Chapter 1999: Chapter 1999

This was a long-lost sense of timidity, leaving him unsure whether to continue.

He feared that when their eyes met, there wouldn’t be the imagined warmth and beauty.

Too much time had passed, and time washes away everything. He wasn’t sure if his impression of her was still vivid...

So he hesitated, staring into the abyss-like bottom of the well, while images of Chen Bieli’s gaze from every appearance flashed continuously in his mind.

She is Ning Yu’er, no wonder...

After hesitating for a while, Tang Ye ultimately chose to jump down. His body free-fell into the shaft, landing heavily on the abandoned elevator platform, causing it to twist on the spot.

Instantly, the defense system detected Tang Ye, an outsider, as red warning lights illuminated overhead, accompanied by piercing sirens trying to alert the soldiers stationed here. But it was of no use; instead, it led Tang Ye quickly to discover the alloy door!

Upon climbing up, Tang Ye kicked the door open, revealing before his eyes a very vigilant blue experimental workshop!

There were no soldiers specifically responsible for security here; only scientists in blue work uniforms hurriedly passed by or feverishly operated instruments. As soon as he appeared, everyone halted their work, a dozen pairs of eyes focusing on him simultaneously.

The scene was silent except for the sound of machines, as if they were gazing at Tang Ye, dazed, with the rapidly flickering red warning lights on the ceiling somewhat dazzling.

Tang Ye squinted his eyes; a glint of crimson flashed across his pupils. The next moment, the atmosphere on site cooled by several degrees, eliciting a shiver from many.

Though people remained motionless, shortly after, he heard a man’s sigh. Looking toward the source of the sound, he saw a scientist with a red name tag on his chest not far away. Turning to everyone, he said wearily, "Stop now."

From the looks of it, this person should be the manager among these scientists. With his command, the scientists who were busy seconds ago silently left their workstations.

The strongest presence here is a Level 6 New Human. The man knew that they were incapable of stopping Tang Ye!

Even Mayor Su Sigui had given up, why should they persist...

Thus, under Tang Ye’s gaze, all scientists lined up one after another, heading toward a corridor not far away.

Watching them leave, Tang Ye also retracted his murderous aura, sparing these individuals, and quickly turned to the giant machine at the center.

It was the second machine used to control Ning Yu’er’s movement ability, yet unlike the destroyed one, this Suppression Machine was connected to numerous extraction pipes flowing with mysterious liquids visible through transparent tubing, featuring two vessels below and above. Within the lower vessel, a curled shadow could be faintly seen, very blurry.

The upper vessel contained a liquid looking like clear water, bubbling continuously, being drawn and replenished, flowing through some special pipelines, further refined into another unknown liquid.

Picking up an abandoned lab coat from a nearby table, Tang Ye kicked off the ground and leaped up to the dome, then approached the machine, preparing to break the vessel and release the person inside. As he raised his hand, he paused for a few seconds before hardening his expression and striking his fist down!

The vessel was so fragile under his hand, it shattered the instant his hand made contact, causing the liquid inside to gush out and soak Tang Ye completely.

The liquid was somewhat viscous, its composition unknown for now, but as it flowed from the vessel, the curled silhouette within gradually became clear to Tang Ye. At first sight, he noticed the person’s delicate, fair skin, mesmerized for a moment, only to snap back and lift the person out, laying her down atop the flat dome, casually draping the lab coat over her.

The person in question had a face so pale it showed no sign of blood, the slight rise and fall of her abdomen proving she was still alive and had not succumbed.

He scrutinized her—this face resembling a stranger to him, before this moment, made it impossible for him to imagine the person he wanted to see but didn’t wish to disturb was indeed Ning Yu’er.

Glancing at her calm countenance, Tang Ye exhaled and, inwardly prepared, slowly reached for her face.

What do you intend to do?

But before his hand touched her face, her tightly shut eyes suddenly opened, revealing her beautiful gaze.

Tang Ye froze momentarily and quickly withdrew his hand.

"You..." Chen Bieli... no, it should be Ning Yu’er! The instant she opened her eyes, she naturally saw Tang Ye and paused for a moment, her expression flickering with panic, appearing and vanishing in a blink. She hid it well, but as Tang Ye focused his gaze on her face, unfortunately, he caught her changing expression. For origınal chapters go to 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝✶𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖✶𝕟𝕖𝕥

"So it was you..." Ning Yu’er looked around; the scientists previously present had all evacuated, unclear where they went.

"Do you understand the consequences of rescuing me? It seems there’s no advantage for you?"

She questioned Tang Ye. Undeniably, her act was superb, but unfortunately, Tang Ye already knew her identity. He gazed at her face, deliberated for a while, and said, "You don’t have to pretend. We’ve known each other long, haven’t we?"

"..." Ning Yu’er froze, locking eyes with Tang Ye. Her eyes filled with haze, she stopped speaking, sat up, glancing at the lab coat draped over her, tightened it, and rested her head on her knees. She turned her face to the side, unsure if intentional, leaving Tang Ye unable to discern her present expression.

"Don’t you feel awkward?" she mumbled with a touch of complaint. But strangely, upon her saying this, Tang Ye’s initial embarrassment dissipated, replaced only by a slight sense of unease.

"Since parting in Lin City, how many times have we met?" he asked, yet she remained silent.

After waiting a bit and seeing she was unresponsive, Tang Ye frowned, moved to another side, and there she was, asleep, breathing heavily, her pallid complexion eliciting sympathy, witnessing that her experience within the vessel wasn’t pleasant.

Her physical state had reached its worst, requiring rest. For now, Tang Ye didn’t want to wake her. With a deep sigh, he lifted her gently and walked out.
