Chapter 285: Chapter 285

"Actually, what I wanted to say is, there is still one feature missing from this RV, and Mr. Qian has also prepared a surprise for you regarding this feature. With his help, this RV will become even more perfect. I hope you will like the gift he gives you; rest assured, we use only the best."

After Da Shi left, Jing Shu eventually learned that Da Shi was a scientific researcher from Boss Su’s conglomerate.

Are young people these days all this incredible? Scientists and professors getting into car modification? Jing Shu was also a bit curious. What could Qian Duoduo have prepared for her? The RV already seemed perfect; what function could it possibly lack?

After Da Shi left, Jing Shu began to examine other areas according to Chu Zhuohua’s instruction manual. Seriously, what terrible service; he didn’t even come over to explain.

But Jing Shu still figured it out by herself. The German MAN was already a type of luxury vehicle, and on this basis, Chu Zhuohua had added many more practical and luxurious elements.

The main driver’s cabin in the RV featured some added central controls and new touch panels. The original co-pilot seat had been removed entirely. The area behind the former co-pilot seat, which initially had a circular sofa, was also cleared to create a passage. An invisible 0.8 by 1.8-meter foldable bed was installed along this passage, ready to be pulled out for use.

When Jing Shu pulled out the bed, a small tent also popped up, providing ample private space, although it would block the passage. This bed was prepared for Third Aunt Jing Lai.

Behind the main driver’s cabin of the RV was the living room, equipped with a liftable table and chairs, and a 32-inch TV. This area had now been converted into an enclosed tatami room. Although it was only 1.6 by 2 meters, it was still spacious and located right next to the single bed in the passage.

This bedroom was intended for Grandma Jing and Mr. Jing, with Third Aunt next door. If the elderly couple had any issues, it would be convenient to call for Third Aunt. Besides, there was no other place to fit an additional bed. The most update n0vels are published on 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⁂𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢⁂𝔫𝔢𝔱

Jing Shu opened the bedroom door and knocked on the wall; it was made of lightweight steel for insulation and soundproofing. She took off her shoes and stepped onto the soft tatami mat, which was at a comfortable height, preventing difficulty in standing up due to being too low. In the middle was a lift-up storage cabinet, allowing the elderly couple to lounge as if on a sofa and watch TV dramas or listen to Peking opera, which Mr. Jing enjoyed, when they were not sleeping.

To the right was overhead storage, and a folding table had been added. The space above was originally planned for a bed for Wu You’ai but was now redesigned as a luggage rack. This was good, as there would definitely be a lot to carry when the time came, so having extra space for clothes and bedding was beneficial.

This constituted the front half of the RV. The main RV door effectively divided the vehicle into two sections. Upon entering and turning right, one found a shoe cabinet, overhead storage, and control systems for features like the air conditioning. Continuing further right led to the modified passage and the bedroom designated for Mr. Jing and Grandma Jing. The path at the far right led directly to the main driver’s cabin, and in the upper right corner of this area, a cylindrical single-person elevator provided direct access to the second floor.

Turning left from the RV door led to the kitchen area. The German MAN originally came with top-of-the-line kitchen appliances, including an electric ceramic hob, an exhaust hood, a sink, a fridge, and a full set of cabinets and drawers. Indulgently, Jing Shu had also added a Fotile dishwasher sink unit, salvaged earlier, and equipment such as an ultrafiltration water purifier. Drinking water during the apocalypse must be tended to with great care, as parasites are abundant!

Speaking of parasites, Jing Shu recently recalled some past events. It seemed the infections originated from deep-sea marine life displaced by tectonic movements. The ocean overlords were not greatly affected since the temperatures at the seafloor were also very low. When these creatures were suddenly transported inland, the consequences were predictable...

Jing Shu shook her head. Never mind, these events won’t happen for another year or two; worrying about them now is premature. It seemed she had to prepare not only for the parasitic threat but also for these creatures.

Back to the RV, the natural gas system was connected to twelve external tanks. Of course, the most crucial feature was the 24-hour hot water circulation system. This ensured that even in the coldest winters, hot water would be instantly available from any tap or the shower. Regardless of whether it was the apocalypse or not, having hot water in winter was the greatest happiness.

To avoid wasting energy, Jing Shu also added a set of underfloor heating pipes and a hot water tank, and had water pipes running through the walls as well. These constant-temperature water pipes were best for maintaining a warm temperature inside the RV.

Prolonged use of the central air conditioning would dry out one’s skin. Every time Jing Shu used it, her throat would feel terribly dry and sore, a very unpleasant sensation. Therefore, underfloor heating was indeed the best replacement; it wasn’t power-hungry and conserved energy. The underfloor heating only needed to be brought up to 40 degrees initially; afterward, only a minimal amount of natural gas was required to maintain this warmth.

Jing Shu was determined to overcome these issues. She hated shivering for hours waiting for the bed to warm up, unable to sleep. Once in bed, she’d rather hold it in than go to the bathroom. Only when she absolutely couldn’t bear it anymore would she dash to the toilet. Then came the despair of returning to a bed that was frozen stiff again, only to realize she’d forgotten to turn off the light.

She envied those who, in the apocalyptic weather of minus seventy degrees, could lounge in their RVs wearing long johns and eating ice cream.

Gently caressing the instant hot water system, Jing Shu knew that in this life, she could achieve this too!

The kitchen area, the bathroom with its separated wet and dry zones, and the dining area remained largely unchanged at the very rear, as did Mr. and Mrs. Jing’s double master bedroom. Chu Zhuohua had simply renovated them.

Ascending the Amordillo five-step automatic aluminum alloy staircase, she arrived at the second level, where the changes were most significant.

The original hydraulically lifting rooftop terrace had been transformed into an enclosed second story. The rear part of the vehicle, which used to house the solar panels, had been entirely dismantled, with the panels reinstalled on the roof of the second floor.

The front of the second floor was Jing Shu’s bedroom.

Behind the bedroom was a living area, which would eventually house all the family’s luggage and supplies. Currently, the supplies for Jingshu’s house were all managed by Jing Shu. Everyone was accustomed to this arrangement, and it gave Jing Shu a sense of security.

Further back was the RV’s original small basin, which Jing Shu had asked Chu Zhuohua to convert into a deep, high-sided basin. She was planning to openly raise fish there, enclosed, of course, in tempered glass.

As per Jing Shu’s request, the middle section housed the space capsule Wu You’ai had been dreaming of, which Chu Zhuohua had already secured for her. Jing Shu, caressing the white space capsule, felt it had a very high-tech vibe.

The advanced feature of the space capsule was its ability to be raised and lowered. One simply had to lean against it, and it would slowly transition from a vertical to a horizontal position. Its height could be adjusted as needed, and it could even transform into a sofa chair.

When closed, the space capsule didn’t feel cramped, measuring approximately 1.2 by 2 meters. It was equipped with built-in air conditioning, and inside, a 20-inch TV was snugly fitted. On the left side was a recessed cabinet with a gyroscopic stabilizer, ensuring that items placed inside remained stable and upright, regardless of whether the capsule was vertical or horizontal.

On the right side was a table, utilizing the same stabilizing principle. There was also a mini-fridge and a small electric kettle, all seemingly added by Chu Zhuohua. Perhaps he wanted Wu You’ai to drink more hot water? Huh? Nowadays, telling a girl to "drink more hot water" would probably get you beaten to death, right?

Though small, the space capsule was fully equipped; it indeed felt very safe inside. With Wu You’ai’s temperament, lying inside watching anime, browsing comics on her phone, and having snacks at her side, she could probably happily stay holed up in there forever.

Jing Shu inexplicably liked this kind of space capsule.
