Chapter 53: Chapter 53

The main city of the Jadeite Star Domain is an exceptionally unique place, even within the vast expanse of the Federation.

This place is saturated with the scent of wealth, and filled with all kinds of tangled interests and social intricacies.

Perhaps the Federation's radicals would clamor about the decadent social intricacies and class barriers of the old era.

But within the Jadeite Star Domain, such voices quietly vanish.

Within the Jadeite Star Domain, the delightful sound produced by the jingling of wealth drowns out all questioning voices.

Even if the flow of wealth here exists only within certain aristocratic circles, it's still very difficult to hear any criticism of the Jadeite Star Domain in the media.

Within such a unique Jadeite Star Domain, the Interstellar Hunter Branch located in this star domain's main city is also an exceptionally unique place within this domain.

This Interstellar Hunter Branch is notoriously unreasonable, rule-breaking, and barbaric within the Jadeite Star Domain.

Many of the big shots within the Jadeite Star Domain look down their noses at this Interstellar Hunter Branch.

Moreover, it lacks any aristocratic air, being a complete source of trouble.

And the fundamental cause of this phenomenon, the source of it all...

stems from the branch chief of this branch—Sebastian Benjamin.

He is a radical admirer of the old era.

However, he does not admire the decadent systems of the past old era, he admires the extremely barbaric pioneering spirit of the old era.

In the late period of the Federation's old era, the Federation Council enacted the "Pioneering Act."

Anyone could venture to unfamiliar star domains, occupy and develop unfamiliar planets.

Those with outstanding achievements would be granted noble titles, the kind that could be passed down through generations.

The so-called pioneering spirit is essentially a pragmatic spirit of doing whatever it takes to achieve the goal.

Everything is for development, and a little barbarism is acceptable.

Order and morality, in Sebastian Benjamin's eyes, are worth less than a piece of toilet paper.

Under the leadership of Mr. Benjamin's extremely distinctive personal style, the Interstellar Hunter Branch he manages has become one of the most troublesome organizations in this star domain.

In the eyes of the Federation Security Bureau and the Law Enforcement Department, this Interstellar Hunter Branch is only slightly better than a cult organization.

The difference between them and cult organizations is that cult organizations openly violate Federation laws. Tʜe source of this ᴄontent ɪs novel[f]ire.net

As for this Interstellar Hunter Branch, as long as you don't catch them with ironclad evidence of a crime, they dare to sue you in Federation courts for human rights violations and violent law enforcement.

Sometimes, the Security Bureau and Law Enforcement Department even feel these people are worse than cults...

At least cults don't make them go to Federation courts to prove their innocence.

And today, October 9th, Federal Calendar 7708.

On this utterly ordinary day.

Outside this majestic building with a distinctly old-era architectural style, stands an Interstellar Hunter who has come from another star domain far away.

The raven on his shoulder is quite human-like in its commentary on this building.

"Dear master, I smell the scent of Spirit Stones..."

"They must have spent a fortune in Spirit Stones to build a structure !!!"

"Look at the plaza we walked through, it's paved with high-quality rock! Those reliefs on the exterior walls, judging by the marks, are hand-carved too!!!"

"Heavens! Even the steps under our feet, not only do the materials look expensive, but they're all engraved with artistic patterns!!!"

"Shut up, stupid bird."

Loren, with the raven on his shoulder, walked into this Interstellar Hunter Branch.

The raven's uncouth, unsophisticated behavior had thoroughly embarrassed him.

Loren silently lowered the brim of his top hat, ignoring the strange looks others were casting his way.

He quietly walked to a reception window and presented his hunter license.

"Hello, ma'am. I need a place to stay, and I'm here to apply for the Fifth Rank hunter assessment."

The clerk inside the window expertly took Loren's Interstellar Hunter license and inserted it into her computer.

After a flurry of nimble finger movements, the hunter license was handed back.

"Welcome to the Jadeite Star Domain, Mr. Loren."

"Your restroom is on the 29th floor, number 69."

"Your application for the Fifth Rank hunter assessment has been submitted. The assessment is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 AM, located in the basement on the negative first floor of this building. Please arrive on time."

Loren retrieved his hunter license and gave a slight nod of acknowledgment.

"You're welcome. May your path as a Superhuman be a pleasant one, Mr. Loren."

The lady inside the window gently offered Loren a blessing.

She liked Interstellar Hunters who spoke simply ; they didn't increase her workload.

And, to be a Fifth Tier Superhuman at such a young age, only 23... his future prospects were limitless...

After retrieving his hunter license, Loren walked towards the lobby elevators with a pleasant mood.

He liked this place, especially the amiable attitude of that clerk.

No discrimination, no fear either.

Arriving before the elevator, he pressed the button and stood quietly waiting at the elevator doors.

However, this peaceful atmosphere didn't last long.

"From another star domain?"

A man with a face full of stubble came up close to Loren and inquired.

Someone had noticed Loren even before he had just entered the building.

After all, many people had heard the raven's unsophisticated remarks at the entrance.

"Can I help you?" Loren asked flatly.

"Want to join my team? Looks like you don't have a team yet. Being all alone in the Jadeite Star Domain, that just won't do."

The stubbly-faced man grinned mischievously as he extended the invitation to Loren.

*Join my team, and just give me half the mission rewards*, the man thought to himself.

*These outsiders, these newcomers, you find one less of them every time you meet one. Can't let this opportunity go to waste...*

"No need. But if you have any other ideas, I'm quite welcoming of them." Loren said, his eyes gleaming as he stared at the other man.

Finally, someone sees me as a newcomer and comes to bully me!!

Such fun, I haven't experienced it yet...

Because when Loren joined the Interstellar Hunter Association, he was already notorious on the resource planet.

This meant he hadn't had the chance to experience such interesting things.

It made him very much look forward to this man's next response.

Hearing Loren's reply, the stubbly-faced man's expression froze.

This reply was clearly not right...

*Did I provoke a big shot??*

The man inwardly grumbled, then cautiously asked:

"May I ask what tier Superhuman you are?"

"I'm just a Third Rank hunter, don't worry, sir." Loren replied cleverly, as if knowing what the other was thinking, answering the man's question.

The stubbly-faced man's expression became conflicted. *Only Third Tier? And so arrogant? Could he have backing??*

As if seeing through what the other was thinking, Loren added another sentence:

"No backing. I just arrived today. I don't know anyone in the Jadeite Star Domain either."

The stubbly-faced man's expression grew even more conflicted. He wanted to retreat.

*The other guy seems to know exactly what I'm thinking... that's really damn eerie...*

*Plus this indifferent attitude... damn it, I've provoked a tough character...*
