Chapter 1902: Chapter 1902
Tang Ye pondered for a moment after hearing this; indeed, it would seem a bit monotonous by himself.
However, the final stage of the "Spirit Rain Plan" experiment wasn’t much to watch anyway, and those around him likely wouldn’t be too interested. Most of his subordinates were zombies, and the "Spirit Rain Plan" was originally created to target zombies, watching it might even create discord within his ranks.
Even if someone was interested, most of the Level 8 New Human powerhouses around Tang Ye had gone to work for Su Sigui, and the Level 8 zombies who originally came with Tang Ye to the Cloud Gorge Base, like Ah Fu and others, were partially sent back to the Royal Court to maintain public order.
The situation at the Royal Court isn’t optimistic either. After all, with more than seven million people flooding in, the pressure on maintaining public order naturally doubled, with mobs rioting everywhere. In such a situation, relying solely on the Royal Court’s internal defense force proved inadequate, but unlike the Cloud Gorge Base, Tang Ye dealt with the mob mercilessly, even going as far as to use zombie hordes to forcefully suppress them! Even so, the public order at the Royal Court has yet to return to its previous level, simply because there are too many people!
Given the situation at the Royal Court, one can only imagine how dire the situation at the Cloud Gorge Base is now?
In the face of the Four Great Zombie Kings’ invasion, even the prestige of Su Sigui, a Level 9 New Human, struggled to quell the unrest in people’s hearts!
Another part was assigned by Tang Ye to the northern wasteland cities, to participate in the effort to strengthen the silver-armored zombie hordes.
Whether influenced by people’s emotions or not, Tang Ye felt the sky above him becoming increasingly oppressive these days, gradually adding some pressure on him as time passed, bringing him closer to the day when he would battle against the other Zombie Kings. Right now, Tang Ye wished he could assimilate all the zombies in China into silver-armored zombies!
Although zombies below Level 8 and Level 8 themselves don’t have much impact on the battles between Zombie Kings, if their numbers reach a certain level, they might still have some effect,
"I’ll ask them first." Tang Ye said to the officer, whose attitude remained as respectful as before, nodding, "Okay."
Walking back, Tang Ye shouted at the entrance of the villa, "Come out, you all heard what was said earlier, right? Who wants to go?"
Once he finished speaking, Chu Zha, Hu Ji, Heiya, and Saio, all four Level 8 zombies, rushed out anxiously. He thought they wouldn’t want to go since there wasn’t much fun there, but to his surprise, they all raised their hands high, shouting, "Me, me, me."
Now, with those like Zhao Boning, who was sent to monitor Xiang Shan, Yi Huangcheng luring Xu Haishui, and Huang Quanjiu and Bai Huipeng, who returned at night to summarize information with Yi Huangcheng, no longer around, Tang Ye was left with just these four zombies.
Without others, these four didn’t dare to indulge in eating, drinking, and having fun as they did before, not knowing when Tang Ye might send them to do something.
"Alright, let’s go together!"
Tang Ye waved, indicating for them to get into the transport truck, accompanied by these four creatures who resembled normal humans. The officer didn’t linger, and after giving a command, directed the troops to leave the "Sky Continent," heading towards the Cloud Gorge Base.
Throughout the journey, this Super Sanctuary City, a point of pride for all humanity, shamelessly displayed its most chaotic side! Scenes of slaughter were everywhere, with wild cats chewing on bodies recently deceased by the roadside or swaggering by with parts of human remains, the scene was gory and frenzied!
The bloody spectacle stimulated people’s senses and nerves, evoking deep-seated primal unease!
The situation became increasingly untenable, as several Red Kite T600 main battle tanks, originally designed to counter zombie hordes, never ceased firing for even a second, launching metal storms indiscriminately at visible mobs!
Upon seeing the passing army, people would instinctively halt their ongoing violence. However, it was of no use, as Su Sigui had already ordered that during this lockdown period, anyone found acting without authorization would be deemed a mob by the army!
And the consequence of becoming a mob is to be mercilessly slaughtered by the army!
Tang Ye and his companions ignored such scenes, watching coldly and indifferently. Before the war between zombies and humans reached its conclusion, experiencing such sights was an inevitable process.
Despite its cruelty, it was merely a matter of insignificant people dying...
The chaotic scene only gradually vanished after the army entered the Headquarters of Area A of China, with people hidden inside buildings, afraid to come out. A patrol squad appeared on the streets every dozen meters or so.
The oppressive silence felt reminiscent of the early days of the Apocalypse before the Cloud Gorge Base was established. Back then, those in power would enforce curfews to quickly establish order, and come nighttime, people would behave much like they did now.
"This is such a familiar feeling." The officer sitting in front suddenly sighed, drawing curious glances from Tang Ye and Hu Ji.
Realizing his unintended comment, the officer quickly turned back, showing Tang Ye and the others an awkward smile.
"Sorry, Mr. Li, I got carried away."
"It’s alright, go on." Tang Ye raised his head slightly, looking unconcerned. However, his words only heightened the officer’s awkwardness, and with an apologetic smile, he turned back around, remaining silent, looking outside. Ten years ago, he wasn’t even a Level 6 New Human, nor a Level 1 New Human; he was just an ordinary person!
It was a night shortly after the curfew had been imposed when he, his wife, and their fifteen-year-old son killed a neighbor trying to steal their food, securing that food for themselves - his and his family’s first kill in the post-apocalypse, an event he could never forget.
He also couldn’t forget his wife’s pale face, his son’s terrified expression, and... the anxious sound of his own heartbeat.
That time, his family envisioned how long they could survive with the newly acquired food, enjoying a brief moment of joy after their gain.
Even though he thought things couldn’t get worse back then, compared to now, thinking about how his loved ones either perished to zombie hordes or fell to other people’s cruelty, he finds himself alone, with no one to share in his joy. Looking back at what once seemed his worst moments, they felt beautiful, almost as if they weren’t part of his own life.
