Chapter 124: Chapter 124
"Why do you think everyone is so bad? Vera is not the kind of person you think she is." Landon Lawson’s face turned completely black, and the woman in his arms was sobbing softly.
Sienna Quinn curled her lips, shrugged her shoulders, and picked up Evan Quinn, "Looks like your daddy doesn’t have time to deal with us." Saying this, she hugged him and walked towards the door.
Landon Lawson squinted his eyes, was Sienna Quinn angry? For some reason, there was a hint of joy in his heart; seeing her angry was rare. Since Sienna returned to the country, she had been indifferent towards him, never caring, with a cold gaze that he disliked.
"Wait for me in the car downstairs!"
Landon Lawson suddenly spoke to Sienna Quinn.
Evan Quinn lay adorably in Sienna’s arms, looking up at her.
Sienna paused for a moment, then smiled back enchantingly, directing this smile at Vera Yates, who had gone to great lengths to win Landon Lawson.
"Alright, my son and I will wait for you in the car."
Landon Lawson’s heart trembled; these words really sounded like a wife and child waiting for their husband to come home, making him feel quite comfortable.
Vera Yates glared intensely at the pair, her face darkened with hatred. It wasn’t until Sienna led Evan out that her expression slightly softened.
Landon Lawson looked at her with some concern. Although Sienna said she wasn’t as weak as she appeared, having known each other for many years, he was sure Sienna only said that out of dislike for Vera.
"Don’t mind what Sienna said."
The woman’s gaze was full of tenderness, the gloom momentarily vanished: "I’ve known Sienna for so many years, how could I not understand her? Even though five years have changed her a lot, she’s still my bestie."
Vera Yates dug her nails into her flesh, forcing a smile; Landon actually spoke well of Sienna? Was he already treating her like his own?
"As long as you’re not mad at her. Even I’ve often been provoked by her since she returned!" Landon Lawson smiled wryly, shaking his head; Sienna challenged him more than Vera did.
Watching Landon Lawson’s delight, there was no sign of anger.
"Stephen, it seems like you have a great relationship with Sienna." Vera Yates said with her head lowered.
Landon Lawson paused for a moment, a trace of amusement in his eyes, "Not as bothered as before."
Vera Yates’s pupils contracted; wasn’t he interested in Lana Lamb? How long had it been? And Lana already had him under her thumb?
"Wait a moment... are you leaving?" Vera Yates’s voice lowered. She wouldn’t let him leave today; she wanted to show Sienna that Landon Lawson’s heart prioritized her.
With a glimmer of hope in her eyes, she looked at Landon. For five years, she had been tirelessly trying to win him back. But Landon always treated her distantly, never overstepping; their closeness was only to this extent.
Vera Yates had contemplated taking things further several times, but Landon always stopped her. Their respectful relationship made her patient; capturing Landon was just a matter of time.
But now things were different. Sienna had returned, and she had brought with her the most formidable secret weapon—the child.
The situation no longer allowed her to remain passive; perhaps the methods used five years ago could be reused.
Landon nodded, "I promised them I’d take them home."
Disappointment flashed in the woman’s eyes; she was still lying in a hospital bed, and Landon was willing to abandon her for them. Did she really mean nothing to him?
If it were five years ago, how could Landon have left her?
Vera Yates’s beautiful eyes squinted into a line; it wasn’t about her lack of importance in his heart; it was Sienna’s overwhelming presence—it couldn’t be matched.
This couldn’t continue; she wouldn’t let Landon Lawson become Sienna’s man. Absolutely not!
Landon Lawson, faced with those disappointed eyes, felt a pang of reluctance, but remembering his promise to the woman and child, he said apologetically, "The assistant will arrive shortly; I’ve already contacted her."
"Stephen, can’t you stay? I’m really scared."
The woman’s small hand suddenly gripped the man’s clothes tightly, her body trembling incessantly; the fear and terror in her eyes weren’t deceptive; her pretty face was filled with panic.
The two remained at a standoff for a minute or two, and finally, Landon nodded, "Alright, I’ll have Nolan Shaw take them home."
"Stephen, you’re the best." Vera Yates snuggled into the man’s arms, and her trembling gradually subsided.
The man’s brows furrowed slightly, but he had no other choice. Vera Yates was frightened; how could he leave? He must protect her no matter what.
Evan sat obediently in the car and pouted toward Sienna, saying, "Mommy, you’re really letting daddy stay there by himself; aren’t you afraid daddy will be taken away?"
"He has eyes yet cannot see, it’s hopeless."
Sienna’s tone carried envy, which even she didn’t realize; she had already started feeling jealous.
She had made herself clear, but Landon Lawson was still foolishly unbelieving. No matter what Vera Yates said, Landon believed her unconditionally—just like five years ago, and still the case now.
In recent days, Landon’s actions had given her the illusion that he had changed, but today she realized he remained blind as ever.
Evan watched his obviously concerned mommy, pouting his cute little mouth; those in love, no matter how smart, become blind.
Squeak! The car door opened.
Sienna and Evan turned to see the door opener, and Evan, initially excited, furrowed his cute brows when he saw it was Nolan Shaw.

Nolan saw the tender little child, then looked at Sienna sitting in the back, awkwardly saying, "Landon called me and asked me to take President Quinn home; he has something to handle."
Sienna snorted coldly, handling affairs? "Probably staying at the hospital for a nightly rendezvous!"
Sienna didn’t know why she was suddenly filled with anger; Landon clearly said he’d take her and Evan home. How could he go back on his promise?
In his heart, Vera had always been the most important.
She thought he cared about Evan, but compared to his woman, even his son couldn’t take priority.
Nolan awkwardly coughed and hesitated several times, "President Lawson and Miss Vance’s relationship... isn’t what you think, President Quinn!"
