Kathleen paced the house waiting for Derek's return, she felt tensed and wondered if he also blamed her for what had happened, did he also think she would harm Kyle on purpose? She heard the door open as he came in, his gaze flickered to her but didn't say a word to her, "Derek, I didn't do it on purpose, please believe me"

He made no response as he pulled his clothes and hit the shower, he was so exhausted as he hadn't had a moment of rest, after a busy day in the office, he had come back home to meet the incident at home and without even stopping to change, had rushed Kyle to the hospital and had stayed with him for quite some time, it was almost midnight and his head aches, he needed a good sleep. Feeling a little bit better after the shower, he dried off and stepped out, he almost ran into Kathleen who was standing by the door, looking so worried.

"Do you also think I hurt Kyle on purpose?" She launched as soon as he stepped out

"What is done is done Kath, what I think doesn't matter" he grumbled walking towards the bed

"I've decided to gift Kyle one of the Deloux extensions, henceforth, they would be staying there".

"You're scared I would try to hurt him again, that's why you made such a decision, isn't it?"

"I feel it's better that way"

"Derek....." She began but the ringing of her phone cuts her off, she frowned at the unknown number, who couldn't be calling her at such an hour

"Hello"

"You're such an unfaithful daughter aren't you?" Her father's cold voice reached her ears and she felt the chill down her spine, why was he calling?

"You left home and married that billionaire, don't you think you have an obligation to us your family? Most especially I, your father"

"What do you mean?" She managed to gasp out and he laughed cruelly

"What do think I meant? I've run out of cash taking care of you for years and currently your mother, I need money"

Kathleen quickly ended the call her turned off her phone, her palms sweaty and her heart beating so fast, Derek observed her agitation and grimaced, "who was that?"

She jumped at his question, "no one important, I think it's a wrong number".

It was obvious that she was lying but he didn't push it, he decided to allow her to tell him at her convenience, he rolled back the blanket and promptly fell asleep.

Kathleen couldn't sleep as she kept replaying her father's words in her head, she had cut ties from them in her heart the day she ran away, now he had called, demanding for money, she had quickly ended the call not wanting Derek to know about it. Her mind wandered to everything that has happened and she thought of Kyle, she wondered what he was doing and hope he's okay, she felt sad as her eyes drifted close.

She woke up to see the side of Derek's bed cold, he had left quite early, and even without bidding her goodbye, her heart aches as she felt the drift between the both of them yet unable to stop it, she would not allow Derek to be taken from her, she quickly switched on her phone to give him a call, several messages popped up on her screen as soon as she switched it on, they were all from her dad, venting his anger that she dared to switch off her phone the previous night, another held threat that he would reach out to her husband and ask him for money should she refuse to comply, her heart skidded at that threat, she would be so embarrassed if he does that and knowing her dad, she knew it wasn't just an ordinary threat, he just might carry it out. She immediately dialed his number and he picked on the second ring, "I see you've gotten my message, how dare you act high and mighty towards me"

"How much do you want?" Kathleen asked ignoring his rant

"That's more like it" she could hear the smile in his voice as he said it, "just a small amount of money, I want only ten thousand dollars"

Kathleen felt irked, he was demanding a whole lot of ten thousand dollars from her

and he was referring to it as a small amount

"If it's that small, you would have it and not begged for it" she snapped

"Hey, I wasn't begging, only demanding for my dues" his voice didn't sound a bit remorseful and she heaved, "fine, you'll get your dues and you'll get it in full"

He chuckled, "that's more like it baby doll"

Kathleen hung up and fell back on the bed, the only money she had on her was eleven thousand dollars, Derek hadn't deposited money into her account as he usually does, perhaps, he had been so focused on Kyle that it had slipped his mind, "Kyle" she had to pay him a visit to ascertain he was okay, even if she would risk getting her head chopped off by Nicole.

Nicole just stepped out of Kyle's hospital room when she sighted Kathleen coming towards the room, her face twisted in an ugly frown, what was she doing here? Derek was inside alone with Kyle, the doctor had told them they can be discharged soonest and Derek was just waiting to sign some papers before he could take them home, a thought formed in her mind and she smiled wickedly, she quickly went back inside, Kyle was lying on the bed with Derek beside him, she walked close and pretended to trip as her feet hit the bedpost, "ouch, it hurts" she cried falling on Derek who had quickly caught her to avoid her falling on Kyle.

"Be careful, will you" Derek grimaced as he tried to steady her, she wrapped her arms around his neck and sat on his thighs, raising her feet as if to check how much injury she had sustained, from the corner of her eyes, she saw Kathleen standing frozen by the door, she quickly diverted Derek's attention to her, "help me massage it a little please" she gasped as if in pain, grabbing his hand, she took it to her feet and she moaned like a woman in great pleasure, she smirked inwardly as she watched Kathleen turned on her heels, she had calculated right, she knew the bitch wouldn't have the nerve to come in after seeing she and Derek.

"I feel much better now, your hands are magical" she crooned

"Can you now get off me?" Derek demanded coolly and she smiled, she didn't mind at all, her objective has been carried out.

"I'll go sign those papers now so we can leave here" he stood up as soon as she was up and went out.

Derek thought she saw Kathleen leaving the hospital but at a second glance, he didn't see her again, had she come to the hospital? He shook his head, impossible, perhaps he was seeing things, what would she be doing here at the hospital? He quickly signed the papers and went back to take Nicole and Kyle home.
