Chapter 64: Chapter 64

"He really is Chloe’s dad." Chloe said quite seriously, her pretty little face frozen together. Her small figure and earnest expression made Todd Lowell laugh out loud, but he didn’t take Chloe’s words to heart.

When a child says something so shocking, even if it comes from their mouth, what difference does it make? Would anyone truly believe it? Clearly not.

Chloe sat in the passenger seat next to Landon Lawson and suddenly turned her head, her smile transformed into a determined look.

In a very earnest manner, she made Landon Lawson aware that what she was about to say was the result of deep contemplation. This update is available on novèlfire.net

"Just now, thank you." Her tone was childlike and adorable, making Landon Lawson feel an odd sensation inside. The feeling was subtle; seeing someone with a face identical to his own always felt strange, yet there was an impulse to draw closer.

Landon Lawson pursed his lips, the cold aura around him shifting with his emotions.

"No need to thank, I just can’t stand people being timid and swallowing their anger." Landon Lawson said insincerely.

"You didn’t call me over just to thank me, did you?" Landon Lawson slowly started speaking again, considering how Chloe, upon hearing such shocking words moments ago, neither felt astonishment nor fear. Her calmness, for a four-year-old child, exceeded his understanding.

For someone who has never had a father, suddenly having a man claim to be his dad should be surprising, unless there are two possibilities.

One is he knew beforehand, and the other is he thinks Landon Lawson is joking with him.

"Did you mean what you said earlier? Are you really my dad?" Evan Quinn’s gaze was intense.

Landon Lawson lightly coughed and then slowly spoke, "What do you think?"

"I don’t care if it’s true or not, but I hope you don’t tell anyone else about our relationship. Even if it’s true, let it rot in your stomach." Chloe’s exceptionally calm eyes showed no ripples; she looked indifferently at Landon Lawson.

Landon Lawson’s body paused slightly, then he laughed coldly, "You truly are Sienna Quinn’s son; you both are just as heartless."

Evan Quinn remained indifferent, picked up his little backpack, and got out of Landon Lawson’s car without forgetting to repeat once again before leaving.

Landon Lawson laughed coldly, "I’m not your dad. I couldn’t possibly father such worthless children."

"Oh, that’s even better. Just now, thank you." Evan Quinn politely turned around, bowed at a ninety-degree angle towards Landon Lawson, and then crossed the road alone without looking back, carrying his backpack.

Watching the little child’s back, Landon Lawson’s expression was unpleasant; is this how this mother and son pair thank him?

Evan Quinn walked with his backpack to the kindergarten entrance and proactively grabbed Teacher Cole’s hand, cautiously inquiring about what had just happened.

Evan Quinn allowed Teacher Cole to hold his hand.

Landon Lawson gripped the steering wheel tightly, his anger gradually cooling down, and after calming, what remained in his heart was a thick suspicion.

Judging by Evan Quinn’s performance and tone earlier, it seemed it was the first scenario. Could he also know who his biological father is? If he knew, why not seek out his dad?

Instead, repeatedly admonishing not to let the news leak out, is there another hidden truth?

Landon Lawson turned the car around, intending to head to the company.

"Mommy, don’t forget, next week is the parent-teacher conference. You absolutely can’t let Dad come, or else I’ll be in trouble again."

"Got it, Mommy definitely won’t forget."

Parent-teacher conference? There’s actually a parent-teacher conference next week?

Landon Lawson sat in the car, his hand on the steering wheel, the pupils of his eyes deepened somewhat.

As Landon Lawson drove past the cafe underneath the company building, he noticed Vera Yates sitting inside, drinking coffee. His brow furrowed; was she here to see him? But Nolan Shaw hadn’t called him.

In that brief moment, he saw the project manager from his group sitting opposite Vera Yates, the two chatting and laughing.

Landon Lawson felt somewhat confused. What was the relationship between these two? Why were they having coffee alone?

Though the project manager is also a young talented person, if Vera Yates could really develop something with him, it would be something Landon Lawson wants to see, as he can’t give her what she desires.

Vera Yates, looking at the man across with a slightly flushed face, smiled gently, "You must be Stephen’s project director, mainly responsible for designing the HR Group scheme this time, right?"

"Miss Vance, I wonder what brings you to see me today?" The man looked at Vera Yates with her baseball cap; if he hadn’t known beforehand, today’s attire would’ve made her unrecognizable.

Though dressed heavily, Vera Yates’s sensual figure was still a beautiful sight, and Landon Lawson could recognize her at a glance due to their years of familiarity.

Vera Yates pushed the coffee she had ordered for him earlier, to which the latter politely nodded.

"I heard that tonight you’ll be giving the final presentation of your plan to the HR Group. Whether it succeeds hinges on tonight."

The man paused, unexpected that Vera Yates knew about the company’s internal affairs.

It seems Landon Lawson must have told Vera Yates, after all, she’s going to be the company boss’s wife eventually.

"How are the preparations going? Stephen previously mentioned this business is crucial; it must succeed without fail,"

"Miss Vance, we’ll do our best."

Vera Yates’s lips slowly curled up, her gaze teasingly fixed on the man before her, "Mere effort won’t cut it; what’s needed is victory."

The man felt a bit troubled; while the Lawson Group’s employees’ professionalism and work state were consistently excellent, it couldn’t guarantee any business’s success is one hundred percent.

"This time, the newly appointed President Quinn at Yates Group is very capable; even dealing with him is somewhat challenging. For tonight’s collaboration plan, there’s only a fifty-fifty chance."

Listening to the man’s assessment of Sienna Quinn, his brows gradually darkened. Could Sienna Quinn really be that impressive? Not just good looks? Her delicate little fists clenched tightly beneath the table.

With a shadowy smile, Vera Yates opened the bag beside her, took out a document, and pushed it in front of the man.

"If you knew the opposing team’s plan, could you win?"

"Knowing the plan..."

The man, while opening the document Vera Yates handed over, murmured, but his previously calm pupils suddenly contracted, gripping the document tighter.

"That’s right, this is the Yates Group’s design plan for tonight."

Vera Yates’s lips bore a disdainful smile, ruthless yet poisonous.
