Chapter 33: Chapter 33
KIERA'S P.O.V
My mouth wanted to scream in protest at Jayar's action to hold Jai. Fear had me enslaved to the strange sparkle in his eyes, but I forced myself to put my fear aside first. I can't believe the man who had been on my mind for so long is now here, in front of me, and with me.
When I saw the owner of the car and my son Jai, who called Jayar his Daddy, I almost passed out. At the time, there was a lot of shock, panic, fear, and confusion. I then wondered why I had shown his photo to Jai as my son's father. I wasn't expecting my little angel to bury his face in his mind. Really, I'm a complete moron! By chance, how do I explain this to my child?
Mela and I held our breath as we followed the man. I have no idea what I'm feeling. It appears as if I'd like to crumble in on what happened. I was recently in my bedroom when the house caught fire, we were walking down the street when I was nearly hit by a car, and now I'm facing the man I've secretly admired for three years.
I could smell Jayar's strange scent on his jacket, which I was wearing at the time. It's very masculine, and it's nice to not have to put it off indefinitely. I hadn't realized I was only wearing a nightgown and didn't have a bra on, so my breast was exposed.
To see the rest of the house, my eyes widened. I was astounded by how lovely it was. On each side, valuable and exquisite items are displayed and hung. It's a sign that he's wealthy, and I won't face any opposition if they take the child away from me.
I was nervous at the prospect, but I quickly dismissed the negative image. We'll be leaving tomorrow as well, but why? I don't have any money right now.
We ended up in a room that Jayar had brought for us. He flipped the switch, flooding the room with light. This room was enormous, and it was the size of the entire house we had burned down.
He gently placed Jai on the plush and spacious bed. He appears to be a wonderful father.
He formally said to me, "Take a rest," and then walked out.
I was completely taken aback by his actions. Is it really like this for the wealthy people? They're always so solemn and formal?
When I yawned, my eyes were drowsy and my body was exhausted. Mela and I both lay down next to my son. Because of the size of the bed, it can accommodate three of us.
I closed my eyes a few moments later. I'll just go back to sleep. My spirit, on the other hand, is very much alive. I looked up at the ceiling when I opened my eyes. I slapped my cheek gently. I'm starting to feel sleepy. I need to get some rest so that I can be more productive tomorrow.
JAYAR'S P.O.V
I stripped down to my underwear and wore only boxer shorts. I sat down on the bed and turned on the air conditioner. I fell asleep soundly in a few moments, possibly because I was tired.
"Good day, Daddy! Get up!"
Irrational the next day, I opened my eyes. My sleep was disrupted, and my headache persisted. But it disappeared when I saw the boy's warm smile.
"How did you get in here, son?" In astonishment, I asked. I locked the door, to the best of my knowledge.
"You forgot to lock the door, Dad. I also took a look around every room in this house!" As he climbed on top of me, he grinned broadly. "What's your name, Daddy? Mom never tells me anything."
I couldn't help but smile at this kid's enthusiasm. I never imagined it would be so, "Jayar."
“Wow! Jayar is also my name! Despite the fact that I am no longer a baby, Mom still refers to me as baby Jai. Look at me, I'm a big boy! I can give Mom a hug if she's sad, but now that you're here, Mommy won't be sad anymore, Daddy."
The last line he said left me speechless. Daddy? I'd like to laugh. Maybe I look like this child's father, and my name is still the same as his.
"Come on, Daddy! Let's give Mom a warm kiss in the morning!"
Huh? I scratched my head and softly laughed. I just rode his enthusiasm and said, "Later son."
Jai, on the other hand, compelled me to do so. He abruptly yanked me away. I gave in and led me to the room I had brought them the night before.
Kiera, the woman whose name I still remember, is soundly sleeping. I was shaken and turned to face Jai because her nightgown was slightly distorted.
"Jai, stay here with Mom. I'm going to take a shower." I then turned away. I became uneasy and bothered all of a sudden.
KIERA'S P.O.V
I was taken aback all of a sudden. My dream is so vivid. The child was allegedly taken from me by the Montevidads, and I cried. I quickly looked around for Jai, but he was nowhere to be found.
I leapt out of bed and began searching for my son. If my nightmare came true, I would undoubtedly perish. I was trembling.
Mela said to me on the stairwell, "Sir is with Jai, Kiera."
“Where? Why didn't you go ahead and wake me up?"
"They'll just go outside and buy something and come back right away," she said, surprised. "Your husband then told me to—"
"She's not my husband, Mela," I clarified after she finished speaking.
She scratched her head and looked at me, perplexed. "Didn't Jai call him Daddy, Kiera? I was under the impression that he was your husband... I also noticed that you have a picture of him in your room."
I was caught off guard by what she said and was unable to respond immediately. I am, indeed, illusory. I'm not sure how I'm going to explain this.
"When did they leave?" I ask, shifting my subject.
“Earlier. It could take up to two hours."
I rubbed my temples. Is it really two hours? I gave Jai two hours to be with Jayar? What will I tell my son if we have to leave this big house? I also forgot that I have a commitment today.
"We've arrived!" The enthusiastic opening of the door by Jai.
I took one look at his place and dashed down to hug him. At this point, I am completely unaware of my appearance and actions.
"Why did not you wake me up?" I asked, concerned.
He laughed and waved the Superman robot he was carrying around. "I'm with Dad. There's nothing to be concerned about, right? Look, Mommy, it's the superhero Superman! And my name is Jai, and I'm also a superhero!" He kissed me on the cheek after that.
My eyes are tearing up. I am extremely fortunate to have him in my life. Take everything away from me except this child. It would also be unjust if they took it from me in case Jayar discovered it was his nephew. From the beginning, I was the one who raised it after my friend died.
Then I noticed the man standing behind Jai. Standing there, staring at the two of us.
"Daddy?" Jayar drew Jai's attention and he clung to it. "Let's give something for Mommy as well!"
When I stood up, I secretly winced. I need to change the child's perception of what he refers to as 'Dad.' Jayar is not his biological father.
When he handed me two large paper bags containing clothes, he said flatly, "I bought you something to wear."
He gave me a fleeting glance at my body, and I assumed I was wearing a see-through nightgown. Shame on me, God! I quickly accepted the paper bag and dashed upstairs to shower and change.
We leave after all of this. We are, in fact, leaving. I need to erase the fact that Jayar is not his father from the child's mind so that he is not hurt after we leave. But I regret that thought in my heart.
I went downstairs after getting dressed. My son might be irritated by the wait. Perhaps I should go to my boss and explain myself. After that, I'll borrow money from a coworker.
I could hear laughter and giggles in Jai and Jayar's living room just downstairs. I became jittery. They were only separated by a day, and now they're so close.
"Mom is here!" When Jai saw me, his eyes widened. He dashed over to me and grabbed my arm.
His plan to sit down and play with the two of them shook me to my core. My son, on the other hand, was so persistent that I was powerless to resist when he forced me to sit on the sofa.
The man's happy expression vanished all of a sudden. Formality and seriousness took its place.
The boy looked around at us, as if studying the two of us on the sofa facing each other.
"Dad?"
"Jai, c-come here. I have something to say to you," I said, and he came over to stand beside me. "He... He's not..."
Jayar said angrily, "Don't ruin your child's happiness."
"I'm not going to ruin his happiness, Mr. Montevidad. For God's sake, I just want to be honest!" Even though I was nervous about Jayar's stares, I forced myself to fight back.
He raised the corner of his mouth and stared at me even harder. "I'm giving you a heads-up. Are you sure you don't want to hurt him?"
The last thing he said astounded me. He was correct, but it was a mistake to begin with. I averted my gaze because I couldn't stand the stare. At these times, the strength of my heartbeat. Deafening. This is a tricky and fast-paced right now. I was having trouble keeping track of time.
"Are you squabbling with each other?"
At the same time, we both looked at the child. I could see his fear on his face. Looking at him made me feel as if my heart was aching.
"No, son." Jayar flashed a smile and motioned for Jai to approach him. "We're just..." he began by looking at me and staring at me for a few moments. "Talking."
"The food has been prepared." Mela emerged from the corridor
I was puzzled. When did Mela became a maid in this house?
The man jumped to his feet and carried Jai to commedor. I couldn't help but stare at the two of them.
I sneaked a glance at Jayar while the three of us were seated around at the large table. He eats in a formal and quiet manner. I don't think I've ever heard him speak.
"M-mr. Montevidad." I was tempted to chastise myself. I was trembling.
He raised his head and fixed his gaze on me. "What?" he demanded obstinately.
"After this, we're leaving."
He simply frowned and returned his focus to the food he was eating.
I bit my lower lip in response to his reaction. He didn't even respond to me.
"Can you tell me where you're going?"
I was the one who remained silent. What are our plans? I still haven't found a place to call home.
He abruptly stood up and looked at me. "When you're finished, you three can go. I'm on my way to work."
"Daddy, I love you!" Jai leapt to his feet and kissed him on the cheek.
"I love you as well, son. Won't you be a good boy to Mommy?" He then walked away.
"Wait, Daddy!" Jai took his hand in his. As I continued to observe them. "How about Mommy?"
My eyes widened as I exclaimed, "Jai!" I understand what my son is saying. God! I just have a feeling Jayar will kiss me on the cheek, and I won't be able to sleep tonight.
"I'm sorry, son, but I have to leave." He ruffled the child's hair and smiled.
"But, Dad! Please? Please, pretty please?" Jai drew the man closer to me, rolling his puppy eyes.
Insanity swallowed me whole. It does not appear to be a good situation. I felt compelled to flee and hide. No! Thinking that he kisses me, I might can't forget him.
"All right," he stepped closer to me. His unwavering gaze seemed to gnaw at my flesh.
I was trembling and unsure of what to do. Why is he obligated to follow the child's request? We're both aware that we don't deserve to be doing this.
“Yeheey! Daddy loves Mommy!" As Jayar approached me and bowed, Jai clapped behind him.
Color seems to have eluded me. When I felt him approaching, I couldn't breathe. He was so close! I'm pretty sure I can smell the body spray he uses now. It's amusing to consider because it's already leaving an impression on my sense of smell. I'd get to know him even if I couldn't see him.
"Bye," his voice was soft and hoarse, and it was released into my mouth to give the impression that he had kissed me in front of my son's eyes.
Thousands of sensations surrounded me. That hushed voice had an odd effect on me. Thank God he never kiss me! Despite my expectations that he would kiss, I felt a pang of regret in the pit of my stomach.
When he left us, I was barely able to move. I keep thinking it's still a dream, but it's not; I'm awake.
