Chapter 1943: Chapter 1943

Suddenly, Ryle reached out and grabbed the man’s neck, easily lifting him into the air.

"Feel it," he whispered to the man, and then gradually tightened his grip. Soon, the man started bleeding from his orifices, yet he didn’t struggle. Just before he died, he pulled out a glass vial about the length of an adult’s little finger from his pocket and pressed a discreet switch on it!

In an instant, a pale orange mist filled the entire factory. Hidden radiated species in the darkness let out heart-wrenching screams. With a dull thud, the man’s body fell to the ground, his neck a bloody mess!

Amidst the mist, Ryle’s previously neat attire was in tatters, and the flesh of his hands fell off in chunks, turning into a large puddle of inorganic substance on the ground!

Swollen blisters appeared on his face, then burst, oozing pus onto the ground with a nauseating stench. His originally handsome face turned hideously ugly, entirely unrecognizable.

Ryle could feel the slight pain emanating from his body, along with the frantic depletion of vital energy within!

He didn’t know how long had passed, but as the orange mist dissipated, the flesh on his body began to wriggle, his torn clothes were mended by the reassembled flesh, and his facial features returned to their previous state. However, his complexion was extremely grim and sullen!

Suddenly, he grabbed a nearby Level 8 follower, his fingers curling into claws, and with a crack, broke open the brain of the radiated species. His arm dove down, black liquid gushing uncontrollably, and in no time, he had killed a Level 8 radiated species, extracting its Evolution Crystal and devouring it!

Since arriving in China, he hadn’t been on a killing spree, conserving as much vitality as he could. Just a second before the man arrived, his vitality was only about thirty to forty percent. When the mist erupted, the original thirty to forty percent dwindled instantly to merely twenty percent!

This forced him to kill his followers to replenish his vitality!

To keep himself functional!

After consuming the Evolution Crystal from his follower, Ryle grabbed another and repeated the process to obtain a second Evolution Crystal, stuffing it into his mouth.

Just like that, after killing three of his Level 8 followers, Ryle’s vitality barely recovered, returning to forty percent.

He said nothing and sat on a workbench, staring at the dead man’s body nearby. The man guessed right; he chose both!

Killing the man while also completing a task for him.

The orange mist that erupted just now was a wake-up call; it seemed the Cloud Gorge Base was developing some kind of weapon. The effect felt familiar, and Ryle quickly remembered it was the so-called "Spirit Rain Plan"!

But what the man had just displayed was merely a different approach! ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ 𝖓𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖑~𝖋𝖎𝖗𝖾~𝖓𝖊𝖙

Ryle only wanted to stop the Spirit Rain Plan because he feared losing too many of his followers to it, but he never thought the plan itself was of much concern.

However, now he had to take it seriously; this thing could threaten him!

The nature of things had completely changed!

At this moment, a follower’s body slid off an old machine nearby with a thud, snapping Ryle back to reality. He turned to look at a few remaining followers a short distance away, beckoning them, and one Level 8 radiated species trembled as it cautiously approached.

It mumbled strange syllables, seemingly asking Ryle for instructions, and Ryle replied in another language, "Tell those fools to stop their idiotic behavior. There isn’t much meat on mice; next, we’re going to hunt cats."

With that, the Level 8 radiated species lowered its head, though it’s unclear what it was doing.

Time flashed to noon, the sky was overcast, with occasional sunlight piercing through, yet bringing no hint of warmth. The dazzling light to the south was glaring, giving off a peculiar feeling upon distant gaze, lingering long enough made Tang Ye feel a déjà vu of the sun resting on the earth.

On the deserted streets, Tang Ye was puzzled; the surrounding building walls were plastered with conspicuous yellow signs, most bearing warnings of "Keep Away".

Even as the population of Cloud Gorge Base was being evacuated continually at this stage, with its massive population of over twenty-seven million, how could they be evacuated quickly?

Along the way, Tang Ye saw large crowds formed due to people leaving Cloud Gorge Base! But upon reaching this area, the scene abruptly changed; the buildings and streets were deserted inside and out, without a single soul, and without any catastrophic destruction here. Ordinarily, there should be someone, right?

Tang Ye was baffled, perhaps for some reason, the original inhabitants of this area were urgently evacuated.

Carrying a long box, Tang Ye proceeded until he reached an inconspicuous building and stopped. Here, he finally sensed human presence, though few in number, about three inside the building, but an indeterminate number below the surface.

Inside, he saw a young woman with her legs propped on the front desk, playing with her phone. Tang Ye approached, placing the box on the counter while attracting her attention.

"Excuse me, may I enter?"

"Huh?" the woman playing with the phone paused. "You are... Oh, Mr. Li, yes, please wait a moment."

Upon seeing Tang Ye, the woman hurriedly put away her phone, speaking as she operated the computer in front of her. Before long, Tang Ye heard a sound of something opening; it seemed that a door was unlocked, but it was not visible from here.

"Alright, Mr. Li, please come in. Go this way and then turn right, and you’ll see it."

"Okay, thank you." Tang Ye nodded, picked up the box again, and headed in the direction the woman indicated.

Following her instructions, Tang Ye turned right and immediately saw a narrow corridor, the walls all raw cement, exposed pipes. Someone unaware would likely think it’s a dead end at first glance, but as Tang Ye walked further, he saw stairs leading down and, at the end, an elevator door.

Tang Ye didn’t enter the elevator immediately but observed the surroundings. He could sense what lay below; the space wasn’t large, about a hundred square meters, housing roughly a dozen people.

This seemed like a secret base, but something felt off, a bit farcical, yet it was so secretive. Did Su Sigui have some purpose behind this setup?
