Chapter 1947: Chapter 1947
The massive sensory wave enveloped the Cloud Gorge Base for only a few seconds before receding like a tide back to its source.
Meanwhile, several black dots in the sky rapidly swooped down toward that inconspicuous residential building, traversing through the spiral "Sky Continent," leaving behind long, conspicuous white lines in the air!
A broadcast crackled with some jarring noise in his ears, and before long, a man’s serious voice came through.
[All combat units, please take note. Gather promptly in front of the City Government Building within ten minutes. I’ll repeat, within ten minutes, all combat units, quickly gather at the City Government Building!]
Suddenly, the soldiers nearby, tasked with evacuating the crowd, became intensely busy, no longer focusing on the throng of people in front of them. Each soldier swiftly ran toward the ladders, and with their departure, the previously obedient crowd quickly descended into chaos. Before long, many were engaged in violent clashes, with blood spilling freely.
The few black dots plummeting from the sky descended swiftly, soon reaching a hundred meters altitude. Tang Ye clearly saw their details; they were several mutant creatures, with tentacles encasing their bodies, crashing like missiles toward the target building.
Meanwhile, the Sirius Star Observation Cannon positioned near the residents had already fully charged. In that instant, a buzzing sound emerged, followed by terrifying sonic waves radiating from the building at the epicenter toward the surroundings!
In the distance, people still shoving those in front one moment found themselves flung against walls by the sonic waves the next. Those fortunate enough to have someone blocking in front escaped harm, while the unfortunate ones smashed against walls, bodies instantly shattered!
Blood sprayed like ink!
Tang Ye raised his arm, catching a glimpse of several terrifying laser beams bombarding the residential building in his peripheral vision, even before those mutant creatures from the sky hit the ground.
The intense heat melted everything in an instant, as the building transformed into various particles, drifting in the air.
Su Sigui was well-prepared; all this took the mutant creatures by surprise as they smashed into the laser-surrounded epicenter. Despite having armor covering their bodies, the Sirius Star Observation Cannon could slay Level 8-tier entities. Those that landed had no time for their next move before being torn to shreds by the lasers!
The brilliance of that moment even surpassed the glow emanating from the Zombie King Camutos in the south. Though Tang Ye felt nothing personally, the light was too blinding for him to bear.
Wave after wave of shockwaves reverberated, soon leveling the surrounding buildings into flat land!
Tang Ye turned away, lifting his gaze again to see more black dots appearing on the horizon, numbering possibly over twenty. But they hesitated to proceed further, having witnessed the Sirius Star Observation Cannon obliterate their target building, and the scouting compatriots being shredded in an instant. They realized they had been deceived, along with their own king!
But it was too late to flee now. The "Sky Continent" hovering above the Cloud Gorge Base began to unfurl layer by layer, and a dazzling beam emerged from the building representing the City Government, piercing the sky and seemingly connecting heaven and earth. It then divided into dozens of parts, cascading toward the endless anti-zombie walls!
The recently-entered mutant creatures hadn’t had a chance to turn when a blue light shield enveloped the entire Cloud Gorge Base, sealing off their escape. From afar, people heard their roars but were bewildered. The defensive shield blocked the zombies’ path, yet also sealed their exit. They could only gaze dumbly with upturned heads.
"Can it withstand this?" Tang Ye frowned while observing the scene above, skeptical about the shield’s quality. And just as he expected, as the enraged mutant creatures smashed their weaponized arms against the shield, the light shield cloaking the skies shattered instantly!
The ease was startling, leaving the mutant creatures somewhat stunned. But the next second, another beam emerged from the "Sky Continent" center, the City Government Building, racing skyward and splitting again, descending. The shield reappeared, enclosing Cloud Gorge Base once more, different now with its red color.
The sturdiness far exceeded the previous blue shield!
Over twenty mutant creatures struck wildly, with the raised storm wreaking havoc below, decimating structures and leaving a desolate sight. In less than a minute, countless fell to unforeseen deaths, bodies scattered everywhere.
The people below grew apprehensive; the damage potential of Level 8 was no joke. If they were caught in the conflict, the consequences would be dire. They rushed frantically toward Cloud Gorge Base for survival!
People understood this well, knowing that whenever such high-level combat ensued, ordinary folk fled as far as possible, never daring to spectate!
Despite their urgency, the airborne mutant creatures grew impatient as their energy waned. Among them, some began descending to the ground, with numerous Level 8 New Humans clad in A-level exoskeleton battle suits approaching fast. When the two sides clashed, terrifying forces collided, causing the earth to fracture instantaneously, with storms ripping surrounding structures apart and hurling them skyward! An immense shadow cast over the crowd below, crashing down, blood and swirling dust mingling in a dance!
Tang Ye glanced toward Su Sigui’s location.
"Lure them into the trap," using the whole Cloud Gorge Base as the "trap," but such devastation isn’t for play. Su Sigui wasn’t bluffing; she genuinely intended to go all out with those Zombie Kings, sacrificing whatever it took!
Even sacrificing Cloud Gorge Base!
Would Tang Ye do the same if it were him to decide?
Amid various thoughts flashing through his mind, distant new humans clashed with those mutant creatures, while Tang Ye assumed Su Sigui would abstain from action. She emerged from the ruins, gave the soldiers beside her a few instructions, then glanced at Tang Ye. She waved her sinister longsword of flesh and blood in thanks, before leaping and rushing toward a distant tall building.
Her appearance quickly drew countless eyes, with one completely twisted mutant creature on the battlefield casting an eerie gaze at Su Sigui, sensing her presence despite the dozens of kilometer distance.
Simultaneously, a foreign young man amidst the dense zombie tide smirked furiously.
