Chapter 142: Chapter 142

A large fist landed on Fahm’s shoulder and chest and sent him flying.

He crashed into one of the walls and slightly cracked and dented it then fell down face first. All the bones in his body had cracked or broken and he was in so much excruciating pain that he wished he was dead and his wish was about to become a reality. He felt someone grab him by his hair and lift him up. What he was looking at didn’t have any phyisal features, just a humanoid shadow with immense strength.

[Why did you attack me when I only wanted to talk?] asked the shadow in the voice that was very familiar to Fahm, it was the voice of the goblin. Fahm wanted to say it was a misunderstanding but he couldn’t even speak and could only groan.

[Since you don’t want to talk, d-]

"What’s going on here?" someone asked and when Leafy heard Evan’s voice, he stopped what he was about to do and dropped Fahm on the ground, inflicting more pain on his already painful situation.

[Boss, I came here to talk to him but attacked me from out of the blue. I didn’t provoke him or anything like that but he attacked me with intent to kill.] replied Leafy.

"You look familiar, have we met before?" asked Evan as felt a familiar aura from this cloaked man.

"Remove his hoodie, I want to see what he looks like." said Evan and Leafy removed the man’s hoodie, revealing the man’s appearance.

"Mr Fahm, so it’s you. Leafy, carry him back to the cave, I know this man." said Evan and disappeared into thin air.

[Damn you, count yourself lucky this time!] said Leafy in annoyance and carried Fahm like a potato sack and reached the cave in less than a minute. He’d also returned to his original appearance, dark green skin, ominous aura and extremely ugly looking.

Inside the cave, the abundant Mana helped Fahm recover quicker. He was no longer in agonising pain and could even speak.

"Young Master Evan, thank you so much for helping me. I owe you a huge favour for your assistance. My life is practically yours now, haha." said Fahm in a jokingly and flattery manner.

"It’s good that you think that way because I don’t run a charity case. You attacked my Follower for no reason and when you lost the fight, I had to step in to save your life. Tell me, what should you give me in exchange for your life? Now be very careful how you answer because it might just be the last words you’ll speak." said Evan without looking at Evan.

Fahm wanted to ask what Evan was implying but didn’t dare to do so. For some reason, he felt there was something behind him, patiently waiting for him to give the wrong answer then kill and devour him. Now able to move his head, Fahm turned his head to the two humans meditating beside him for help but Jersse ignored him. Adam was the one who kept signalling with his eyes but Fahm didn’t understand what he was saying.

Fahm is an educated man and had read many books about philosophy and life. He carefully analysed Evan’s statement to the best of his abilities to try and understand what this man wanted from him.

’In exchange for my life, what should I give him? Does he want money, no, he’s wealthier than I am. Does he want my treasures and secrets...probably not. Damn it, I wouldn’t need saving and I wouldn’t be in this situation if it weren’t for your god damn ugly Follower! Wait a minute, that’s it! Loyalty! He wants me to be his Follower! So that’s what the boy was hinting at but...am I willing to give up my freedom and serve this brat?!’ thought Fahm but he already had an answer in his heart.

Fahm absolutely didn’t want to be Evan’s Follower but he also didn’t want to die. He didn’t sacrifice everything he had just die when the journey had just begun. Fahm then thought back to Zixin’s words. These words were like a guiding light in his dark path, showing him the way, making sure he doesn’t get lost and leading him to the light. They had become his motto every time he was about to take a drastic decision.

When you choose to complicate things, complicate them to the extreme!

Since he’d gone down this rabid hole, he might as well continue downwards and see where it ends or where it leads. There was no turning back for him. Follow current novels on 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝✦𝘧𝙞𝙧𝙚✦𝕟𝕖𝕥

"I, Fahma Lessid, pledge allegiance to Evan Wulliz. I will serve from this life, the next and all for all eternity. I will be his loyal Follower who will give up his life for his. If I renege on my Oath then my path of power shall hence forth be severed, my Mana Heart destroyed and I will remain a mortal and live a mortal life for eternity. Let the Nilrem World be my witness and mete out the punishment when that time ever arrives." Fahm made a solemn oath and whatever presence he felt behind him disappeared in disappointment.

"Mr Fahm, you’ve made the best decision in your life. If someday, no, when I reach the peak of the Wizard Stage, I will free you if that is your wish at that time. The only reason I’m gathering followers is that many powerful beings keep saying it’s lonely at the top but if you’re all with me, I won’t be lonely, hahaha! I really am a genius."

Fahm only smiled and didn’t say anything. In his mind, he wondered if it was truly a correct decision to follow such an arrogant master. There were probably many life threatening situations that they’d have to overcome in order to reach the top. While Fahm was having doubts about his decision, Leafy, Adam and Jersse looked at Evan like they were looking at a mighty hero.

’Gathering Followers so that he wouldn’t be lonely at the top.’ Only a mighty hero could say such arrogant words and right now, they absolutely looked up to Evan and swore in their hearts to reach the top with him so that he wouldn’t be bored.
