mark to stop the car and make sure he does. He follows the instructions and parks, but he is hesitant to walk inside. "You ok?" I ask him.

"Yeah. After I acquired this knowledge, I immediately came here." It seems likely that he was referring to the time when he learned that I had cancer.

"Oh." Is all I say. I am completely at a loss for words here. I'm so happy that you got intoxicated and narrowly avoided getting into an accident. In my opinion, that is not the case. "But I'm still starving." I recommend exiting the vehicle immediately.

He does so despite the fact that he is not particularly pleased with it. As soon as we go in, I make my way over to a seat and begin perusing the menu. "Hi I'm Rachel. This evening, I'll be the one to serve you. May I buy you a drink to get the party started?" This is posed by the server.

"Diet coke." Mark responds to her while concealing his identity behind the menu.

"Now, if it isn't the husband who is 21 years old and didn't want any booze." She is addressing Mark directly. Okay, so it looks like he didn't drink, which is a good thing; however, what the earth is this lady talking about? She is beautiful, stunningly beautiful. Mark isn't even paying attention to what she's saying to him. He is just too preoccupied with what's on his plate.

There is an uncomfortable pause in conversation. "Hello, my name is Alyanna and I am Mark's wife." I give my cap a slight readjustment.

"Hi. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." She says this while her eyes appear to be slightly widened, as if she is in a state of shock. What did Mark say to her that caused her to react in such a startled manner? She comes to her senses quickly. "I'm sorry, what kind of beverage would you like me to get for you?" She inquires of me once more.

"Please make the mark as him." I say. She walks away while shaking her head, indicating that she is likely still in shock.

Mark is still concealing his identity behind the menu. "So, what do you think has a nice appearance?" He suggests that we discuss something else.

"You are the one who is elaborating. Now!" I demand.

"I decided to come in and have a seat at the bar. She approached me from behind and made a sexual advance." When he is explaining things to me, I do my best to maintain a calm front even though, internally, I am going absolutely bananas with envy. "I placed an order for a diet coke and discussed you with her." Then he comes to a halt.

"What did you say?" I inquire.

"I heard that you were admitted to the clinic with..." He pulls back.

"Leukemia?" I respond to him by answering my own question. The man gives a slight nod. "Are you mad?" He asked me.

"No, this is not the case at all." I remark to him as I firmly grasp his hand and swiftly spin around. I switch my attention back to Mark and give him a kiss right at the moment when the server returns to bring out the drinks.

She inhales and exhales slowly. Have you made up your mind about what you want? She asks with her jaws clenched tightly together. Ahh jealousy I like it. Accept the times when I feel envious.

Everything has been prepared and is now packed and ready to depart. We have already left for the airport to begin our trip back home. I do not wish to do it. This means that I have precisely one week before I start receiving treatment.

As I sit in the front seat of the car and watch Mark load everything into the car, I can't help but reflect on how quickly this summer has passed. Since I was in the seventh grade, one of my goals has been to travel around Europe. My goal is still in reach at this point. I have to get over this wacky notion of going on a trip all by myself so that I can concentrate on becoming healthier. But, this is not as simple as it may seem.

"Ready to go?" Mark puts in a request to get in the car.

"Sure." I sigh. My mind keeps going back to Europe over and over again.

The journey in the automobile to the airport is quite calm—almost too quiet. After we get through security, there is an uncomfortable hush. I don't react in any way when we find out that our flight will be delayed; however, I do catch a glimpse of Mark looking over at me, briefly opening his lips, and then quickly closing it again.

I'm sorry I said what I did, but at the same time I'm appreciative of what happened. "Please adjust your schedule!" As I get up, I make the announcement.

"What do you mean?" Mark says, "Are you following me?"

I spin around, almost at a breakneck speed. "We're heading to Europe," you announced. After that, I make a mad dash to acquire two new tickets, and Mark follows close behind, perplexed as to what could possibly be going through my head.
