Chapter 2: Chapter 2
My name is Lisa Lopez, the eldest daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Williams and Divina Lopez, the sister to Anna Lopez.
We're both twin sisters but not identical, she was my everything and I was willing to do anything just for her happiness and safety.
Anna was very conservative, humble, intelligent, and beautiful, as well as quiet, she never did anything against the wishes of mom and dad whereas me, I was the total opposite of my sister, you can say I was stubborn, strong-headed, hit-tempered, but it only comes whenever I am angry.
My parents will always warn me to get a hold of my temper, but I figured mom and dad were just acting as all parents do.
On a faithful day, a couple with a young man by their side came home, and I thought maybe they had some unfinished business with dad so I left without saying a word to them.
But unknowingly to me, they came to ask for one of the daughter's hands in marriage.
Dad thought it was me but got the shock of his life when he heard they came for my younger sister.
Dad and mom refused to accept the offer because according to the laws of my family, the eldest daughters are supposed to get married before the younger ones.
They tried talking to them but they were headstrong on what they wanted, so dad told them to come back in two days for feedback.
Anna overheard everything and declined it too, according to my parents they guessed I was the reason but honestly I wasn't, who knew my sister was also holding secrets too.
A few hours later, I returned home late and tried sneaking in, "where are you coming from?" Dad's words pins me to a spot, "father! Good evening" I wore a sly smile on, "come sit with me!!" He gestured as I ambled towards the couch.
"What's up dad!!" I swirled my eyes to him, " what is up? I'll tell you!!" He alters back to me.
(Inaudible conversation). Seconds later.
"It's okay dad, I will get married when the time comes!!" I affirm out yet he returns his words with a statement," When will that be", dad asked pinning a worried expression on his face, yet I assured him I would only get married whenever I see a man worthy of me, as I left him in a tensed mood.
I got into the room and saw Anna fast asleep, I sat down on the bed contemplating what dad said to me, I kept on mumbling to myself it wasn't my fault that no man was competent of me, likewise being scared wasn't my fault either, it was just because of my firing nature, men didn't want a lady of my kind.
Thus I went off to change into my nightwear and came back to see Anna glaring at the window.
I called her out, thus she turned to me trying to force a smile, so I asked "what is the problem, are you okay?".
My sister gazed at me with her eyes all tearing up. I implored her to talk, dragging her to the bed, "what is up?" I copied back my words.
"What will I do?" Anna raised a question with her hands shaking out of fear, "please tell me!!" I asked once more.
She sniffed deeply and then revealed to me that the guy who came by this morning, wasn't just a mare stranger, he was her ex, she dated back in college.
I was shocked at what I heard because I didn't picture my sister, like someone that was in a relationship and couldn't even imagine my sister had a boyfriend when all she knew was just her books and nothing else.
She also told me how he abused her, emotionally blackmail her, and dating him was the worst mistake of her life.
Furthermore, she told how short-tempered he was and because of that, he beat up a lecturer that failed him and got expelled from school.
I sat there and listened to what she told me, and how she feared to go through the same thing In college with him. I inquired why she never told anyone what happened and she says, I quote " I didn't know my past will return out of the blue and suprisely ask for my hands in marriage
I laugh at what she said and assured that, I wouldn't let anything happen to her, as she clutched me tightly before going back to bed.
The following day, we went down for breakfast, we were all eating quietly until mom chose to remind Anna of the suitor that came by. On hearing that, Anna coughed hard, the food she was eating refused the pass down due to the conversation, quickly I handed her a glass of water, slowly rubbing her back.
I got mom to change the topic by bringing up a new one, decerning how adverse the atmosphere was at that minute.
After eating, Anna strolled back to the room and I dashed behind her "Anna, please calm down". I said to her, as she turned her attention to me, "sis, how should I calm down?" She asked in a distressed mood. So I decided to take her out for some ice cream, after informing our parents where we were headed too.
On reaching there, we passed an area where two men were caught oppressing a young lady, I gazed at them and saw how bad they mistreated her, I couldn't take any more of the indecency, I furiously walked up to them, they were both being inquisitive about who I was, so without wasting any much time, I signed my signature on their cheeks, which made the pedestrian there stare at the drama going on.
Before they could get recall what was happening, I pulled out a huge plank that was laying on the floor, hitting them but luckily Anna pulled me out by force.
She (Anna ) gazed at me, ordering two cones of vanilla, we both sat there and then left after consuming a spoonful of ice cream.
The subsequent day, it was exactly two days passed and the same suitor came again and this time I was around and saw him face to face.
Dad welcomed them and introduced both of his daughters, We came down by the excessive calling of dad and when we saw him, Anna's heart skipped a beat, holding unto me.
Dad introduced him as" Christian Hernandez", as well as both his parents, he ambled toward us as he pulled out his hand to shake us.
Just by his facial behavior, he was so good-looking and knowing my sister wouldn't lie to me about him, it will be impossible to believe Christian was that kind of person, hence after the shaky introduction, we left allowing both families to talk
Hours went by and I wondered what they were talking about, it was already getting tiresome being in the room all day.
