Chapter 28: Chapter 28
"What?" he watched my face and narrowed his eyes, he knew I had something going on in my head.
"Are you friends with her?" I took a deep breath before asking him about Ivory, don't ask me why it was bothering me so much.
"Ivory?" The look on his face said it all, he scrunched his nose, "I have never talked to her before, she just sent me a cake in the morning, saying she turned 18, which I don't know why it matters to me." He sounded lost, he still didn't tell me what went afterward between them, and neither did I dig deep into it.
"What?" He snapped his fingers in front of my face to bring me back to reality and watched me for a response.
"Umm, nothing, have a good night." I smiled and waved my hand. I bet he waited for me until I entered the house. About Ivory, I don't think asking him such a thing was the right decision, I entered the house to be greeted by Lauren, who has been ignoring me like I was the worst kind of disease and I didn't bother her either. Besides everything that happened, today was Ivory's birthday? How come nobody decides to celebrate it?
"Next when you decide to stay late, inform us," Lauren stated, not even looking at my face. I stood at my spot and nodded. She was really upset with me even when she knew I hadn't done anything wrong. My mind couldn't agree with her not knowing my character, there was no way she didn't know how her daughter was.
"Are you still mad at me?" I asked, walking behind her silently. Consider your mother gets angry at you regarding something, you can't just leave them upset.
"No!" She answered, cleaning the table in the lounge as an excuse to not look at me.
"I know I can't prove myself right against Ivory and to be honest, I am still shocked how she lied so bluntly," My heart ached when I thought of Ivory's lies. I mean, she might have fooled the world, but God knew what the truth was. It felt like, living with her was the worst thing for me.
"It is okay; I will be fine. I just need some time to get over everything. I made a fool of myself to force you with my son." she declared and it crushed my heart instantly, but I did like him or maybe I still do. The only thing that changed was the fact that now I knew he would never fall for me.
"You never made me like him," I cleared in an outburst, how could she doubt my love for Tucker? "My feelings were pure," I replied and ran upstairs as the tears began forming in my eyes. I needed to get over Tucker, he would never be mine. His memories were like a pain to my existence.
I stayed in my room, even when the family was having dinner together. I have left my matters in the hands of God, he will make things right for me.
It went on for the next two months, I have been hanging around with the Orphans, Steven, Sid, and Dina. Tucker had been avoiding me and honestly speaking, my love for him has started to take over me again as I realized I was back to zero. The feeling of dating him and being in his arms had aroused as the distances grew between us. Just when I thought, I was over him, the love, my passion has started to drive me crazy. Just once, I just wanted to experience his love.
"I don't like ketchup mom!" I was in the kitchen, one evening when Tucker and Lauren were sitting in the lounge. Lauren has slowly regained her trust in me again, I made sure to not upset her by sharing anything about my new friends.
"Giselle hands him the ranch you have made; she makes the best ranch." Lauren had been on the task of pushing me towards him again. Tucker didn't raise his head and neither did he took the ranch. I knew I had hurt him, I should have handled things more maturely, but what was the point if I can't be with him. His closeness had always made things worse for me so it kind of was better to stay away from him.
He got up and left without uttering another word. I cleared my throat and sat with Lauren. She smiled at me and squeezed my hand to reassure me everything will be fine.
"I wanted to ask you something," I mumbled, Dina had asked me for a sleepover and she has forced me to persuade Lauren. Even though Lauren had forgiven me, I still hadn't gotten over her reaction from the last time.
"Sure," She smiled, picking up the utensils.
"I have a sleepover at one of my friend's place." I didn't wanna tell her the name since she won't waste a minute saying no.
"Which friend?" She questioned, heading towards the kitchen to wash the utensils.
"Lizzy!" she was a very sweet and polite girl, nobody really questioned her ever and the fact that I have been lying so frequently made me rethink my life's decisions.
"Yeah, but be careful, okay?" she smiled and began doing her dishes. I happily got up and marched into my room, feeling extremely happy. I packed my stuff and head out with Mr. Ben, who dropped me at Dina's house, he knew the truth and had no issue with me hanging out with Dina.
Dina's house was a peaceful place; her father was at work since he was the sheriff so we had the whole house for ourselves.
"I am so happy that we are back being friends." I laughed as we hugged each other, "let's change into our pajamas." I mumbled cheerfully, we had matching minion PJs that we always wore at sleepovers. I was about to head towards the bathroom when she held my hand and stopped me in my tracks
"What's the rush?" she asked and smiled, her smile was really very creepy. My heart missed a beat, but I kept my posture intact.
"What do you mean?" I inquired, my heart beating fast in my chest. I don't know why, but suddenly there was this fear in my heart that I was unable to explain. I kept watching her face and her grin grew bigger.
"You will know." She mumbled and turned around to dial a number, I held her hand tightly to prevent her from doing that, and looked her in the eyes.
"Dina, what's going on?" I asked, worried, and scared. Her smile faded off for a moment as she worriedly stared me back, but then, shaking her head, she let herself free.
"Don't worry!" That was all she said, she hurriedly called someone while I stood behind her like a fool.
"Hello!" she mumbled on the phone, "yeah dad left," she stated, " she is here. Just come quick and bring him too." She said before hanging up and marching towards the kitchen, I followed her and saw her grabbing some bottles of wine from the cabinet. We never agreed on that, what was she even up to?
"Dina, what are you doing?" I asked angrily, but then the bell rang. We both stared at the door and my heart sank in my chest, she rushed towards the door to open it before I could get a chance to object. I have made a terrible mistake by coming here all alone.
