Chapter 76: Chapter 76
"Why did you think of calling me?" Landon Lawson looked at Evan Quinn with interest.
Actually, the night before, Evan had secretly called Landon, telling him that there would be a parent-teacher meeting at the kindergarten today, and then hung up. When Evan made the call, Sienna was still in a meeting with others, busy dealing with issues at HR Group. Seeing her busy figure, Evan knew that Sienna was very likely to forget about the parent-teacher meeting tomorrow.
But recalling that day in the hospital, the feeling of being held in the man’s embrace—he experienced paternal love for the first time. This feeling was both unfamiliar and alluring to him.
Evan originally didn’t have high hopes that he would come, after all, Landon still didn’t know he was his son.
"Just called casually, wanting to thank you for helping me and Danielle that day."
Landon raised his handsome eyebrows, this little kid’s way of speaking was quite formal, really didn’t know who he learned it from.
"Why didn’t your mommy come?"
Since starting, Landon hadn’t seen Sienna.
At Evan’s parent-teacher meeting, how could Sienna as his mother not attend? Could it be she couldn’t manage even this?
Thinking of this, Landon’s wrist tightened slightly, the Lawson’s descendants wandering outside, now even for a parent-teacher meeting Sienna couldn’t manage. Did she want to let his son suffer outside?
"Mommy is working, very busy." Evan spoke slowly.
"Working very busy?" Landon instantly understood. When Jason’s contract signing was suddenly canceled, he knew it was Sienna who went to stop Jason, only then they got a second chance.
It seems Sienna has been busy with project plans these days, even forgetting about the parent-teacher meeting.
"Even if busy, she shouldn’t not attend the parent-teacher meeting."
The man’s voice was a bit cold, but Evan rolled his eyes at him.
"Isn’t it your handiwork? Stole Mommy’s design plan and got her suspended. If she didn’t work hard, we would’ve starved to death a long time ago."
Seeing those lively eyes filled with blame, Landon felt a pang in his heart. Did such things happen often before?
Seeing Evan’s calm demeanor, he boldly guessed in his heart.
"This opportunity given by HR Group must be seized." Sienna’s face was somewhat pale; she could only sleep a few hours each day.
Looking at Chloe Langley and Hector Warren, especially the latter, who was not young and had been worn out these days, even the iron man Sean Carter was nearly at his limit.
"You all go back early to rest today, I still need to refine the plan to prepare for HR Group’s assessment."
"President Quinn, we can’t rush, take your time," Sean Carter looked at Sienna with some concern. She had been more frantic than anyone these past few days; if this continued, even a man wouldn’t hold up, let alone her, a woman.
Sienna let Chloe Langley and Hector Warren adjourn the meeting first, bearing two large dark circles as she looked at Sean Carter.
Before speaking, she suddenly remembered something, grabbed her coat, and ran outside.
Seeing the woman suddenly leave without a word, Sean was stunned, shouting, "Where are you going?"
"Chloe’s parent-teacher meeting!"
Sienna drove all the way, how could she forget such an important matter? Last week, Evan specifically told her today was the parent-teacher meeting.
Never having attended Evan’s parent-teacher meetings since childhood, Sienna felt inherently guilty. As a result, she was so busy she forgot all about it.
When she arrived, she stood at the door peering inside.
Teacher Cole, who was hosting the parent-teacher meeting inside, immediately noticed Sienna standing at the door peering in. Sienna smiled apologetically, "Teacher Cole, I’m late."
"Chloe’s there." He pointed to Evan sitting at the front.
Sienna nodded with a smile and was walking towards Evan, but her pupils suddenly constricted, seeing the man sitting next to Evan. She furrowed her brows slightly, how could it be such a coincidence? Why was he here too?
Did he know Evan’s true identity?
Sienna’s heart tightened, the thing she feared most likely happened.
Landon looked at Sienna with interest, seeing her body stiffen for a moment, then bravely walk over.
The expression on the woman’s face was extraordinary, watching it made him feel particularly delighted. Ever since Sienna returned this time, she has often been at a disadvantage with him. To see such rich expressions on Sienna’s little face was indeed the first time.
"Mommy, sit here." Evan reached out his little hand and patted the seat beside him gently, appearing very excited.
Sienna sat down solemnly.
"Now, let’s have all the kids come up and read a letter to their mom and dad."
Teacher Cole said to the children below.
Evan stood up, looked at the two and said, "I’ll go up now."
Sienna smiled at him, watching Evan’s chubby little body leave, the smile on her face gradually stiffened, there are some things Evan couldn’t hear yet.
She said in a low voice, "Why are you here?"
"Why can’t I be here?" Landon’s gaze was full of teasing.
Sienna laughed coldly, "President Lawson is really shameless, seems you don’t take HR Group’s matters to heart. Or are you going to use other dirty tricks again?"
The woman’s eyes had thick sarcasm; despite solving the last incident, the biggest beneficiary was still Landon. To her, pushing the project director out was merely a sacrificial move.
Seeing the woman’s words filled with implied reproach, Landon’s brows furrowed slightly.
"I didn’t know or instruct that incident."
"Even if you didn’t instruct it, so what? They were your group’s people, bribing our people, stealing plans, and framing me, such high-level tactics."
"I only found out about his actions afterward. I, Landon Lawson, wouldn’t resort to such dirty means."
The man snorted coldly, flicking his sleeve. Did Sienna not even have that trust in him?
Watching Evan on the stage, reading the letter to mom and dad, a beautiful smile blossomed on his delicate little face, his big eyes smiling in a charming arc.
The woman’s gentle gaze was filled with maternal love, the upward curve of her lips making Landon somewhat entranced.
However, her pale little face, unadorned, appeared somewhat frail.
Dark rings under her eyes, clearly showing several sleepless nights.
The man’s eyes gradually darkened, was this how Axel Yates treated Sienna?
"Have you been working overtime lately? Is Axel Yates draining the employees ?" The man’s tone carried displeasure; Sienna, his woman, had to work so hard, making him appear like a useless man.
